5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy, Best Netbooks

Pros: Price, Light Weight, Battery Life, Great keyboard setup, Mouse touchpad is awesome (little ripples make it easy to know where its at.), love the Glossy Blue, 160GB is enough space for any netbook.

I love this thing, I take it to class, to study, chilling with friends and listening to music. By the end of all of that, I still have hours of battery life left. Hybrid engine is a great mechanism, I can choose power saving, High, or super performance helps out with what I'm doing.

Cons: 1 GB ram, If you really want to get this thing going well, Pop a 2GB DDR2 ram stick in there and utilize its full potential. It speeds it up tremendously and helps multi-tasking.

The charger end is a tiny little metal tip and it ended up breaking, but that was my own fault, but if it was a bit bigger, It might not have broken when I was fiddling with it.

Other Thoughts: I recommend buying this product, ASUS is the best company for Netbooks, They are incomparable. I will never stray away from ASUS, I might even invest in one of their great laptops,

5 out of 5 eggslappy

Pros: Light weight, good battery life, wife is happy. WiFi card works like a champ. Nice bright screen. Includes a nice sleeve/cover.

Cons: Not too wild on the preinstalled office 60 day trial

Other Thoughts: Great notebook, it gets hauled around every where.

5 out of 5 eggsTotally worth it!

Pros: Battery life is as advertised. I easily get 8-10 hours of just normal web surfing, and 6+ hours of movie watching, and that includes powering an external DVD drive.
I installed the 2GB of ram (super easy) and put on Windows 7 Pro and it's awesome. I haven't tried Aero yet though.

Cons: Glossy screen. You just can't see things on the screen if you're outside, the glare and glossy screen is a killer.

Other Thoughts: I'm a big guy (6'4", 250lbs) and I can type just fine. When I carry it around my wife jokes that I have my man-purse with me but I point out her giant 10 lb laptop and she shuts up.
I am VERY happy with this. I've had it for over 6 months now and the battery life is still going strong.

5 out of 5 eggsGood choice

Pros: Very portable
Easy to use
Long battery life (I think)

Cons: Virtually none.

Other Thoughts: Two things: my battery meter seems to have a life of it's own. Right now it reads 69%, but as for the time it has left, its gone from 8 hrs 4 min to 7 hrs 43 min to 6 hrs 7 min and everywhere inbetween. I've heard that there are issues with the battery charger, but I'm not certain if this is it. Also, it won't connect to my home wireless network, but that seems to be a problem with the network itself as opposed to this neat little machine. I upgraded to the 2 GB RAM like everybody with "Very High" tech knowledge said, too bad it doesn't come standard.

5 out of 5 eggsRuns Pretty Good

Pros: Lasts around 10 hours with Windows 7. Upgraded it to 2gb but scratched the cover during the process :( Recommend upgrading it to Win 7 because it boosts and shut downs faster than XP. U can get all the drivers from the ASUS site. It did come with useless programs - but doing a fresh installment of Win 7 got rid of it. Don't need to charge it everyday - do it like once every three days. It is extremely light, I bring it to class everyday. N Wireless works now; there was a bios update for it like 1-2 months ago. Touchpad is easy to use - has multi-touch functions - don't really need a mouse. It also comes with a free Eee pc sleeve so I could bring it anywhere without getting it scratch.

Cons: Slow processor. As a result, the netbook lags when watching videos on ie, firefox or media player. However, if you use VLC or Chrome, the videos lag less. Screen is very small compared to my 17.4" laptop. Might need to get use to the keyboard because it is a bit smaller than normal laptops.

Other Thoughts: I would prefer to be able to watch movies even thought I kno netbooks aren't meant for movies or games.
The AC adapter sometimes doesn't work - gotta totally discharge all the electricity sometimes by taking the entire thing apart and leaving one part of the ac attached to the netbook, the other part disconnected. Wait like 1hour to 1 day and then try again. It should work, if not repeat the process until it does.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Mini

Pros: Great little PC for normal duty computing, email and net cruising. And for the price very hard to beat. It is not my heavy duty processing machine (for that I have a quad core with 7), but, it is the one I use the most/daily. Fast, little (not a bulky laptop and screen to deal with), and flexible.

Bought one for myself and after using mine for a while my wife decided to donate she old laptop (15") to the home entertainment system and get one for herself. She has never looked back.
Fast - 1.66 handles most tasks; XP3 - Fully developed no give ups unlike light 7; 160G fast enough and holds as much as one really needs; great clam shell design - close it, throw it in its case and go

Cons: Wish they hadn't split the drive into two 80Gs. Not a real problem, just not the way I would have chose to do it. Not worth putting them together. In fact, for my wife's machine it might be a good thing - keeps her away from the system files...she can be dangerous.

