4 out of 5 eggsDoes what it's expected and more

Pros: Got the shipment within the anticipated time. Have been pushing the processor limits with some of the programs that I use, and produces admirably. keyboard was not as difficult to get used to as I thought it would be (having worked on Desktops only for decades). Screen is clear to see both when plugged in, and in battery mode. Battery lasts based on estimations for a 3 cell battery. Handles WPA-2 admirably, and Wi-Fi signal allows me to have router in rubble basement of house and still have signal to the backyard.

Cons: Laptop casing is not textured and shows all oils and fingerprints... but is easy enough to clean off. Touch-pad mouse is way too oversensitive in default mode, but can be shut off easily enough for extended periods of typing. Would've rated it higher if the casing was textured to prevent smudges and fingerprints

Other Thoughts: Looking forward to obtaining 6-cell battery for extended use when I begin traveling in the spring and summer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: This laptop is awesome, MSI did an excellent job. Its very light, very small, very fast for the price, the 10" screen is very clear and not too small to make it hard to see. 120gb hard drive fine for a laptop, it plays most older games and a few new games. The WiFi card is excellent, great signal strength, much better than my old laptop. 2.5 hours of battery life. I would recommend buying if you are looking for a very portable laptop.

Cons: Intel GMA...

Other Thoughts: I have not had any problems with the touchpad like other users said, it works fine. I would recommend updating to 2gb of Ram.

4 out of 5 eggsAfter a few weeks

Pros: Installed Vista and it's working great. I've been using this thing daily and it's holding up great. It's fantastic in the book bag, works great for presentations and I watch DVD's on it regularly (external drive). Runs very cool. With the exception of some scratches and glossing on the touchpad, it looks and works just like it did out of the box.

Cons: Touchpad is still a pain in the rear. It works better in Vista, but the cursor moves when holding down one of the touchpad buttons. I think the issue is how closely the buttons and keyboard are placed to the touchpad.

Other Thoughts: Vista installation was smooth and virtually everything worked on initial install. Downloaded and installed all of the latest drivers from MSI just to make sure bases are covered. I run with a 2Gb sd card with readyboost enabled for the entire 2 gigs. Speedy as can be. I generally just close the lid to put it to sleep and hit the power button to wake it back up - screen is up in a couple seconds. I wouldn't even dream of trying Vista without readyboost, though, turns into one slow dog. I'm quite happy with the machine and if it weren't for the funky touchpad behavior, I'd give it 5 eggs.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Investment

Pros: Weight, Versatility, Looks, Power...

When I read about the specs, I was worried that a 1.6Ghz processor wasn't going to cut it when running full page flash animations or other dynamic web content. I was wrong... Even with just 1 gig of ram, this little sucker does all I could ask for an more. The screen on this laptop is really quite nice for the price and it is extremely bright. Even when the laptop is plugged in at my office with all of the lights on I find myself turning the screen down so it doesn't hurt my eyes.

The wireless functions of the laptop seem to work quite well and pick up any wireless network very quickly. Having Bluetooth integrated into a laptop was a first for me, but it sure is nice. I purchased a Logitech bluetooth mouse which works great! I was worried that it would take a while to pair when the laptop is booted but it only takes about 3-4 seconds.

Cons: At first, the touch pad drove me crazy because I would always hit it while typing. The driver that comes loaded with windows does not give you the option to turn off the touchpad while typing. After I found on msiwind.net about the upgraded driver you could download, I was able to fix the issue. One other pet peeve about the touchpad is that you cannot simply slide your finger on the right side of the touch pad to scroll. This is by no means a deal breaker since I usually just use a bluetooth mouse anyway. On occasions when I don't have the mouse I still don't mind using the laptop.

Another thing that I wish were different were the vertical screen size, but once again this definently isn't a deal breaker. My last mini laptop had a screen size of 1024x800 which was suitable for most internet browsing. Now with the resolution on this laptop of 1024x600 I find myself using F11 a lot more than I ever had so I can view the entire page. Not a deal breaker, just something I wasn't used to.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am EXTREMELY happy with this purchase, especially for the price. I am waiting for the 6 cell battery to come down in price so I can have longer battery life, but I am willing to make do for now. Everywhere I take this thing, people are amazed by how small and versatile it is. A question I get asked a lot is how hard it is to type on it? At first, I was a little worried since the "." key is half sized which is slightly akward. After about 10 minutes of typing I was used to it and haven't thought about it since.

Before buying this laptop I was considering the EEEPC 1000H, Dell Mini 9, and Acer Aspire One and I feel that after reading all of the reviews, this laptop is the best option.

