5 out of 5 eggsIntel works as expected

Pros: Windows Server 2003 x64 finds the drivers right from windows update.
Card performs flawlessly for creating links between servers.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I used this NIC to link two Windows Server 2003 x64 servers together. This is primarily for clustering....just works as usual with no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid always-on performer

Pros: Plugged into an Atom mobo running Untangle, always on for over two years now. Simple, solid, and faultless in this application.

Cons: Not one in this application.

5 out of 5 eggsBlow your onboard lan away!

Pros: Fast, can saturate almost 99 percent of a 2gig connection with teaming and a terribly cheap switch. Drivers are above and beyond excellent. Good explanations made it easy to understand features that i have never had available to me before. Useful self diagnostic capabilities. My first Intel LAN card and certainly not my last.

Cons: Expensive.

Other Thoughts: I used this card in my home server. It runs ip camera recording software 24x7 and hosts a separate shared 16tb of storage for the computers in my home. The onboard lan card is bridged to two InfiniTV tuner cards. i have been running this setup for over a year with flawless operation.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent VMWare NIC

Pros: Dual port
Virtual NIC technology for hypervisors like VMWare
Fast
Excellent drivers
Excellent support

Cons: I wish they were cheaper
You can get two single port cards for less money

Other Thoughts: Many onboard NICs are a pain to get support for on non-windows platforms. This overcomes that issue. I cannot say enough good things about this. Server quality and speed at a reasonable price.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless

Pros: Dropped it into a linux server, recognized instantly, works great

Cons: None that I can think of!

Other Thoughts: I need more ports now, I kinda wish I'd bought the 4-port version :P

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome network adapter!

Pros: Reliable, link aggregation(channel bonding), TCP segmentation offloading, jumbo frame support, low latency and high reliability. I have a pair of these and I actually experienced 99%+ realworld sustained gigabit throughput on large file transfers on my windows home server using standard CAT 5e kinked up and thrown on the floor(I know right, so much for engineering and installation practices). I also use this for my PFSense firewall box, one port goes to the WAN, and the other goes to my internal gigabit home network so that particular card gets it's workout supplying my connection to the internet day in and day out.

Cons: None other than it requires an open PCI express slot which are becoming more and more common. It's required though as 32 bit PCI would barely would the bandwidth.

Other Thoughts: Maybe a bit overkill for a home user, but even then I demand reliability and low latency and high throughput performance for the high traffic common nodes on my network. Everything a man could ask for, for a home, small business, enterprise network. I suspect these cards will last a very long time, and will be recycled into various machine builds until 10 Gb Ethernet becomes economical/common for the home user. Even then until disk/internet technology catches up there will not be a need.

4 out of 5 eggsA great card

Pros: This thing has so many features, that i don't even know them all!
Very fast transfers
Line combining
Offloading

Cons: A little pricey but for what you get, worth every penny. I am on the fence about getting the 4Port one!

Other Thoughts: If you're building an average computer, its not needed. I like the connectivity options and the fact that it seems to handle all the network stuff by itself. The option of a 2GBPS line to your computer is also tempting haha

5 out of 5 eggsSimply the best

Pros: I've put literally thousands of these into production servers across the USA (thus the indicated ownership level). I cannot recall a single one being DOA or one being replaced due to a failure (sheetrock dust and water damage aside). I purchased one for a home system serving media and running VMware Workstation for various tasks. The extra cost was absolutely worth it for the reliability and performance (802.3ad trunks at home??).

Cons: None

Works well, ESXi picked it up right away. Intel equipment just works, no hassle. PCI Express.
