Fast, good looking laptop for the price
- Pros: Rock bottom price, runs windows 7 very fast. Decent screen, keyboard is acceptable.
- Cons: Touchpad is a sad sad joke. I use a wireless mouse and I advise you to do the same. The Lenovo trackpoint is a way better technology generally than any trackpad. It's too bad that they don't use it here. The keyboard is a little suspect, certainly not Thinkpad quality.
- Other Thoughts: I'd buy it again. Windows 7 is a very competent product. I know beating up Micro$oft is a well followed sport, but I think they did a great job on this one. It's like a prettier, faster XP.
Great laptop at a great price
- Pros: Price, look of computer, has windows 7. Black finish on outside and inside is nice and looks very sleek, better than laptops I have viewed in stores. Outside and inside not prone to fingerprints. Touchpad and keyboard are easy to use for me. I didn't have to wait in line for hours in the cold on black friday to get a laptop at a decent price.
- Cons: ID vault software makes it seem like you need to use it just to operate the computer, could trick inexperienced users into paying for software they don't need. Other bloatware could be a problem too for new users. I suspect myself and most other users of a cheaper laptop will not need face recognition software which starts up with the computer as well. No software or restore discs in the box.
- Other Thoughts: No problems here, didn't take long to remove all the bloatware, certainly not hours, maybe 30 min. Keyboard seems good on mine, and touchpad too. I have no problems using the touchpad even though I have never used a laptop before. I have tried some other laptops though and this touchpad works better than some of the other ones and feels better when using it. If I tried to pick a laptop with a perfect touchpad I would probably drive myself crazy. This probably amounts to personal preference somewhat. This is a good laptop for general use or if you are looking for a cheap laptop for your kid or for the family to use. You won't be able to do heavy gaming or anything like that but what do you expect for the price point?
It does not have a card reader, a lot of USB ports or an HDMI port but I really don't need any of those things.

- Other Thoughts: Great price for this Lenovo G550 laptop. Totally satisfied with this system. Going to recommend to others.
Be sure to backup system hidden partition first via OneKey Recovery and select "Factory Default Recovery Disc". Takes 2 blank DVD's. Great insurance in the event hard drive ever fails. Will restore your system to the default factory Windows 7 system. I made 2 copies for myself as I believe in backup (been caught in the past without backup and suffered).