Sure a 1024x800 screen would be nice, but I am very happy to have a nice laptop for under $500 that weighs almost nothing.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome little netbook

Pros: So I swapped out Windows XP Home for ubuntu. It is awesome to say the least, handy little netbook. I can take it anywhere. The hardware quality is also astonishing for as small as it is, it is solid as a rock. The LED Backlit display is crisp and clear. The 120GB Hdd is perfect as well, not as big as it's newer younger siblings, (160 GB) but still perfect sized.

Cons: Only issues i've had thus far, are only because I am not used to typing on it, that and the driver compatibility (for the wifi) under linux. While yes, it does work, it is quite bothersome to get it working on newer kernels. The modules become troublesome.

Other Thoughts: None really, other than I wish they would allow us to upgrade the ram without having to jump through hoops like the Asus Eee PC is allowed to as of now.

5 out of 5 eggsMakes an Awesome Macintosh!

Pros: It's an almost ideal compromise for size and weight - powerful, easily expandable, good screen good keyboard. A great laptop.

Cons: The 5 cell battery (when available) is a bit pricey at $150; I'd also have preferred a gig ethernet port rather than fast ethernet but these are minor cons.

Other Thoughts: Upon arrival I did some minor modification (added another gig of RAM and swapped the wifi card) then loaded Mac OS X 10.5.4 (a special installation for this laptop, google for info) after buying a copy of OS X to make it legal. This computer makes an absolutely awesome tiny Mac! It's not officially supported but almost all the hardware is functional and it's great. I'm thrilled that its so easy to get inside, I'm about to put in a larger hard drive so I can dual-boot Windows/Mac. I think at that point it'll be almost perfect for my needs.

4 out of 5 eggsMSI Wind

Pros: I already owned an ASUS Eee, but this Netbook is AMAZING. The shiny, curvy cover is like a fine automobile but that's just the icing on the cake. The screen is bigger, the keys are bigger, the hard drive is bigger... but the overall size is thinner! Simply astounding!

Cons: I know, this is not a workhorse machine.

Other Thoughts: I think I may be inching closer to a desktop replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Netbook

Pros: This machine does what it's intended and more. Did a fresh install of Windows Vista using a lite version to remove all the junk.

- Weight is Light
- Keyboard, people complain about the ",./" keys, not a big deal at all, a slight learning curve, but simple
- Design
- Trackpad is fine
- Display is really nice, LED
- Hinge puts the display in a much nicer position, similar to how Macbooks are
- Portability
- Does what it's made to do easily

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Some folks are confused about upgrading memory. It's easy, open a tech support case on their site stating you want to upgrade your memory. They will make a case and log it with your Serial Number so they know that you upgraded the memory.

Upgrading the memory DOES NOT void warranty if you contact them via their website and open up a tech support case.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI

Pros: This notebook is very light and the processor is powerful enough to run multiple applications at the same time. The keyboard is big enough to type with ease, and the keyboard short cuts (for volume, conserving batteries, etc.) are handy. The touch pad worked find, but I did go to the manufacture website to update the drivers. The screen is big enough to display the web pages properly and looks great. The 6 cell battery lasts about 5-6 hours. The Wifi is much faster than my other laptop. Also, brings a nice case to carry the notebook, and since the battery lasts so long there is no need to carry the power cord.

Cons: The touch pad is somewhat small, but I just use a wireless mouse. Also, it takes a little bit to get use to the positioning of some of the keys on the keyboard. For example, "Fn" is where "Ctrl" would normally be, but then again keyboards do differ somewhat between notebook to notebook so this is not a big problem. Other than that no other cons.

Other Thoughts: I really wanted a light notebook to be able to travel with. This was a great buy. Has lots of features and is powerful enough to do all the things I need to do such as surf the web, email, word processing and watching movies (many at the same time). I definitely recommend this product!

5 out of 5 eggsMSI Wind

Pros: This little notebook is full of power which surprised me. Tested its multi tasking capability the first day I received it. Installing new software, organizing files, removing unneeded software, etc. While performing all these tasks the Intel Atom never hiccupped. The hard drive is more than enough for a portable notebook like this. The LCD monitor is very clear and easy to see in any lighting because it is non reflective. The battery life is amazing for a 3 cell battery. I usually get around 2.5 hours of life under normal use: typing papers, online chatting and surfing. This notebook definitely isn’t a desktop replacement. If you are looking for mobility and usability on the road this is the notebook for you. The keyboard is very easy to get used to. If a 6'-4" brute can use it the average user will have no problem.

Cons: None at the moment

Other Thoughts: I like how the notebook came with little preloaded software. I also like how MSI partitioned the hard drive. They put 40gigs towards the OS and left 70 for storage. Not having a cd/dvd drive is not a problem all you need to do is make ISO copies of your cd's/dvd's and use mounting software.
