4 out of 5 eggsFair Portable PC

Pros: Great Portable Computer!
Tons of Space for a small laptop.
Fast Start up

Cons: Bit slow, needs 2GB RAM, I use a flash drive to speed it up.

Other Thoughts: Great computer, best for MS Office and web browsing, not so much as games or other hardware intensive activites.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality Netbook from Dell

Pros: It casing is solid. Good quality for the price. Screen is bright and easy to read. Easy to set up. Boots up fast. Quiet and getting good battery life.

Cons: None at the moment.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend it. And its a Dell!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value for the price

Pros: - Good build quality for the price. The casing is plastic but feels solid.
- Screen is surprisingly decent. Huge range of available brightness easily accessible via F4/F5 keys. Very clear and text is easy to read. Videos look great.
- Fanless - no dust getting in and clogging up ventilation.
- No CD drive

Cons: - Gets rather hot under stress although I assume the machine is built to handle it.
- I would have liked metal casing but can't complain too much for the price.
- Default software set is sluggish (see below).

Other Thoughts: Loaded up Linux 2.6.36 (Gentoo, Tuxonice). Just about everything works:
Wifi, hibernate, smooth 720p (local file) video playback, touch pad, sound, webcam, card reader. The only things I could not get running were a few function keys.

Wifi is very stable with native Linux drivers. Cold boot time from power switch to login is a decent 40 seconds. Very snappy running DWM desktop, Chromium browser and a GUI music player at the same time.

The laptop specs are perfectly suited for a light weight Linux configuration.

5 out of 5 eggsGood little Netbook

Pros: Works as expected. Great battery life. Good screen quality. No dead pixels. Picked up 2 GB stick of ram though Crucia! ram compatibility finder.

Cons: Ubuntu netbook remix 10.10 does not install the Realtek driver for the wireless card. Following all the forums I cannot get to work, although this is the firs time trying Ubunto, and am not familiar with the software. Very picky about sticks of ram it will allow.

Other Thoughts: Through youtube it'll show you how to upgrade the ram on this, which is upgradeable to 2GB. It is not difficult at all if you follow the video and take your time. Probably a 15 minute job. Win 7 starter is more then enough. Initially I thought I would need to upgrade to premium.

4 out of 5 eggsso far so good

Pros: Battery life up to six
Run multiple software at a high speed
Camrecorder and sound system are the best among the many laptops I use, usually we have to plug in earphones

Cons: keyboard clumsy a little hard to press

Other Thoughts: not bad for the price

4 out of 5 eggsNice lil Netbook

Pros: Cute, extremely portable. Performance is okay with Windows 7 Enterprise

Cons: 1. No dedicated LED indications for Capslock (Dell is providing a software utility for this)
2. No h/w key for Wireless Turn ON/OFF (Dell is providing a software utility for this)
3. Page Dn/Up keys are combined with Up/Dn arrows and needs to press "Fn" key to access this. It is bit annoying for me as I'm familiar with the dedicated Page Dn/Up keys in my other laptops (May not be a big issue for those who are not using these keys :)). Also to work the function keys you need to install Dell's function key application.

Other Thoughts: This is a netbook and not a notebook. Don't expect superman's acivities (like gaming) with the netbook. Its intention is activities which require less processing requirement like browsing, chatting, word processing etc.

4 out of 5 eggsDell Inspiron Mini Netbook

Pros: This is a solid little laptop, ultra portable, nice keyboard, big HDD. Built in webcam! And it's a Dell =D

Cons: Windows 7, McAfee, and AT&T pre-installed. Very slow straight out of the box. The touch pad is a little small and too touchy.

Other Thoughts: Because the pre-installed software and OS were junk and just bogged the computer down, I removed them and installed Linux (Ubuntu netbook) soon after putting the Dell mini through it's paces, and now it runs like an absolute dream!
