1 out of 5 eggsHangs and shuts the PC off. New buyers, don't buy this card.

This review is from: ASUS PCE-N10 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n PCI Express Up to 150Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: Bought it with free shipping and rebate which made it free for me. Trusted brand. Quality products, except this. Will sure buy other Asus products.

Cons: As soon as i plugged it in and started the PC it will freeze the PC after 1 mins and then the PC restarts. Then when i removed it and restarted, the PC works just fine. I did this at least 5 times with all the 5 pci-e slots with the same result. I even used the latest drivers from asus's website, but nothing helps. I googled, and it seems these asus wifi cards are not compatible with the haswell series. I have a brand new and a pretty solid gaming rig so it doesn't seems to be my PC's fault. No point in returning or contacting the manufacture as it was free for me but other buyers need to be warned.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsrebate from like 2 years ago

This review is from: ASUS PCE-N10 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n PCI Express Up to 150Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: well, it works

Cons: ping is somewhat not that great, so not being used for gaming, use my laptop at the same location as my computer and it has way better connection

Other Thoughts: just like the reviews said, the rebate is a hoax, called in many times and they lose everything, its like a big circle, "sir we haven't received the mail, please send us a copy again" then months later, nothing, send in again, the circle of life but im done with the rebate, got it because there was a rebate but im over it, life moves on

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Jason,

Thank you for taking the time to communicate to us why our ASUS products did not meet your expectations. Please accept our sincerest apology for any trouble or inconvenience, we have caused you. I understand that you're having an issue with the rebate. Please use this link for rebate claims: https://asus.4myrebate.com/Claim/FindaRebate.

If you are experiencing an intermittent connection, please try to place the router to a different location. That's why you encountered the disconnection from the internet due to interference. Elevate your router away from floors. You’ll get better reception if the router is on a desk, not on the floor. You should also pay attention to the kinds of materials the router and adapter is near. For example, placing the router on a metal desk or up against a metal wall will cause problems. Signals can travel through a wood desk easily, but metal will obstruct the signals. This is the examples appliances can cause wireless interference, including cordless phones, baby monitors, and microwave ovens.

If in case you're going to need assistance with the unit, please don't hesitate to email me at customerloyalty@asus.com and put case # N150996395 in the subject line for your reference.

This review is from: ASUS PCE-N10 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n PCI Express Up to 150Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: arrived sooner then advertised

Cons: I bought this card to use for the wifi on my brand new first ever gaming computer, my friend who knows more about computers then i do walked me through the process and recommended this to me, it worked great for the first month then after that it caused my computer to freeze several times a day (i dont know how it does it buy my friend uses the same card and he says thats the problem) and when playing online games most of the time it causes my latency to be through the roof, often times 5k+ m/s, im currently shopping for a different card

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

This review is from: ASUS PCE-N10 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n PCI Express Up to 150Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: Affordable PCI-Express card with rebates, no manual installs needed with Windows 8.1 install, and antennae is a nice.

Cons: The black capacitor on the card can easily be accidentally chipped off while you're trying to plug in cables into your motherboard. Only 150Mbps, but I don't need the 300Mbps or 802.11ac features.

2 out of 5 eggsRemember that rebate?

This review is from: ASUS PCE-N10 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n PCI Express Up to 150Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: It still works.

Cons: None so far, other than the rebate fiasco, see "other thoughts" for more.

Other Thoughts: The truth is, I picked this up because of the rebate. The company that processes these rebates seems to "lose" all paper work you send in. So far they've only received 2 in 11 of the rebate documents I've sent.

I've let it go in the past, this time I'm reporting them to the FTC, BBB and any other authority I can dig up.

4 out of 5 eggsGood

This review is from: ASUS PCE-N10 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n PCI Express Up to 150Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: cheap and reliable

Cons: -

Other Thoughts: Does not always download at 150mbs because of the interference of your walls, by the time the signal gets from your modem to the adapter it only downloads around 32mbs (for me). Great product, would recommend getting the300mbs one

1 out of 5 eggsterrible speeds until it dies. just stay away.

This review is from: ASUS PCE-N10 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n PCI Express Up to 150Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: It fits in my computer.

Cons: Worked for a little bit, giving me low but okay speeds. I put up with it because I was lazy. Fast forward 1month, with usage time way under 1month. Keeps dropping my signal, and gives unbearably low speeds. Paying for 50Mb/s at the modem, getting 1.2Mb/s through this adapter. Thought it was the router, until I tried my old Buffalo USB adapter which spat out a 22Mb/s. I keep trying, but it's not giving me anything above 4Mb/s now, when it even works. I give up; this junk is going in the garbage.

Other Thoughts: I sent in my rebate at 30days. I hope they give me my money back because this is probably the worst decision I've made on Newegg.
I should have listened to the other bad reviews (but hey, it was on sale).

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Kahei,

On behalf of ASUS we want to thank you for posting this review and I understand that you have an issue with the USB Adapter. I apologize for the inconvenience caused. Let me go ahead and further assist you. If you are having problems with the unstable connection, please use the following troubleshooting steps:

Step 1. Please reseat this adapter to different PCE slots.
Step 2. Please try to uninstall and reinstall the driver or you can download the updated driver on our website at support.asus.com.
Step 3. Adjust the placement of your router. Simply adjusting the placement and orientation of the wireless router may improve 5GHz and 2.4GHz signal strength.
Step 4. Adjust the antennas on the router. Try adjusting the antennas to achieve the best performance of your 5GHz and 2.4GHz networks.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor connectivity

This review is from: ASUS PCE-N10 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n PCI Express Up to 150Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: The card is definitely small and easy to install. I had no issues getting it up and running. It seems to be a pretty solid build and I'm glad it has an antenna on it since that opens an avenue to installing a custom antenna or extend the antenna out for boost the gain.

It works well for movie streaming, downloading stuff, and casually browsing the internet.

The card does seem to occasionally drop out which is annoying.

Cons: The connection is poor. So, it doesn't drop out BUT, it has an insane lag. Or doesn't connect well to my router. In fact, I tested it against my $200 chromebook which seems to have a wonderful ping even when it's further away from the router, shielded by several walls while this card gets a terrible ping.

In fact, you can't GAME with this card. Let me repeat: YOU CANNOT GAME WITH THIS CARD.

I tried to play CS:GO, constantly lags. I get shot and I'm already several seconds into a respawn. Tried League of Legends, 300ms+ ping time, so the game is unplayable. Ever tried ulting with a lag? You miss 90% of the time. Don't play as Ashe.

SWTOR same deal, but less noticeable since I didn't do PVP. And every other online game I've played is exactly the same.

Though, if you're streaming/downloading a movie, you won't see a difference,

I tested it against a couple of my laptops, I've never had such a bad performance with any of them. My Macbook used to get 30ms ping time. My 4 year old $400 (at the time of buying) PC laptop used to get a 50ms ping time.

I had to switch to hard-wired connection and can't use it at all anymore.

Manufacturer Response:
