Pros: * Software is the best I've come across for OCR detection on PDFs and scans. It can pick out most, if not all, the text from a medium-quality fax. * Software allows for basic PDF editing, as well as adding-removing pages + using MRC to shrink PDF sizes.
Cons: * Activation mechanism is vague, but haven't run into the issues the other folks have. * Some of the commands overlap / compete with each other. * 64-bit installer support, but software may still run as 32-bit.
Other Thoughts: Definitely useful for handling small-to-medium volumes of PDF processing. Probably need a full-fledged document system to handle server and volume loads.

Rating: 1/5Used to be good, not any more
Pros: Fast and easy PDF file editing, creating and printing. Much more simple interface than Adobe Acrobat. Cheaper than Adobe Acrobat
Cons: Very buggy compared to older versions. Cloud service is useless, and you can't remove it even if you opt out. Much slower than version 7 More expensive than 7 and before
Other Thoughts: I've used PDF Converter since version 4. It was a bit buggy back then, but they improved. That is they used to improve. Version 8 has more problems than I've seen in a while. I'm also dismayed at the price increase. It's almost double the cost it used to be. At least it's still cheaper than Acrobat. But, due to the bugs and issues, I'm not sure it's worth it any more.

Pros: Allowed me to make pdfs
Cons: Another case of copy protection gone berserk. It required me to go through the entire "activation" process every time I opened up the program. Going to their "support" was of no use. I stopped using it, wasted my money.

Rating: 2/5 7 & 8 are terrible
Pros: Not as expensive as Adobe Standard 9 & does eventually work
Cons: I got version 7 to use on a Win 7 Pro i7 1.8ghz 8gb, & it was slow & often crashed. Upgraded to PDF Converter Professional 8 & it crashed less often & is a slight bit faster.
Other Thoughts: Nuance should spend some money to have this app redone from the core up. It's positives include updating PDF with text in different fonts & sizes that adobe did not support- at least in my version & a couple of others I've seen.

Pros: This program is very easy to use and does everything it claims. It is also more refined and easier then Convertor Pro 7 was and way easier then the full version of Acrobat I have on my computer at work. Seems to accurately convert PDFs to MS Word and Excel. I use it mostly to edit PDFs and it is very simple to use for that.
Cons: non yet

Rating: 1/5Absolute junk - still!
Pros: Basically functional as described
Cons: Still has almost all the flaws of version 7 - even after years to fix them!
Other Thoughts: I've suffered through Nuance's blundering for far too long - both with v7 and v8.
Activation issues are simply unacceptable. A notebook computer with an external drive runs through the number of changes Nuance considers 'acceptable' within months. They have NEVER addressed the problem of their dialog window popping under (rather than in front of) the application window. They have ignored the fact that their tool cannot print from mainstream applications like Visio, even when provided with both the source files and samples of output. They do everything they can to put off solving a problem until you are out of free support and must pay for each message to them.
Bottom line - BUY SOMETHING ELSE. If your needs are straightforward, get CutePDF. If you need sophistication, bite the bullet and buy from Adobe.
DON'T support a company that produces junk like this, and then won't support it professionally. I say this with more than 30 years in IT.
