Size matters, no matter what anybody says, and sometimes smaller is better. Especially if you know what to do with it, and Asus does. The Eee PC 904 HA is designed for people that need lots of power in a small package. The Intel Atom N270 CPU and 1GB of memory run this Windows XP system with power to spare.
The 8.9" screen has a 1024x600 resolution. Because of the smaller screen you can easily use it on a plane or train. The screen is driven by the integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics subsystem.
Since the 900HA is designed to be used anywhere there is a built in WiFi controller that supports 802.11b/g protocols. If there is no wireless signal around then you can plug into a standard Fast Ethernet connection. A webcam lets you have video chats.

Buy This Netbook, Buy it again,
- Pros: J.A. Brony here,
Great build quality, easy to view display, great for DVD file playback, surfing, checking e-mail. SD slot for memory cards, 3 USB, wireless, web cam etc...
- Cons: Smudges - not a deal killer and the lettering on the keys is gray as opposed to white. When your an older geezer(like myself) it's a little tough to see in an ambient lit room - not a deal killer.
- Other Thoughts: I bought one for my Son, and then one for myself. Buy this, you will not be disappointed.
I added (replaced) the 1GB with a Corsair 2GB VS ram module bought here at NE. There's only one slot for memory so the 1GB you remove can be used to scrape paint off you newly painted windows or tape it to your forehead and say "DVD" real loud.
Near Perfect Ultra-Portable Laptop
- Pros: -Small but still perfectly usable
-Built in webcam, two mics, front speakers and speakers on the monitor.
-Super long battery life. I have been getting 6 hours out of mine.
-Easy to set up as duel boot with (Ubuntu 8.04)
Note:In order to get 8.04 to work I had to spend an hour or two finding the fix for unsupported hardware but it was all on the net, and gave me more experience with Ubuntu so I am happy.
-Runs Windows XP and Ubuntu 8.04 fast and stable
-Lots of drive space
-Runs cool and quiet
-Looks sleek and rugged
-My wife says its "cute" but us men don't use that word
-The Power supply has a huge cord and its a 12VDC 3A output so you should be able to run it off of any 12V source that will support 3A draw.
-Comes with a soft carry sleeve with a zipper so you can just toss it in a regular bag without it getting damaged.
-Hinge is super beefy, much more sturdy than my HP laptop's.
- Cons: -Could use a few more USB ports, and maybe an Express PCIMCA slot.
-Keyboard takes a little getting use to. The size isn't really an issue but the shift key on the right is in a weird spot and I often hit the up arrow when I am trying to hit the shift key. The shift key is actually on the right side of the up arrow key.
-Other than that I haven't found any other complaints.

Wonderful Portable Computer
- Pros: This unit is excellent, with extremely compact size, Windows XP, small charger, long battery life, and built-in devices (wireless, webcam, card reader, etc). The touchpad is configured with several intuitive motions (a la Mac) for scrolling and more. Despite the slower processor than most computers, the speed deficiency isn't very noticeable for everyday applications.
- Cons: Expect to spend a month or so getting used to the keyboard. The right shift key is particularly troublesome due to its reduced size. Also, you will have to train yourself to keep your thumbs up while typing, lest you tap the mousepad. The wireless eats up power; expect it to roughly halve the expected duration of a battery charge. The pre-loaded programs are all but useless. I suggest downloading several open-source/freeware programs to augment its functionality, most notably security programs (firewall, antivirus, antimalware, etc.)
- Other Thoughts: For use as an ultra-portable computer you can take anywhere, this unit is outstanding. You can surf the web, do basic office work, listen to music, and more. However, this is not something well suited to a primary home computer.

- Pros: *Perfect size to disappear in a large day bag but big enough to actually use

*I found the keyboard very usable, keys feel good
*Nice bright and crisp screen
*3 USB ports, web cam, built in wife....all works great
- Cons: The only thing I dont like about this netbook is the touchpad. I hate touchpads because they are always in the way as I type.....and I use a wireless mouse, so I mostly disable them. This particular netbook doesnt have a hotkey to disable/enable the touchpad. So I leave it disabled all the time and then have to use my Windows-FU and they keyboard to enable it if I need to do something quickly and dont want to drag out the wireless mouse.
Yeah....its a lame *Con* but thats really my only complaint.
- Other Thoughts: Just order the 2GB memory module from Newegg when you order this netbook.....install it right away. Greatly improves performance, although I bought one of these for a buddy and left it at 1GB (he can buy his own upgrades) and it worked quite well honestly.

- Cons: None! there is the lack of a cd drive but the SD slot makes up for it completely. I didnt expect a disc drive obviously because its a netbook.
- Other Thoughts: Great if you like to carry a computer around with you. i can fit mine in the inside pocket of my winter coat! :D