Other Thoughts: No regrets...would buy another one anytime

5 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: This review is coming from an IT admin / power user perspective. This netbook comes out of the box with quite impressive speed, and if you're at all comfortable playing with things like gmabooster and setfsb and tweaking system services per Black Viper's guide, this thing down right rocks. Setfsb is particularly risky if you don't know what you're doing, and I'm sure it probably voids the warranty so do at your own risk.

My experiences with the unit come from the perspective of usage after having applied these tweaks. Multitasking is no problem even with 1 GB ram, I can run Firefox with multiple tabs, pidgin, yahoo messenger, and an office 2007 app with ram to spare and quickly flip between apps. Web browsing and video no problem, hulu full screen tv watching, espn videos, flash, no problem.

I'm having a hard time shaking ac adapter paranoia, usually after a couple hours I'm starting to think about where my plug is but I've still got 70% battery with this guy.

Cons: The track pad is a little weird, little bumps on it take getting used to, but I found if you turn up the sensitivity you don't notice them as much.

Case is fingerprint magnet, I just keep a little microfiber cloth in its provided carrying case to wipe it down now and then, no biggie.

Other Thoughts: Good sharp screen. Feels solid, very little flex in the case. Designed it right with small feet on the bottom that keep it lifted up enough for good airflow when sitting on a flat surface.

Games. It's running GMA950 graphics so we have to be a little realistic with expectations in that department, that said I was pleasantly surprised. GTA Vice City runs perfectly at full graphics. Trackmania runs good with graphics all the way down, only complex tracks make it stutter. Torchlight runs good in netbook mode, slows a bit in areas with lots of enemys / complex levels but still very playable.

My only hold up on getting one sooner was the low screen resolution, but I'm actually finding myself preferring it for this size screen, fonts are a really good size, and some firefox theme tweaks open up the browser view. Most sites are 1024 width anyway and they all look good.

Final verdict, amazing. This thing is so versatile it's absurd.

3 out of 5 eggsSighhh

Pros: Good netbook liked the style speed etc .

5 out of 5 eggsNice Netbook

Pros: Outstanding purchase. I am using this to do Master's work, and I am so very pleased. The lightweight, battery length, and storage capacity for this netbook is fantastic. I have had to charge my battery only once a week, instead of daily like I have had to do with larger laptops. I did upgrade to 2GB of RAM instead of the 1Gb it comes with.

I have recommended this to many people, and I know of two that have bought this model.

Cons: The netbook should come with 2GB standard, with an option to upgrade to either 3 or 4 GB, would be about perfect then.

Like others, I am not a big fan of the touchpad, but for about $10, you can get a mouse for this machine. Just a thought.

4 out of 5 eggssolid netbook

Pros: I purchased this netbook as a travel companion and its served its purpose well thus far. Product is well built and compact enough to take anywhere. It fits perfect on airplane seat tray. I was able to upgrade to Windows 7 without any issues, I also upgraded to a 2GB sodimm and saw much better performance. Multi-tasking is not an issue, I was able to play movies and have a couple of other lite apps open before I noticed any performance issues. The battery life is outstanding, I forgot my charge on a recent 5 day trip to mexico and fortunately did not need it. Builtin Bluetooth is an added bonus for integration with a cell phone or other devices (mouse!) . The sd card reader makes transferring digital pictures a breeze! I like that a zippered sleeve was included with this guy.

Cons: Not a lot of show stopping cons, but a few minor annoyances. First the touch pad is not the best, using a Bluetooth or wireless mouse solves this issue. The sound and speakers are average at best, but still okay for basic media. 1GB of RAM can be a definite limitation, I would love to see this come with 2GB right out of the box. Not sure the thought process behind the evenly split disk partitions, I plan to eventually resize these to something more practical. Bloatware was installed w/ XP but this all went away after I installed Windows 7.Lastly and most notably, this baby attracts finger prints! If you have kids you be wiping this thing down constantly.

Other Thoughts: It is afterall a NETBOOK and not a NOTEBOOK so my expectations were not high. I was not expecting to NHL 2010 on it. I will say that this computer as exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend upgrading to 2GB if you are a poweruser and plan to do more than surf & pictures with it. For about $40 it makes the netbook a bit more functional and helps with performance. Keep in mind you will need to flash(upgrade) the bios after installing the new 2GB sodimm.
