Has been solid
- Pros: Working as advertised.
- Cons: Does run a litte warm as noted in other post, but not any warmer than router or cable modem.
- Other Thoughts: Using with a Cisco RVS4000 router in small office. Accessing other devices on the network is very snappy.
Has a finite -- very finite -- life
- Pros: When it worked, it worked very well.
- Cons: It runs very hot and Version 3 does not have a fan, just a heat sink. Even placing a $0.50 fan did not escape the scruitny of Cisco bean counters.
It requires a reboot (power it down then up) from time to time. After 18 months things start slowing down until finally there is no communications whatsoever.
- Other Thoughts: Your best bet, if you need 24 x 7 connectivity, is to keep a spare switch after this unit has been in service for about a year.
Solid Gigabit Switch
- Pros: Bought the switch as I needed a faster data transfer rate between my home server, NAS, and PC's. It's been working well now for several months trouble free.
- Cons: It would be nice if it stacked with my older linksys router. I have my router laying over the switch and it's a bit awkward.
- Other Thoughts: Haven't had any issues with linksys thus far.
