5 out of 5 eggsReal Nice Unit

Pros: After doing some research I purchased this netbook and am very pleased with it. Can't go wrong for the price and name. White color stands out and is not a fingerprint magnet. Awesome battery life. Great for traveling. If you are looking for a small quality netbook look no further.

Cons: None Very Pleased

Other Thoughts: Purchase a external CD/DVD drive and you will be golden with this unit. Newegg's fast shipping and excellent customer service is #1

4 out of 5 eggsgood toy to carry with you

Pros: -small size
-battery life
-integrated webcam
-fun little thing, will turn a few heads... (I have a nice blue one)

Cons: -limited computing power
-comes with Win 7 starter which is really limited
-I don’t like the touchpad buttons which require more force than my Dell
-screen IS small…

Other Thoughts: I bought this mostly for travel and going to meetings. It serves its purpose, it boots fast and is light, but computing power is very limited. I am going to get the 2 GB RAM upgrade and see how it helps. Opening Word, Explorer and something else at the same time and toggling between these windows is slow and frustrating. I found that web browsing is slow too, possibly because of limited RAM. But to edit some text on a plane, backing up camcorder on vacation, and other simple tasks, it is just fine.

4 out of 5 eggsasus is the standard

Pros: -matte finish, less fingerprints
-keyboard is easy to type on
-hdmi is great feature for movies, etc
-better webcam than previous models
-fan is pretty quiet

Cons: -power brick gets very hot while charging
-AC plug is pretty small, still afraid I'm going to snap it off by accident
-heavier towards the battery side of the netbook, easy to tip forward in some cases
-I sometimes tap the trackpad by accident since it's so close to the spacebar key

Other Thoughts: Used Windows 7 once, only to install Jolicloud OS. Battery life better in Win 7, 11-12 hours vs Jolicloud OS 5-6 hours on a full charge at low brightness (2 of 16) and wireless on. Thought that 12 hour mark is achieved with 1 or 2 brightness and the processor at 800ghz or so? The powersave setting on the Super Hybrid Engine. Gives you more time but underclocks the processor a lot.

streaming 720p is choppy on youtube, 480p is fine though.

Despite some hiccups, Jolicloud is my favorite OS for the netbook. Xpress Gate OS that's included is super fast, 5-6 second boot time with all the netbook basics, browser, image viewer, etc. Good if you just want to get on internet really fast.

Great product and design, super fast delivery, very pleased with decision.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat nebook at a great price

Pros: This is THE netbook to get. Small. Great battery life. I did a lot of research on various netbooks, mainly comparing price and design/feel of the unit because the tech specs on netbooks don't vary much. I decided this is the best netbook for the price, keeping in mind that I wanted a newer model (atom n450) and something with 6-cell battery that doesn't stick out. I am very happy with this purchase, and always happy with Newegg.

Cons: Pre-loaded software. Still not sure about Win 7 Starter, my main concern is battery life and will be comparing battery life using different Operating systems, I hope Win 7 Starter isn't a battery hog compared to XP and Ubuntu (or other Linux).

Other Thoughts: Great battery life, but not quite 11 hours with Win 7 (thinking of trying Win XP or Linux.)

Newegg is great.

5 out of 5 eggsCan't be better

Pros: -nearly crystal clear resolution on monitor
-white color of this netbook is very catchy. people compliment on my netbook as soon as i pull it out in the library
-light, handy, easy to carry. unlike other netbooks it's not slippery on the exterior, so it won't slip out of your hand
-mouse pad is very smooth and not-too-sensitive. just the right balance
-carries super performance, high performance, battery saving and auto battery saving. you can tell a big difference in these functions.
-charger is small and handy
-windows 7 starter is good on this netbook. all programs work fast and smooth so far.
-good performance on high def/blu-ray movies. if use super performance, 0-lag
-able to change font, window interface easily
-sound system is loud and clear
-strong wireless sensitivity

Cons: -battery life short than advertised. definitely does not last 11 hours. max around 8 hours when new.
-unable to set wallpaper, but there's a way to go around it. do some research you'll find out.
-no aero function

Other Thoughts: -overall extremely easy to use. i highly recommend it. free shipping, tax free and warranty provided for $291 sold on newegg it's definitely an excellent bargain.
-i've only owned this netbook for two days. i'll have to see if it's consistent after a few weeks

5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased

Pros: Matte screen, multi-touch touchpad, keyboard seems well-built w/GREAT hotkey funtionality. Standard 92% keyboard that takes the top smaller (numbers and F keys) bottom larger appoach (letter keys)

Windows 7 "cripple": I find this OS works quite well.

This little thing is GREAT for not just surfing the web but also light multi-tasking, multiple tabs while running and IP blocker and antivirus (Microsoft Security Essentials) and a few other programs works great.

Streams Netflix at full screen using Silverlight plugin no problem. No issues with flash videos (NON HQ/HD). Hulu fullscreen does have issues.

Dispite being plenty of computer for the money, the wifi isn't my bottleneck. I believe my FiOS router isn't even N capable so don't let that be a selling point for you to spend extra money on something you want see a performance increase on.

This color is actually cheaper than the Blue and Black (also textured) versions by a few bucks on newegg currently.

Cons: The color makes it difficult to keep clean, you'll notice every spec of dirt or hair.

The washer on the other side of the screw that gives access to the user-replacable memory makes for difficult removal, I had to put some torque on it to pop it out.

Surface area of touchpad is quite small, I'd like to have a little more space here.

Battery life on power-save setting w/very low brightness isn't as advertised, best 100% reading I've seen has been less then 8 hours.

The lack of more than one function key is somewhat off-putting.

Partitioned harddrive

The built in web-browsing OS...ugh.

