5 out of 5 eggsOne of the Best Netbooks on the Market!

Pros: This netbook is by far one of the best netbooks on the market today. As made by samsung it has a nice feel to it and is not too small and is not too big at the same time.
The use of the new Via Nano CPU U2250(1.3+GHz) has helped to make this the fastest netbook I have ever used! It makes all the Intel atoms look bad. It slows down when you dont need it as much and speeds up when you do. It ranges from 500Mhz to 1.6Ghz in processing speed.
Battery life is excellent as well when your using it away from the plug. It has a 800Mhz Front side bus! that is the fastest on and available netbook today!
It has a 5400 rpm HD with about 160 Gigs for storage! Plus many other great aspecs like Wlan, Bluetooth, 1.3meg Camera, 10/100mbps lan, built in speakers, 1 gig DDR 2 memory, and more!

Cons: Problems/Issues with this netbook:
I was a little disapointed with the placement of the speakers. Being under the computer does not help to project sound for two speakers that already lack the ability to be loud!
The keyboard will take time to get used to as it is all crammed into a small space.
The only other problem I had was in fact a MAJOR issue! The Wireless Lan card did NOT work properly! I could not access the internet! Thus completely making the netbook pointless, as it's soul purpose was emliminated
! Strangely enough the intergrated Wlan COULD receive data but COULD NOT consistantly send data! It had a problem transfering data and packets! Thus causing me to RMA the item for replacement, which I am still waiting for. I dont think this is a big issue as no one else seems to have had it! I just got a defective one.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend upgrading to 2 gigs of ram when you purchase the netbook! It only has 1 bay so you will have to get a 2 gig stick to switch them out! It runs much much smoother!
Excellent product from Samsung! I was very impressed with this netbook.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mini-Notebook

Pros: We use this mini-notebook (Samsung has "mini-notebook" printed on the keyboard surface) even though it's found under netbooks.

We use it with a Bluetooth GPS and a Bluetooth mouse and love it. We just recently tethered a wireless phone to it so that we can access the internet while traveling.
The built-in speakers are better than my Lenovo laptop speakers. The keyboard is great. . .feels like full sized. Battery life has been good. . .we've run it about four hours and it didn't quit.
The screen brightness can be turned up quite high - high enough for outdoor use.
The machine is used to access corporate intranet via wifi with no problem. Just installed Adobe Element 7 and all seems to function quickly.
We bought the machine for internet use, photo-editing and GPS mapping. We haven't attempted any video editing or processing.
Yes, we would buy this machine again.

Cons: It does have a shiny case that smudges easily.

4 out of 5 eggsPeople not knowing what they are talking anout.

Pros: Decent for a netbook. Uses anything besides an Atom.

Cons: A little pricey, but like the fact that it uses something besides the Atom, I think the Atom is a second rate product and we are being forced to accept it because of lack of viable competition. At least when Intel took over the high end market it was on the strength of the product, not the fact that they could just dump whatever they wanted on us.

Other Thoughts: I did not buy mine at New Egg, sorry Egg. Another retailer had it $100.00 cheaper. But usually your prices are awesome. My other thoughts are, people ought to at least have an idea what they are talking about before posting a review. One of the reviews for this unit, a guy says that you could save $200 and get a netbook. Could he really be so ill informed as to not realize that this is a NETBOOK? Know what your talking about before you post. Or at least be more honest about your tech skill before you type something ill informed. Many people base their final purchase decisions on what people have to say here.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Netbook

Pros: Screen size, light weight, speed.

Cons: The black color is a fingerprint magnet.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this netbook for my son who starts college in late August. I wanted to buy something light weight that he could carry in his backpack. He loves it! I bought an additional 1GB RAM for it (can't have too much RAM). I love that is loaded with Windows XP, since Vista is such a memory hog.

4 out of 5 eggsOverpriced

Pros: Screen size

Cons: No optical drive

Other Thoughts: At this price, this should include an optical drive, You can get the same thing with a 2" smaller screen by buying a netbook...and save yourself $200+

5 out of 5 eggsvery pleased

Pros: Extremely happy thus far with this netbook. The larger screen was my most important feature, and its brightness is excellent (I use it outdoors a lot). I put 2G of RAM in, and it seems very capable with AutoCAD (modest-sized 3D models).

Cons: Speaker output is puny, even at highest level.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Netbook

Pros: Large screen and keyboard for a netbook
Lightweight (how can a netbook not be?)
Performance that rivals basic full-size notebooks
3 USB slots
DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) RAM

Cons: Comes with XP Home
Only one memory slot for upgrade
Glossy case is a magnet for fingerprints

Other Thoughts: Very, very nice netbook - bought this for our small business owner and it is perfect for his needs. Upgraded to 2 GB RAM and to XP Pro (via bootable thumb drive). Wish netbooks would've been prevalent years ago when 12" laptops costed $2500. We have several Dell Latitude D630s that have similar specs (2 GB RAM, 160 GB HD). Unless you need some real horsepower in your laptop (64-bit, dual core, sweet graphics card), this is a great choice.

