4 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: Great screen, good graphics card at the time I bought it, keyboard has better feel than most laptops, connectivity is great (lots of ports, outputs, etc). One touch recovery saved my life.

Cons: Bad batter life, Its like 2 1/2 hours about now, not that good
flimsy head phone/ microphone jacks
A bit heavy, fan is loud but only at peak performance
speakers not what they are hailed to be
Tons of bloat ware

Other Thoughts: I've had this lap top for over two years now and it is still able to everything I want to do with it. I can play games on it, even current ones, It runs black ops on medium settings with no lag, it is a multimedia machine and does great with movies and music. I said my headphone jack cracked around the edge but it still works. A great machine, would recommend to any one who asks

2 out of 5 eggsSupport / Hardware issues

Pros: I own a similar product (not this exact model).

I liked it a lot when it worked. Was a nice upgrade to a 4 year old thinkpad I had.

Cons: 1) DVD drive was DOA - had to RMA (they were very fast with the shipping, customer support was good)
2) DVD faceplate broke, and...just like a different reviewer, they sent me the incorrect part at first...
3) The battery died after exactly 1 year and 4 months. The warranty for the battery is 1 year, and can't be extended (even if you purchase an extended warranty).

Other Thoughts: I had a very high opinion of lenovo support at first, but they just seem completely disorganized. For example, they have two separate serial number systems going on on their website, so 10 digit serial numbers are incompatable with 7 digit ones. Also, they have like 10 different ways to access your computer's "Parts Information" page, each of which shows a different page... Lenovo needs a bit of work yet

5 out of 5 eggsGreat computer!

Pros: -Flat out looks fantastic
-Runs decently well, I'll go over that
-INCREDIBLE graphics and screen res, for the price of course.
-Has met all my expectations, but one
-If you're looking for a "cheap" (I hate that word) computer that runs everything decently well, but isn't overdone, this is it for you.

I'm 16, and I paid for half of this computer, after I earned about $500 for this, a mouse, and a pad. This is an amazing computer, that outdoes some of my friends far more expensive computers.

Cons: The only REAL problem I've had is the processor speed. It does have 4GB of RAM, but the processor makes it feel more like 2 or 3GB.

I am a gamer, and I wanted a cheaper laptop because I was paying. This computer can't run GTA:IV for example, which is very graphically demanding, but that's not a HUGE deal. I definitely could get nitpicky, like how the mouse pad scroller hates me, I !!always!! set off the function key (but I have a mouse now), and there's no numpad for Garry's Mod, unless you use the function key.

Other Thoughts: For those who bought this, and are reading THERE IS A NUMPAD, it's just hidden inside the keyboard. Not really hidden, but you it overlaps the keys, not good for number crunching but is good for gaming. This computer is a bit of a print magnet, OH WELL.

Buy this computer, it's beyond worth it for the price! Unless you're rich and want one that exceeds your expectations, buy this computer. People might say the Customer Support is non-existent, but I haven't had to speak with them about anything and I've had this computer for a few months, and it got BANGED AROUND in the back of my car with NO CASE (smart I know).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat specs for the price

Pros: Running Win 7 Ultimate with Aero and I have yet to present this system with a significant challenge. I use it as a work laptop, which means not so much on games, but a lot a lot of multitasking; business apps, itunes, video playback. Hasn't bogged down once. A "business-series" notebook with these specs would set you back $1500, but this suits my needs just fine, although of course an OS license upgrade is needed.

Converting this to Windows 7 manually was relatively easy. Lenovo provides a full set of drivers, although I had to kiss off some of the preinstalled apps, like a cool one that uses the camera to identify your face and use that as a login passkey.

The screen is big and bright. The design is very attractive. The placement of connectors and keys is very nice.

I really like the volume-adjustment keys. My old laptop had a volume adjust that was a strip that you stroke, but this has buttons. Much preferred.

Cons: It took me a little while to figure out that the scroll on the touchpad is done by stroking the far right of the pad, not the stripe down that side that looks like a scroll bar.

& I guess the inability to download the preinstalled apps, especially now, on the cusp of the Windows 7 launch, is unfortunate.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Lappy!

Pros: Hardware is just excellent for the price! Durability feels great. There is one big cover to access all of the addon slots underneath. No need to remove the clam shell to upgrade stuffs! Keyboard is nice and doesn't feel cheap. Overall this is a class A notebook. Something that you would expect from IBM. The sound system is great, that tiny little subwoofer provides nice imaging for the lappy, surprisingly. The Video card has actual GDDR 3!!!!!!! No monitor latch to break.

Cons: 1. The function key has swapped places with the ctrl key. You get used to it but it can be kind of a pain in games.
2. Doesn't come with W7 preinstalled
3. Finger print magnet! Be prepared to be wiping off your prints you will acquire if you are "OCD" about that kind of thing.
4. Touch sensitive volume control is a little gimmicky. Along with the other touch sensitive buttons above the keyboard. The dolby digital button, I don't even know what it does, you press it and it lights up. No sound improvement as far as I can tell. As far as I'm concerned, the other volume controls on the right of the keyboard are fine.
5. Only has a 1366x768 res. see below.

