So, are you starting to get excited yet? Then check out this switch and get your network up and running!

On top of that, each RJ45 supports Auto-negotiation and Auto-MDI/ MDI-X, which facilitate installation and troubleshooting respectively.
  • newegg Network Optimization The RC-405 supports Full Wire Speed Store-and-Forward Technology which instantly eliminates bad packets. Broadcast Storm Filter, Runt and CRC Filtering eliminate erroneous packets to optimize network bandwidth.

4 out of 5 eggsSatisfied customer

Pros: Small, inexpensive, and it works as advertised. I use a wireless client to provide internet access to my entertainment center. But the wireless client only has one ethernet port. So I connected the RC-405 to it and that gives me four available ports.

Cons: It stopped working after seven weeks.

Other Thoughts: When the switch died I determined the cause was a failed power adapter. The switch was too inexpensive to go through the hassle of an RMA so I contacted Rosewill sales to see about ordering a replacement power adapter. Instead, they had Newegg send me a brand new switch at no cost to me.
I would have given 5 eggs if not for the short-lived power adapter.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: Needed to provide connectivity for my satelite receiver, Xbox 360, and Wii. Plugged the switch up to the network, then to each device, added power, and everything is connected with no issues. Have been up and running for a couple of months with no issues.

Comes back up after a power outage, which is a nice little bonus. More to do with the Ethernet protocol, than the actual hardware. For a sub-$15 switch, I couldn't ask for anything more.

Cons: Throughput may be an issue for some, but works perfectly for my needs.

Other Thoughts: Fills basic needs of expanding one Ethernet network, when throughput is not a major concern. For the price, this little switch does everything I expect.

5 out of 5 eggsworks fine

Pros: Gets the job done. works with my router and one other hub on the same network. very small and compact. no brainer to set it up (just plug it in).

Cons: it doesnt come with any ethernet cables, but they are cheap on newegg anyway. maybe they could make this a deal with some cables...

Other Thoughts: I used this to split a connection between a pc and an old xbox for my brother.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: its awesome if u want to surf the net while playing PS3 online =)

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Initially works great. Nice cheap little switch.

Cons: Randomly die rather fast. Our warehouse has gone through one of these switches in as little as a month. They last longer in other locations but all seem to die earlier than other brands of switches I have encountered.
