4 out of 5 eggsWorked great for over a year

Pros: Worked the way you'd expect a switch to work...plug in network cables and off you go.

Cons: Came home, none of my clients had a network connection. Power light was flickering, all of the network status lights were out.

Other Thoughts: Its about what you'd expect for the price. I'll probably replace it with something in the $60 range for a bit more longevity.

1 out of 5 eggsBad power supply

Pros: Inexpensive & fanless

Cons: Switch-mode power supply went bad...caused all kinds of grief as the network issues were initially subtle enough that it took a long time to diagnose. Now the power light flickers and the power supply makes an audible ticking sound...occasionally the thing reboots completely.

Other Thoughts: These cheap switch-mode power supplies are going bad all over the place, reminiscent of the "bad capacitor" issue that plagued so many motherboards a while back. Try to find products with "brick" linear power supplies when you can (I have a Rosewill RC-408 switch with one and it's fine)

5 out of 5 eggsWorked Great

Pros: Worked great out of the box. Had drives all transferred and back running in 30 minutes. Using Ubuntu and a software raid.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Seen other comments about issues with Ubuntu but I had none. Used my existing SATA drive card since it had support for the port multiplexer and the 2 eSata ports.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Box. Great price

Pros: First - 4U rack mounted case for 89 with a free switch. Very impressed by the design quality with 1 exception. Have not found any sharp corners yet. Awesome shipping (2 days) as usual.

Cons: Just 2 minor issues. Some of the internal screws are cheap. Stripped 1 in a matter of seconds.
Box arrived with a hole in it. Only a thin plastic bag prevented it from being scratched.

Other Thoughts: This will be my first attempt at building a box. When finished, it will be a 16TB Raid 5 NAS running FreeNAS with an additional 4.5TB RAID 5 array.

5 out of 5 eggsFast, Easy

Pros: Plug it up, works great out of the box. My setup has 3 xbox 360s, 5 computers, wireless N router to 3 laptops. Run 3 xboxs on xbox live all the time, no lag.

Metal case was ideal for putting up in the attic. Gets hot up there. so far no problems.

Cons: Nada.

Other Thoughts: Will update if problems arise.

5 out of 5 eggsGets it done, good value

Pros: Have seven computers hooked together in our house, goes at nearly the max HDD transfer rate between machines. Exactly what we expected from the product, pretty small compared the the 100Mbps box from the 90s we had before, thing is about the size of a small book, case is built solid. A+

Cons: Could use more features, but for this price point it's a good choice.

Other Thoughts: Some people have had issues with PSU or port failures, had this for a couple of months and no issues so far, hopefully nothing changes to skew my opinion of it in the future.

4 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: bought this over 2 years ago and still working strong... no probs

Cons: it is a shame it doesn't have a dedicated router/uplink port so you end up connecting 1 to your router and only have 7 ports left... but I think most if not all manufacturers are doing that these days

5 out of 5 eggsGigabit switch works

Pros: Gigabit connection, easy setup, worked right out of the box. Really smoothed out online television and movies feeds.

Cons: Use one port to connect to dsl router, only 7 ports available.

Other Thoughts: The 7 port thing isn't a problem for now, but once I finish wiring my house it will be. I've got 6 rooms connected now and 2 to go. Thought they would have had a router port.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Switch, Bad Company

Pros: It is well designed and works well for cost.

Cons: Out of 7, 4 stopped working. They had a a blinking green indicator light on power.

Rosewill told me they had failed and to replace them.

Although its not in the Owner's Manual, a green blinking light indicates bad power.

Tried to contact Rosewill b/c they are one of my favorite manufacturers, maybe have them add the info to the user's manual... maybe get some power cords?

They were rude and didn't care at all. w/e

Other Thoughts: Why would a company that makes great switches let some bad plugs they bought from a vendor destroy thier reputation?

Why would you not want to know how a device you said failed is easily fixed?
