4 out of 5 eggsGreat hardware, but be aware...

Pros: 802.11AC standard + BT4.0 put this card on the cutting edge. At least for the time being, these technologies are as good as it gets.

AC wifi is going to become the norm. It has the ability to support many more devices concurrently without losing speed.

BT4.0 is the first revision of Bluetooth that I am comfortable using. Pairs in a flash and has minimal/unnoticeable lag.

Absolutely love that I can get both in one relatively cheap package.

Breeze to install, works seamlessly when using the proper Linux Kernel.

Cons: Had to wrestle a bit with my OS to get the card to work properly. Turns out that, due to a bug, the current Linux kernel (3.14-4 at time of writing) does not recognize the most recent Intel microcode for this chip. The card was recognized and loaded with an outdated version of the microcode, which caused frequent wifi dropping and poor signal quality.

Downgrading to the LTS kernel (3.10.36-1) fixed this problem in my case. This is just a workaround. Knocked an egg because I can't use a bleeding edge kernel. Note: this is a *kernel* bug, not a flaw with the chip. In time, this will be fixed.

Other Thoughts: Installed in an Asus laptop:
Sandy Bridge i5 processor
6GB RAM
1TB HDD + 256GB mSATA SSD
Arch Linux with Linux LTS 3.10.36-1

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate: buggy bluetooth

Pros: See previous review.

Cons: My Bluetooth devices won't reconnect when my laptop wakes from sleep. Changing Bluetooth settings through Control Panel in an attempt to reconnect causes Windows Explorer or some instance of rundll to hang until I reboot. The Intel/Motorola Bluetooth drivers don't support nearly as many profiles as my Broadcom-based dongle. I wound up disabling the on-card Bluetooth in Device Manager and going back to the dongle. Half an egg off.

Other Thoughts: Still a very nice card. I'm hoping that eventually the Bluetooth drivers will be fixed and I can get rid of the dongle permanently.

2 out of 5 eggsHigh usage users, beware

Pros: This card is fast. Combined to a 5GHz WAP (even the "old" 802.11n), it is still fast. 300Mbps on the 802.11n 5GHz, or up to 900Mbps on an 802.11ac 5GHz WAP. Fits nicely on any already WiFi enabled portable or desktop.

Cons: Unreliable. If you do use it for moderate to heavy, constant data transfer, you will be surprised how many times you will be disconnecting and reconnecting your wireless connection so you don't get booted off of your application (or favorite game) session. Seems like Intel is not giving the care users need on this issue...

Other Thoughts: Please see http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-034535.htm for more information.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: - Great speed.
- Great range.
- Great features.
- Great compatibility.
- Easy install.
- Does what's expected of it.

Cons: - When I ran a speed test it was lower than I expected it to be sitting 10ft from my router, though I found a setting 'VHT' (Very high Throughput), which is mainly for Wireless AC bands, so I changed that to HT which is for Wireless N and it drastically improved the speed and maxed out my internet bandwidth. I guess i wouldn't have seen this problem if my router supported wireless AC...

Other Thoughts: I used this to replace the low end WiFi card in a HP Envy 4 Ultrabook and it performed atleast twice as good as the original one that was in the laptop. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsHigh Speed 11ac

Pros: I upgraded my Dell 6420 Notebook to 11ac using the 7260. I ran HTTP speed tests and I am getting over 200 Mbps of anywhere in the house. Router is in the cellar and the Intel 7260 is able to achieve high performance in all locations throughout my home. As a comparison this same PC with an 11n interface was only able to get to 60 Mbps. Essentially moving to 11ac with this adapter has tripled my performance.

Cons: No cons at this time.

Other Thoughts: To install, power down, install interface. Connect to the Internet via Ethernet and in Windows choose option to search Internet for best driver. Drivers are also available on Intel.com . Interface Installed in less than 5 minutes.

3 out of 5 eggsNot compatible

Pros: Not really any pros as I never had a chance to test them properly.

Cons: Intel and other manufacturers such as IBM/Lenovo/Dell/HP need to stop with the proprietary nonsense. What a joke. You can't install the same exact wireless chipset card in a M37 based Lenovo machine because of Unauthorized device ID's encoded on the chip itself must match the motherboards BIOS device ID's ( the dreaded 1802 error) that has to match to a hardware white list on your specific machine board. Another way to screw customers out of money forcing you to oder their specific proprietary WiFi card that costs 4 times more. Yeah the same 7260 wireless chip costs 150 USD from Lenovo. What a crock. Lenovo blames it on FCC regulations saying you have to match antennas to cards. The biggest lousy unacceptable excuse I've ever heard. Once the product leaves Lenovos hands its not their Job to nanny patrol what cards people put in their machines. Its to my understanding Lenovo / Intel all work together so this kind of consumer gouging needs to stop. Just like printers with chips in them that post how much ink is in it to stop you from refilling them forcing you to buy their cartridge . Either way I have to buy an INTEL chip to make it work with WiDi way to make 100 dollars off something that costs 25 cents to manufacture intel and lenovo.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy a WLAN card unless you call the manufacturer of your device and confirm its comparability . Don't be fooled by the FCC mix and match compatibility scam. With the amount of new wireless standards and old devices with no BlueTooth or WiDi or AC capabilities forcing you to buy manufacturer specific cards is a scam. These big PC manufacturers are lazy and cheap, instead of testing various chips having them certified and added to the white list they insist on forcing you to purchase their specific hardware ID devices at a premium cost. Disgusted with INTEL , Lenovo.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat upgrade for my Lenovo s205

Pros: Picks up all the networks in my neighborhood. Good connection speeds on the 5GHz band with my N router (300Mbps at 20', 120-160Mbps at 30' with a wall in the way). Bluetooth paired with my Nexi without difficulty. Seems very stable with 17.0 drivers on Win7 64-bit.

Cons: Still a little pricey. First card installed with no problems and passed the Intel diagnostics but would not connect to anything; had to RMA it.

Other Thoughts: Haven't tested ac operation yet. Had to flash a cracked BIOS to bypass the whitelist. A 3rd antenna would make this thing absolutely awesome. Newegg's RMA process was painless except for the return postage.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat piece of Hardware!

Pros: I installed device into my Intel i5 NUC, installation was simple and plugged right in. The NUC's internal wires were tiny so if you have big hands take your time so you don't bend the terminals on accident.

Drivers installed without a hitch, downloaded the latest ones on Intel's site. The Wireless N has worked flawless so far, I am getting 150mbps even with the unit across the house in the 2nd floor. Keep in my house is 3000ft and I am on the opposite end. the AC part reception is slightly degraded due to the number of walls I am passing thru, but still picks up a good signal and I am connected at roughly 300mbps - 400mbps and it bounces around a bit.

Bluetooth as worked without any problems. Same thing, downloaded the drivers on Intels site and was up and running in no time. Using the bluetooth for a headset.

Cons: None that I can think of right now. This was a OEM item so I knew that nothing else wound be included..

Other Thoughts: Item came OEM, so packing was a bit lacking, but its to be expected for this price and OEM.
