5 out of 5 eggsbest bang for buck

Pros: solid made sub notebook, MSI didnt skimp on cheap exterior parts, the 10 inch screen and overall size is just right for portability, power is enough to do mid level multi tasking, does handle Vista and is able to use aero theme.

Cons: should have been installed with xp pro instead of home, and a sd slot cover would be nice.

Other Thoughts: even though the msi wind is impossible to get, its definetly worth the hunt to get.

5 out of 5 eggsI likeit

Pros: large screen, good keyboard, large hard disk.

Cons: Short battery life.

Other Thoughts: The wifi driver problem can be solved by installing new driver found on
I am a thinkpad fun and still prefer trackpoint to touchpad.
The keys on the lower right side of the keyboard is cramped.
The user set brightness level of the screen cannot be stored. It will return to the default value whenever you plug in the power.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat System, One Giant Problem

Pros: I love everything about this system. The keyboard is easy to type on, much better then the 701, or 900. The 10" screen is just right. The build quality is
nicely done. The system seems solid.

Cons: The wifi. I run linux and the realtek drivers are not linux friendly. Sad, since there will be a linux machine. I could upgrade the wifi card, but that voids the warranty. The Battery is not good. The 3 cell gives you about 2 hours with wifi and bright screen.

Other Thoughts: The device needs a quality wifi card, and a bigger battery. They should MSI allow you to replace the wifi without voiding the warranty. Asus allowed owners to break the seal to increase memory and void the warranty.

4 out of 5 eggsMac OS X Capable

Pros: Quadruple-booting with Windows XP Home (pre-installed), Windows Vista, Ubuntu Linux, and Mac OS X. Quick boot-times for all OSes except Vista (reminds me of Windows ME). Easy upgrade of HDD to 320GB and RAM to 2GB.

Cons: No internal optical drive. Internal WiFi is terrible. Upgraded the WiFi driver from MSI website; still terrible. Currently using Trendnet TEW-424UB USB adapter for WiFi. No PCMCIA nor Express Card slot.

Other Thoughts: Possibly the best netbook on the market, as of yet. In my opinion, this is the perfect netbook for WEP/WPA cracking.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Internet access device

Pros: Greta device for on the go tasks such as web browsing and email because of its size and weight. This is just the right size for this type of device. The keyboard is surprisingly comfortable. MSI tech support is very quick with email responses.

Cons: Short battery life with 3-cell battery. The single button mouse bar takes some getting used to.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Sweet!

Pros: Light, Great capacity, 45 sec Boot, minimal garbage ware.

Cons: Initially it would connect then disconnect, then repeat on the WiFi. Emailed Tech support, within an hour they email a site for new drivers, installed them, been workin' like a champ ever since. no other cons.

Other Thoughts: Looked at the 900/1 and 12Gb just wouldn't cut it. I like this machine a lot.
Newegg....nice job on answering my questions and fast delivery.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive little package!

Pros: Compared to my 17" notebook. I really like how small and compact the MSI Wind is. The keyboard is just right. Screen quality is very good and Im very impressed.

Cons: Wifi driver needs to be updated from the MSI homepage because it keeps on cutting off. After the Wifi update works flawlessly.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if they put in a dvd drive because it would be perfect. Then again there's no room for a dvd drive. :)

If you need to load something on the MSI Wind, make an ISO file from a CD and use the daemon tool or power iso to mount it as a drive.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat toy and decent computer

Pros: The screen is bright and clear, and the keyboard is big enough to type on. The computer is very quiet and runs cool. The Atom, while not a fast processor (at least on paper) does do a nice job of keeping the machine responsive. You'd be crazy to buy something like this for gaming, but it was a nice surprise to see that Vice City and Jedi Academy run smoothly.

Cons: This machine doesn't have the latest wireless hardware. The hinges could have been a little stiffer. The processor is not very fast, and it runs on an older 90nm Intel chipset (945), so the on board graphics (GMA 950) has poor 3d capabilities, and doesn't do any hardware video decoding.

Other Thoughts: This is a very nice product, and it is very usable for a wide variety of common tasks. I didn't want to list resolution as a con since it is very subjective, but I think a higher resolution such as 1200-800 would have been a better fit for this screen. Overall I'm quite pleased so far. Do keep in mind however, that this fall we may have much faster netbooks based on VIA's new Isaiah core.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat netbook

Pros: This is the first "netbook" I have purchased and the experience has been a pleasant surprise so far. The Atom processor provides speedier operation than I expected. The keyboard seems perfectly sized for my hands, I think anything smaller would be annoying. I was concerned that the LED backlight would be uneven or spotty, but it has very uniform brightness. Construction seems sturdy, but I would change the finish in a few areas if possible. The machine barely gets warm, and although the fan seems to run the whole time, the noise level is very low and you probably only hear it in times of very low ambient noise. The harddrive also seems very quiet, with seeks being barely audible to my ears. Battery life appears to clock in around 2 hours of average use, which isn't amazing, but I believe it's acceptable. Built in peripherals such as Bluetooth, webcam and SD card reader are a welcome addition. IMHO this machine is a better value than the Eee 901.

Cons: The outside of the case does pick up fingerprints, and if the light hits the case right, you can really see them. The palmrest and track pad have a smooth finish that shows sweat and skin oil really well. The trackpad button is a single piece of plastic, but it does have left click and right click functionality, it just took some getting used to. These are just minor quibbles though, and do not detract much from the machine overall.

Other Thoughts: I was considering the HP 2133, but the C7 processor really seemed to be a major flaw with that machine. It would be nice to have the 2133's higher resolution screen. I also felt like the Eee 901 was not as good of a value as this machine. It came down to a toss up between the MSI Wind and the Acer Aspire One. This one showed up at Newegg first, so I went for it. I immediately wiped the harddrive and installed XP Pro. The disk originally was split into three partitions which I found kind of annoying, others may not mind though.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: For only $120 can be easily upgraded to 320GB (the upgrade disk can be purchased from Newegg). The Atom CPU saves energy.

Cons: Shiny top (I hate it), big.

Other Thoughts: A little too big for my taste, I think that Asus eeepc 901 is much better. Smaller, better plastics, sturdier. The only reason for which I bought the MSI Wind, is the possibility of putting a 320GB drive in it. Having that much room in a tiny laptop is great!. I installed four operating systems on it