5 out of 5 eggsFor those who want something in between Netbooks and Laptops

Pros: The Samsung NC 20 does what I bought it for well, and that's mainly to browse the internet, stream videos, and run light office apps. This is a great Netbook for streaming videos, streams from Netflix, Hulu, MSNBC, and others run very well with little to no stutters when viewing on standard sizes. While not powerful enough to stream 720p, running encoded 720p videos from the hard drive works stunningly well; this is where the 1280x800 resolution screen will really blow you away with its capability of playing full-sized 720p videos without a hitch.

The 12” 1280x800 resolution screen is probably the main reason to consider the NC 20. 600 vertical screen resolution is much too restrictive for web browsing, some sites don’t even work properly at that resolution. Also, if you’re planning to run office apps such as spreadsheets, you won’t be pulling out your hairs as much from scrolling as you would using a 10” screen Netbook.

Cons: Don’t expect to be playing modern 3D games on your NC 20, as it even has trouble playing simple games like Darwinia; an indie game with simplistic 3D graphics with low system requirements of 600 mhz cpu and 128MB RAM. I knew its 3D gaming capabilities were gonna be low, but I didn’t quite expect it to be practically non-existent! On the bright side, 2D games such as World of Goo runs great on the NC 20, and I may just start experiencing more casual games for my NC 20; I’ll leave my 3D gaming needs to my Desktop.

Battery life for “every-day” use is around 4-5 hours, if you’re looking for more, you’ll have to do some adjusting to the power settings. I marvel at the new Acer Timeline series capabilities of reaching 8-9 hours on a 6-cell, but they’re also $200-300 more than the Samsung NC-20…

Other Thoughts: Win 7 drivers from Samsung aren’t available yet. You’ll have to make do with stock drivers available for Win 7, which work quite well I might add. Though I still can’t get the flash card reader to work.

The Samsung NC 20 is not quite as portable as a 9”-10” Netbook, or as powerful as a full-sized 13”-17” laptop; it’s comfortably in between those two categories when it comes to portability, battery life, and performance.

5 out of 5 eggsA good, basic laptop

Pros: I bought this because I needed a small laptop for roadtrips, and have some heavy duty spreadsheets that I run. I did a lot of research on this category, got some time in on 9" netbooks (barely usable) and 10" netbooks (tolerable) before deciding I wanted more screen real estate.
The keyboard is excellent, the monitor, though glossy, is quite crisp. I'd've paid extra for a matte finish. I bought a 2 GB stick of RAM for it and put it in shortly after confirming that everything turned on.
For web browsing, it's good. It has a small bit of jitter when watching Hulu.com, and suffers when you try to go to full screen mode. Even playing video files off the hard drive will do this.
It has a surprisingly small amount of crapware on it - and it's easy to get rid of.

Cons: For what I do on a laptop, the processor is a tiny bit underpowered; I run a spreadsheet that's sort of an abuse of what spreadsheets are meant to do, and this machine runs slooooow when working in it. Even the speed boost option doesn't help. On the other hand, I knew this was likely going in, and that it would be usable.

Other Thoughts: For a typical light web browsing/email/word processing/light spreadsheet computer, this thing is great. Small, easily portable, good keyboard, excellent monitor.

5 out of 5 eggsthe BEST NetBook YET!

Pros: This is the NEW Via NANO we were promissed almost 2 years ago would wipe the face of the Atom off the map... It has. Even the updated N280 can't compete. Comparing this system to a 12" AMD Athlon x2 2.1ghz it comes CLOSE! It plays 1080p HD movies with ease. battery lasts almost 5hrs on web, email, hulu. Heat, WHAT HEAT! This is what a Netbook was supposed to be and what we all imagined. A full size screen, decent sized keys and LONG battery life (for a windows machine). I'd compare this to a 12" powerbook... Which I would prefer over any netbook but for running Windows or Ubuntu 9.04 you will not find a better LAPTOP. Win7, Office 2007 run perfectly. HD movies play without pause and WITHOUT HEAT! Compared to other netbooks, this Via NANO based unit is beyond the pack and has become the new standard in portable CPU's.

Cons: Only con is that OS X will not install, if it did... Droool... Battery would probably last weeks.

Other Thoughts: Consider this a full size compact laptop with exceptional On-The-Go performance and beyond compare battery/performance ratio. Via, thank you!

The Via NANO is the way to go. Superb processor performance, excellent usability and stunning response even with Vista (Home Prem 32b tested). The old C7-M was a dog compared to the Atom, the Nano is like comparing a P3 to a Core2Duo! And heat, there's little to no heat! Even running Top Gun in 720p off the HD through quicktime, NADA!

Hands down the most comfortable netbook with the best combo of CPU, Graphics, SCREEN SIZE and battery life.
