3 out of 5 eggsehh, $30

Pros: Price, Draft, speed

Cons: For four months I've been trying to troubleshoot on my off time what is wrong with my network. I bought this adapter and my router at the same time. silly me, never thought about the nic being the problem.... My 12 year old daughter pointed out to me that it is only the desktop that has the issue of disconnecting randomly, none of the laptops, none of the other devices on the network will drop like the desktop does. For the last week I've narrowed it down to this NIC -- or TCP/IP... IP in particular. netsh int reset doesn't do the trick -- my guess is this NIC.

Other Thoughts: Should cut your budget somewhere else if you like your network connection to be stable.

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable, Drops connection, Fake Signal

Pros: Packaging
Easy Install

Cons: - fake signal, It's shows excelent signal strength but the rate is very poor.
- Encore doesn't serious support.
- Drops connection anytime
- Unstable
- Don't work with Realtek Chipset Manufacturer Drivers, only Encore

Other Thoughts: this card's very horrible, and has fake signal, It's shows excelent signal strength but the rate is very poor. Encore doesn't serious support. Finally, I Purchased TP-Link WL-WN881ND, Great Card.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Wireless Adapter

Pros: Decent price, easy install, dual antennas. Easily connects at 300Mbps to my Netgear WNR2000v3 router.

Cons: no low profile bracket included

Other Thoughts: For those with issues getting it to connect at 300Mbps, make sure your router is configured properly. For mine, I had to change the setting to allow it to operate in 40Mhz mode, which allows channel bonding. This allows, in essence, up to 150Mbps, per channel (I'm using channels 4 and 8). Prior to changing to 40Mhz mode, the max I could get was 130Mbps.