I wouldn't want to use this thing with 1g of DDR2 (stock); it may be sufferable but I opted for a $50 stick of Crucial. Save orig stick encase you have a warr. issue.

It's certainly not for intensive apps like graphically intensive video games or items that weigh heavy on the CPU of require more then 1/2 a gig of memory (stock)

Other Thoughts: Often times you'll read complaints about windows 7 starter, I find the sited limitations to be mostly untrue or irrelevant. (Asus has some bloatware that enables you to change the desktop background...1024x600 and it's not very smart but it works...more than one user CAN be assigned to the OS)

Download a free uninstaller and get rid of the programs you're not going to us. It took me quite a bit of time to just uninstall office, other users may want to get rid of the packaged wifi program and the Eee PC funtions (Share ect.) PLEASE do yourself a favor and uninstall the BAD trial antivirus software. Avast is an option, or Microsoft Security Essentials is available to starter editions (it auto-verifies genuine) which is more comprehensive but more intensive...both are free.

Don't use IE if possible, I use FF, but others chose Opera and Chrome.

You'll get an additional 90g's of harddrive for cheap, and the harddrive is suppose to be somewhat difficult to replace and it voids

4 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: Awesome price (sub $300) - Almost full-sized keypad, quiet - Nice look in white and the texture adds a little pizazz - Small, light weight - Great battery life (I'm getting almost 10 hours).

Cons: CPU seems to make a very faint, yet high-pitched noise when not processing (which is most of the time). In a loud setting it's not noticeable, but in a quiet room I know it's there!

Scrolling Up/Down needs to be done with two fingers on the touchpad instead of the typical vertical slider - Doesn't always work well and I have small hands.

Other Thoughts: I've been meaning to pick up a netbook for a few years now and finally found one that met my needs. Very happy with it so far even using the installed W7 Starter. Also installed a stick of 2GB RAM (800Mhz FSB speed, DDR2 - It's not listed anywhere and was hard to find which kind).

You can easily change the wallpaper on this model via one of the ASUS pre-installed programs that works on W7 - No comment for other OS's.

4 out of 5 eggsWorth every penny

Pros: -Low cost, for under $300 you recieve a fully functional machine that can do anything a casual user or a user who has a desktop (like me) for high-power stuff could possibly want.
-Runs cool. After normal use, my previous mobile (a Toshiba Satellite M55-S135) would be almost too hot to handle.
-While smaller than normal, the keyboard isn't that much smaller, and is easy to acclimate to for a hunt n' peck typist like myself.
-Lightweight. I can walk around with this like I'm carrying a small dinner plate.
-Splashtop instant boot OS included. I don't have to boot the included Windows 7 if I just want to get on the net. It even has its' own separate power button.

Cons: -The mousepad feels off. The button, while still a two-button configuration, feels unwieldly to operate.

Other Thoughts: As any netbook user will tell you, if you buy a product like this expecting to run Maya while watching a blu-ray and work on your finances while vid-chatting with your brother overseas and remoting to his desktop to give him tech support, you are in for a big dissapointment. This is perfect for what a Netbook does.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Netbook (rated 4.5)

Pros: -overall a great netbook!
-great for surfing the web, email (app), and, Microsoft Office
- keyboard has a, quote "bouncy" feel according to my wife
and it is easily learned.
- stays very cool, even on cloth surfaces
-the N450 processor does great, people who say Windows 7 is sluggish: What are you using it for? these particular computers have very particular set of uses, so stop complaining that the netbook isn't running these huge programs. these are highly portable computers that are Fantastic for web surfing, email, taking notes in class with microsoft word and others.
-in short: this laptop is great for all those things!
Great Buy!

Cons: - ugh....if Asus could figure out the touch pad and buttons. They could definitely be worked on for better handling.
- The buttons are hard to push, but you can just tap the touch pad, which is a savior.
- the touch pad is hard for scrolling (but love the zooming in/out and rotating)

also don't watch any youtube hd videos

would have given this netbook a full 5 if not for the touch pad and buttons.

Other Thoughts: solid buy! it is the best budget netbook out there bar none!

i'm actually writing this review on the netbook, and everything is smooth!

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic netbook

Pros: This is a great netbook! For those who say it's too slow, I'd like to know what you're trying to do. My web browser is Chrome (to maximize screen real estate, highly recommended) and I use Digsby as my IM client. I'm able to play youtube videos and alt-tab to digsby without any hiccups at all. Hulu.com plays fine too. Windows 7 is more than fast enough, though I plan to upgrade (if it handles W7 Starter, it can obviously handle the others. Power wise, there's no difference). The matte screen is GREAT. Glossy screens reflect too much light, but with a matte finish I can keep brightness low and still see what I'm doing, prolonging the battery life. And I absolutely adore the textured finish; glossy finishes make my computer feel gross after a while and leave fingerprints, but there's no problem with that here.

Cons: All these are pretty nit picky, but that's a good thing. There's nothing really BAD about this netbook. The webcam isn't the greatest. I dislike the chromed mouse button for two reasons--it has a glossy finish which I hate, and it takes too much pressure to hit (so I just tap the mousepad). The keyboard is VERY loud and also flexes everywhere when I type. I don't type particularly hard, either, so it's definitely not just me. The border around the screen is black, which I like, but it's also glossy which means whenever I open the lid, I leave a massive thumb print. The only other real con is the size of the touchpad. It's so small I end up basically rubbing it repeatedly just to move around.

Other Thoughts: Simply a great netbook. Stylish, light, fast. Even with the cons, those are just tiny things. I was planning on upgrading the ram to 2gb but trust me, even with 1gb of RAM it's great. Highly recommended.
