1 out of 5 eggsNot Reliable

Pros: Good for not too intense gaming
fine for watching videos

Cons: Not Reliable
Gets REALLY hot
Accumulates Fingerprints

Other Thoughts: I bought this computer from lenovo with one of their warranties. In the past year and a half I have had to send the computer in 5 times for service. Twice for problems with it overheating, Once for Screen issues, Once for battery issues and once for hard drive failure. So if you do buy from this line of computers make sure you get a warranty

4 out of 5 eggsGood Laptop but.....

Pros: Good general performance, decent graphic card, can play fear 2 and modern warfare 2 without any lag. Bought it with a rebate and it was a deal

Cons: Low res screen, but for the price it's ok. Had the big mouse pointer problem and some crash from the video driver.

Other Thoughts: You MUST upgrade the bios to the 30CN59WW from the lenovo site, there is a lot of bug repair in relation with the video chipset .The video driver stop crashing and no more big pointer. The dual screen working flawlessly also since. I had crash on dual monitoring with inventor 2010 and autocad 2011 but since , no problem appears.

4 out of 5 eggsgood, bad and o m g

Pros: This has plenty of good going for it and enough really bad things. Look at the specs. Read some reviews. I just want to talk about the bad.

Tridef AND iZD both work with this laptop. Use interlaced setting for both. 3D is nice. Despite many reviews I read, there is nothing bad about the 3D here. It could be better, but definitely not bad. The problem with having to be at a fixed position to get the effect is not completely true. The angle part is true. 120 deg, but not a problem. If you play a game on it. You won't be across the room as if it's a large TV. If you need to slouch, just tilt it different. Nothing difficult or nagging. I played recent games on this like RE5 and old games like WC3 and Diablo II. It works and you'll love it.

Cons cont'd: (from below)
The track pad and buttons are irritating. Silent is good. Waxy is not (slidenav area is worse). Your finger will sometimes feel sticky. IDK why. The corner auto scrolls by touching it. At least it has gestures (not advert

Cons: Heat. It seams that the GPU is power hungry and will be able to replace your heater this winter. 120 processes running and the CPU is near idle, but the fan is pushing around 100 F! Really! If I could find my laser thermometer, I would give a more precise value. The bottom of the laptop is flat and the fan intake is on the bottom. This means that the fan cannot cool well if it is on a soft surface, such as my bed, which rings me to why I felt like writing this review. At some point, there will either be a fire (I was smelling the burning polyester of my comforter) or this heat will cause it to fail.

Keyboard. Oh MG W the f were they thinking? Fn, CTRL and END keys moved on me! I can't type right any more. 2 months and I'm still not used to it. Slidenav is slow. It takes 3 sec or more to do any action. I might as well keep the actions in Start or on the desktop. Why are the arrow keys smaller? Are they saving plastic?

Other Thoughts: I am a computer engineer, recent grad of USF, current grad student and despite how much the few bad things bother me, I would still buy another IBM/Lenovo product. They were great products 15 years ago and they still are.

If you want FREE glasses that work with this. Go to the theater. Either ask for some, get them from the return bin or buy a ticket. They work the same but don't look as cool. The NVidia package costs about $200 per pair and requires that annoying emitter. It also requires about $100 in hardware. There is no guarantee how long the batteries will last. How long does a cell phone/bluetooth ear piece battery last? 2 yrs.

My advise: Never buy a Sony Vaio, Dell, Compaq, Gateway, ...What I like? IBM, HP, Alienware (now a part of dell). If a laptop goes on sale for very cheap, the core design is about 3 years old and they are trying to minimize losses. Dell, Compaq, Gateway typically use cheap parts (you won't be happy).

3 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop, but problematic.

Pros: Bought this little sucker for my Fiancee, and she loves it. Mobility 5730 is blazing fast. Runs the Sims 3 maxed out with no problems (except the occasional latency issue with RAM, which can be easily fixed with Game Booster). Ran Crysis on High at 30FPS average. Core i7 720QM is still pretty quick only being clocked at 1.6 Gigglehertz. Plus the half-a-terabyte space is essential for the mild-gamer heavy-student type college lad. Decent size, but still quite portable. Sleek look, and tough riggid design. Nice little touch activated knick knacks.

Cons: Has a lot of weird issues:

- Whilst playing videos with any Broswer, it freezes. The program window goes first, then the mouse keyboard soon follow, but sound still plays. One fellow I read online said while chatting, he received messages on screen, but everything else was completely locked down, including his touchpad and keyboard.

-After being on Hibernation for a while it will sometimes just have a black screen after wake-up. The only way to fix it at that point is to close the lid and wait for it to sleep, then re-open.

- Mouse pad has zoom feature, which can be annoying as it is easily activated.

- The lappy gets quite hot. The CPU idles at 55-60 degrees Celsius.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully a simple driver/BIOS update will fix the issues. If not, I'll have to take it in to Fry's. Even then, I've read that many people still had problems after replacement motherboards, so I'm genuinely worried that I may have to return this computer, which is darn shame, because it is a fine machine.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Laptop

Pros: 3d is very very good. Able to take a normal dvd and make it 3d, even 2d hand drawn cartoons are fairly decent in 3d.
Has VeriFace tech witch is fast and very usefull.
Generally Very fast, im an animation major and this thing hawls. Can take up to 400,000 polygons in maya, Gaming is very fast and smooth even on the highest settings.
Keyboard is big, sturdy, quiet and has a nice spring to it.
touch pad is multitouch
speakers are fantastic for a laptop

Cons: Bloat ware. Alot of stuff i'll never use and cant get off the system. Normally for me its no big deal, i have my own copy of win 7 pro i was going to use. However, since it doesnt come with a cd with all the drivers i resorted to lenovos web site only to find the y560D isnt listed in their drivers. My serial number also wouldnt register. So i called customer support and... the lady barley understood me and got all huffy when i told her i was going to format the HD to install my copy of windows.
No deal breaker however.

Other Thoughts: Awesome laptop, really no reason not to get it. Its an amazing gaming rig. Fast multimedia, very usefull tools. And it can all (almost all, give it some time) be done in 3DDDDD!! its fun.