Other Thoughts: Anyone who is thinking about getting a mid-class gaming notebook should really consider this product. For the price, you really can't beat any of the features and it is a solid feeling product. It even looks nice. Anyone who might be shying away because of the videocard and resolution, DONT! The card is perfect for this resolution and will play most modern games at high settings, and the most resource hungry games will play at mid settings. This is neither a plus or minus but the battery life does stink when you play games (duh). If you are going to class, like I do, you'll have plenty of battery life to type notes, or space off and surf F*ceb**k. You wanna play games, plug it in, have some common sense ;-)

Just get it, you won't regret it!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat desktop replacement!

Pros: Excellent specs for a low-price laptop, has the feel of a more expensive machine, no numeric keypad that cramps the keyboard, great sound for an economical laptop, nice textured trackpad, doesn't overheat or get too hot (Not sure if it runs hotter on battery; I keep it plugged in)

Cons: Nothing that would cause me not to buy this computer again, but some minor annoyances: I have to fiddle with the display options sometimes because screen is way too bright; sound is still not as loud as I'd like, but I'm thinking this is a general laptop disadvantage, not a Lenovo-specific disadvantage; it's a bit heavy and cumbersome if you're carrying it around a lot; display could be sharper

Other Thoughts: I needed a laptop that could effectively replace my desktop. I had never owned a laptop before and I did a lot of research before deciding on this one. I am a home user who uses her computer mainly for internet, email, music and streaming video. I do not do gaming, I don't use it for work. So, I was generally concentrating on a few specs - speed, memory (including video memory), and sound. The specs of this beauty for the price was simply unmatchable. I have had absolutely NO trouble with this machine. I watch streaming movies from Netflix and such and they load without pause or effort. And I was really worried about the sound, but no worries with this baby -- loud and clear enough for everyone in the whole room to hear. I really cannot stress enough how happy I am with this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsOne good notebook

Pros: Weight. Price. GPU. RAM. CPU. IBM branch. Screen size. Yes it can play Crisis, pretty much a benchmark game for me, so I know it can handle pretty much anything I throw at it. The system itself isn't very flashy. It looks nice, but doesn't have all the lights and not very needed extras some notebooks have. I tested my battery and it got up to 5 hours runtime, with wireless on and music playing.

Cons: The placement of the touchpad in relation to the buttons could have been a little better. I tend to touch the bottom edge of the pad and skew my cursor as I have removed the multitouch driver. A 500gb hdd standard would have been nice, but nothing Newegg can't fix :). Also a higher screen res would make this thing even more appealing. The low battery beep is freakin' annoying as junk; loud and high-pitched.

Other Thoughts: Remove everything first. It does have a "few" unnecessary programs that slow the thing down. First thing, remove the SlideBar program and install Rocketdock or Objectdock. They're way better. Veriface is a nice feature, but can get in the way if you need to get into your system asap. Get the windows 7 upgrade as soon as you get your notebook in the mail.

For those of you who are looking for descend gaming notebook and are curious, it gets a 3dMark06 score of 6450. Not the best, but it's a notebook that has the ability to run Crisis. I haven't test Vantage yet.

5 out of 5 eggsNice notebook, wipe it...

Pros: Great Video card, 4GB DDR3, Decent CPU, Good keyboard that doesn't feel like cheap plastic when you type. Speakers are better than most laptops, glossy top casing but doesnt show fingerprints, strong lcd.

Cons: comes with vista, gotta wipe the hdd. Doesnt have a 6GHz cpu or 16GB ram, doesnt sound like a 15" subwoofer when a bomb goes off on screen. PS, its a freakin laptop.

Other Thoughts: Great NB. Wipe Vista asap and install win7 x64, runs much faster. Decent gaming NB. Did i mention it runs great with windows 7? Oblivion runs at max everything and res nice and smooth. 3 usb ports, the e-sata is a hybrid usb and e-sata port. HDMI. Seriously, its a good notebook. Feels way more solid than other brands, coming from a computer tech/salesman.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Investment

Pros: 1. 4 gigs of RAM
2. decent size harddrive
3. very fast cpu
4. Nvidia GT 130M.
5. One of the coolest machines ive worked with
6. The Price
Adding all of these together combines to make one of the best laptops ive ever used, and have added lenovo to my top 3 favorite laptop manufacturers (ASUS,ACER, and now Lenovo). The price is unbeatable. for 750 dollars it outdoes my previous computer that i had gotten for 1200 dollars at the time. Old specs were, a 2.6 dual core, 3gigs of ram, 250 harddrive 7200 sata, and a Nvidia 8600 GTM graphics. This new lenovo just outdoes all other competition because for the price, there is no other laptop that has a dedicated GPU for this low of a price. Not to mention the laptop is upgradeable, i suggest the P socket 2.5 or 2.9 core 2 duo intel, and eventually solid state harddisk.

Cons: 1. Bloatware like no other. first 2 hrs was spent wiping off programs , roughly 14 or so including the annoying norton free trail. which errored during the uninstall and had to get the removal tool.
2. Vista. Cant wait for windows 7!

Other Thoughts: Could have better speakers but i have a home theater system for that. the connectivity from the laptop to my 1,400 watt system is excellent.
