Pros: It works and stays very cool. Feel no heat from it at all. Just plug a Ethernet Cord in from your router to the switch on any port and that is it. You got a switch.

Cons: The most ridiculous MIR experience I ever had and I am generally very good about those. The fact that I am actually taking the time to complain about not getting $15 is a good telltale.

The instructions clearly stated in the BOLD LETTERS in the middle of the page that the form had to be submitted by 07/30/10 which I did and they acknowledged. What I failed to see that there was another catch buried way below with all seemingly useless info that it also had to be mailed within 30 days of purchase. Ironically, the first rep at the rebate company read it exactly the same way I did and thought that the rejection was in error. Submitting the form 39 days after purchase (and 38 days after it was shipped to me) caused them to reject it based on the "late postmark".

Other Thoughts: California residents need to look up California Civil Code Section 1770 (a)(17):

(a)The following unfair methods of competition and unfair or
deceptive acts or practices undertaken by any person in a
transaction intended to result or which results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer are unlawful:

(17) Representing that the consumer will receive a rebate,
discount, or other economic benefit, if the earning of the benefit is contingent on an event to occur subsequent to the consummation of
the transaction.

Netgear is a CA company (HQ's are in the Bay Area) yet their TX- based MIR processors - Parago aka ProSafe Rebates - are indifferent to CA state laws. Per Anthony (employee ID # 554) who introduced himself as a supervisor and Alex (ID # 1159) who claimed to be a manager, they do not consider state laws when they contradict their COMPANY POLICY.

Pros: Good low cost 10 port network switch.

Pros: Solid construction. Switch housing is made of metal. Worked flawlessly! Bottom of the housing has been designed to accept wall mounting. Screws & anchors are provided.

Pros: Purchased this item from NewEgg on 2-2009;Shortly after receiving it one port went out for some reason,No problem I was only using a couple of them,about a month ago another port went out,I then needed to do something,I contacted Netgear & figured to get the runaround ,to my surprise the lady was very nice 7 issued an RMA#,I returned to them 5-20-10 via US Mail ( I still was expecting an Excuse for not covered),On 5-26-10 A new one was on my porch & by 6;pm it was connected & running Beautifully...Great service NetGear & NewEgg..

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these units back in 2000 (yes, ten years ago and Netgear still makes the FS105), and both are still going strong in daily use. The last time they were power-cycled was about 3 years ago when I bought the new UPS they're plugged in to. They're behind my desk so I never touch them. They run at full port speed during nightly backups of several PCs and never complain, drop packets, or lock up Even with nearly 1,000 days uptime they still don't miss a beat. One phrase says it all-- bulletproof switch for pocket change.
