The TrendNet TEG-S5 Gigabit Ethernet switch offers faster access to more terminals on your network, and jumbo packet support. The TEG-S5 offers Plug-and-Play operation with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. Connect your server to the switch to increase performance across the network, or cascade Gigabit switches for a high-bandwidth backbone. With support for 4K MAC address entries, you'll find support for any device you need to connect!

This 5-port switch features Auto-Negotiation, which optimizes performance by prioritizing network traffic and adjusting bandwidth and speed. Auto-MDIX technology detects and configures the appropriate connection type for your device to give you maximum speed for each terminal.

The TEG-S5 utilizes Store-and-Forward switching, which verifies the integrity of data before forwarding it across the network, so you don't waste bandwidth on junk transmissions. The TrendNet TEG-S5 is a simple and economical path to Gigabit connectivity!

  • newegg Gigabit Network Connectivity The TRENDnet TEG-S5 integrates 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet technology that provides a tenfold increase over 100M Fast Ethernet and a hundredfold increase over 10M Ethernet, to raise the speed and performance threshold for a converged network.
  • newegg Half/full-duplex Compatible With full-duplex support, the TRENDnet TEG-S5 works at a maximum 2000Mbps on each RJ45 port (doubling the speed of normal half-duplex devices), and is also compatible with half-duplex mode. On top of that, each port supports Auto-negotiation and Auto-MDI/ MDI-X, which facilitate installation and troubleshooting respectively.

5 out of 5 eggsDirt Cheap, Great Performance

Pros: No setup, just plug everything in, speedy, small size, inexpensive. Used it at school with no problems.

Cons: Lights are opposite of what is specified in the manual, does not effect anything though.

1 out of 5 eggsMajor Disappointment

Pros: Auto MDI/MDI-X on all ports, small, keeps cool, inexpensive

Cons: It doesn't work. Streaming the Super Bowl last night to a Windows Media Center Extender, I got multiple Network Slowdown messages. I swapped this switch out for a 10/100 switch at halftime (missing Springsteen), and all was good for the rest of the game.

Other Thoughts: I blame you, TRENDnet, for me missing Springsteen! Will be returning the product.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for the price

Pros: It plugged in and worked without any trouble whatsoever

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It is what it says it is. I plugged it in and connected my network devices. I have a DirectTV box, HavaHD and couple of computers all on it with no troubles at all.

3 out of 5 eggsHmmm...

Pros: Cheap

Cons: My network isn't running at gigabit speeds, however, the switch is connected to a 100mb/s router. I think the switch might work closer to gigabit speeds if I had a gigabit router. Works fine for anything at 100Mbps though.

I didn't really like the idea of a non-managed switch, I am used to working with Cisco equipment though.

Other Thoughts: It is unlikely that a gigabit network will run at exactly gigabit speeds due to bottlenecking, PCI-Bus saturation and other issues. Keep that in mind when attempting to construct a gigabit network.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: It worked as expected. As my computer NICs are 10/100 Mbps, I have not been able to use its full capacity.

Cons: none so far.

1 out of 5 eggsBroke in 10 minutes of use

Pros: Low price

Cons: Received package today, plugged it in and starting transfer a 700 MB file. The file copied successfully and then the switch died. The lights would not come back on.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for.
