Size matters, no matter what anybody says, and sometimes smaller is better. Especially if you know what to do with it, and Asus does. The Eee PC 901 is designed for people who need lots of power in a small package. The Intel Atom N270 CPU and 1GB of memory run this Windows XP Home Edition system with power to spare.
The 8.9" screen has a 1024x600 resolution. The smaller screen lets you easily use it on a plane or train. A 12GB SSD Flash drive has plenty of room for you work and entertainment files and has no moving parts, so it saves power.
Designed to be used anywhere there is a built in WiFi controller that supports 802.11b/g/n protocols. If there is no wireless signal around then you can plug into a standard Fast Ethernet connection. A webcam lets you have video chats. You can use a Bluetooth headset or plug into the audio jacks.

Demand Linux
- Pros: I believe the 901 to be the best performing netbook on the market. The benchmarks are fine, size is great, and the community support is awesome. I use mine at work (production), school, and traveling (GPS). It just doesn't get any better.
- Cons: Newegg needs to offer the 901 and 1000 series in Linux. It is ridiculous that Windows continues to dominate in a market where they should be second place. Everyone has the XP versions available and this is simply shameful.
- Other Thoughts: I prefer Linux on the faster 4 gig drive for daily operations and surfing and such. It is very fast and easy to use. I dual boot XP on the slightly slower 16 gig only for those few instances where work or school professors require software that is currently only available in Windows. It makes for a great machine that is fast and responsive to all environments.
This thing is AWESOME!
- Pros: Just about everything about it. It's sufficiently powerful for basic computer usage, wireless and bluetooth work great out of box, and lots of mod options. Also, people say the keyboard is too cramped, but it really only took about 5 minutes to get used to it.
- Cons: not having a cd drive kinda sucks, but daemon tools takes care of that. Also, I have had problems with the sd flash card slot not liking read/write commands.
- Other Thoughts: Install hamachi. Its a VPN that is absolutely exquisite once you use it. I can access all of my files on my desktop, use the cd-rom drive, etc. I'll be studying abroad in Spain, and I should be able to put all of my pictures onto my HD at home!

Perfect
- Pros: Light, small SSD so my 4 yr old daughter can play with it (less fear of HD breaking). Perfect for vacations.
Bluetooth and wifi 'quick switch' enable the user to save battery power when not using those services.
All in all, great netbook, especially for the price!
- Cons: Small keyboard, knew that going in.
- Other Thoughts: If you are expecting a PC processor, you will be disappointed.
Not sure what I got here...
- Pros: Small Portable Only to be used for surfing the web and listening to music with 12gb drives-2 one 4gb and one 8gb SSD drive
- Cons: Had intial long power life, but after the second charge, it dropped from 5 hours to 3.5 hours....
- Other Thoughts: Save up and get something more expensive

- Pros: I like the camera and the 3 USB ports. The size is easy to take when traveling.
- Cons: Unfortunately the size is also a negative. When I type I keep hitting double keys and the cursor jumps around to a different location. I need to type the one finger on each hand.
I do not recommend one this small. I think 10 inches would be better.
