4 out of 5 eggsGood Hardware Limited by Lousy Software

Pros: Greater range than the Centrino N something that it replaces. (I'm getting 12mbps on speakeasy in the basement where it my laptop could barely talk to the AP)
Windows 8.1 had drivers out of the box (Sort of)

Cons: Buggy drivers - takes for ever at "Verifying and Connecting" and then says "limited connectivity" although I can use the internet just fine.

Other Thoughts: I suppose the problems caused by what I belive to be be buggy drivers could also be a result of windows being a piece of dung. I haven't tried it under Linux because the only distro I can get my laptop to boot successfully is Arch

4 out of 5 eggs3 out of 4 are great

Pros: When you get a working one they work very well.

Cons: Many people have Bluetooth Problems (including me, see Other Thoughts).

Other Thoughts: Over the last 6 months I've built 3 NUC PCs, and used this wireless card for all of them.
Two have win 8.1, one has win 7 (all 64 bit).

I bought this card because it also had Bluetooth, even though revies show a lot of people having problems with Bluetooth.

First two NUCs (with win 8.1) went great 2 different Bluetooth devices (a mouse and a speaker) connected quickly, and consistently.

Then I built the last one (with win 7) and it would see, and connect but not find any services for, the same 2 Bluetooth devices. I removed & reloaded drivers several times with different revs or in a different order, but it always ended up connecting but no services (which means the device can't do anything).

So I swapped cards with one of the other NUCs, and the problem followed the card. RMA'd that sucker, and the one I got works fine.

So if you're having Bluetooth problems, it may very well be a faulty card, even though the symptoms make it look like a driver issue.

All 3 NUCs now get great speed, no disconnects and really good range, and connect reliably with Bluetooth devices. So for the price, I still think this is the go-to card, for 802.11AC + Bluetooth.

4 out of 5 eggsA decent NIC for the price

Pros: I bought this card to replace an aging Atheors-based chipset for my laptop and I don't regret it. The signal reception on this little thing is amazing. My wireless router is five rooms away and several walls separating it but I still manage to get excellent signal-to-noise ratio.

I haven't really tried out the Bluetooth radio on it yet as I rarely have use for Bluetooth these days.

Cons: The Intel WiDi driver doesn't seem to work on Windows 8.1. I wanted to stream my laptop to my smart TV, which supports Intel WiDi/Miracast but for some reason the WiDi client I downloaded from intel didn't work.

2 out of 5 eggsSkip this card

Pros: It utilizes 802.11ac and when it does work I get great speeds on my network.

Cons: After about a month of using this card it stops working more times than it actually works. I've read up on the Intel forums about the various issues, suggestions and also tried out the latest drivers. I've tried this card on various routers and at different locations but my experience is very similar to the other negative reviews on this card.

Bluetooth is troublesome. I wasn't able to get the Bluetooth to connect to a bluetooth speaker while trying to access the wifi. I had to use a USB wireless dongle in order to get the bluetooth to function and stream videos.

Wifi stops frequently. If my computer hibernates I tend to lose connection and I can't get it back. Sometimes disabling the adapter or rebooting works, however it's pretty annoying when you just want something that just works. This card also frequently stops seeing other networks to connect to for me.

Other Thoughts: I'm using an old Dell laptop. My problems could stem from the hardware I'm using or not using the latest Windows OS.

I have better luck with USB wireless adapters. Unless, you like troubleshooting your wireless card I would pass on this card until Intel works out all the issues or releases a better card.

Tested on:
Laptop: Dell Vostro 1700
OS: Windows 7
