2 out of 5 eggsVery Disappointed

Pros: I got the 4GB RAM, 500GB Memory edition, an upgrade to this model. However, the issues are with other aspects, so I believe this critique applies to this edition as well.

It is a relatively powerful laptop for the size. I got it for work on the go, and it does allow me to run Microsoft Office fine.

Cons: I have 3 main problems with this netbook.

1. The processor speed is abysmal. Look elsewhere if you're looking to run much more than Microsoft Office. And even then, it runs them slowly with lag.

2. The touch mouse is an absolute atrocity. Even being careful, I'll somehow touch it accidentally in a way that will somehow delete half of emails Ive written or send me to a random part of a Word document without warning (this has happened to me once while writing this review). It also is just poorly designed. Worst part of the laptop.

3. The battery life is nowhere near advertised. For instance, what inspired me to write this review is this: I have had this netbook for only a couple months. I have rarely used it, since I just hit the road and I use it for travel. I charged it fully last night. In the past 30mins, it has already lost 21% of its battery. A far cry from good battery life for a NETBOOK - the main reason I bought it.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, I was really looking forward to having this. However, I've realized from this experience that I could have bought a cheap laptop for maybe $100 more with better specs and would have been much happier.

I would love to return the thing and upgrade to a laptop, but I believe it's already too late. ACER makes good products in my experience, but this item is a travesty.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Netbook

Pros: Good hard drive size
Good ram amount
Good overall size
Runs most basic computing needs

Cons: A little slow on boot up

Other Thoughts: This is a good little netbook that I bought to run Pro-E for college. It's a little slow to load because Pro-E is a heavy program. It runs well for word processing, spreadsheets, power point presentations, designing websites, and writing short programs.

The only problem I have with this computer is that it's a little slow on boot up with the pre-ware if you install engineering programs and compilers. If you are going to do this, it's a good idea to only install one of the above mentioned.

I would definitely recommend this computer for basic computing needs...like, if you're looking for a job.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat deal for the price

Pros: i bought this for the mobility and battery life and have had it for about 9 months now (paid $279.99 for it). Originally with the 320GB HDD i used to get a little over 7 hrs of battery life.

below are a couple of good suggestions for someone looking at this that i myself made on this netbook:

** add a 4 GB DDR3-1066 mem module (i got one on newegg for about $24.00)
** add a SSD drive (I put an intel 320 series 80 GB SSD and this thing rocks. plus i get up to 9 hrs of battery life now.
** since the SSD is only 80GB, I also addes a 32 GB SD card for additional storage.

I took the 320 GB hdd it came with and converted it to an external USB-3 drive and noe have all the storage that i need when on the road.

Cons: I docked 1Egg due to the CPU speed but if not doing any heavy workloads it should be fine; plus at only 8 watts its the CPU that adds to the longer battery life.

Even with the setup I have, I'm now able to easily use VMare player to play an XP virtual machine that's super fast as well. this helps fealing with older applications i want use and not supporten on Win-7 64 bit.

Other Thoughts: It beats the heck out of a tablet i.e. an Ipad or an Android because those do not let me VPN to work and get my work done efficiently and Lack a physical keyboard wirh standard keys that can be used for managing Windows & Linux/Unix servers remotely
