4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad for a netbook

Pros: -Works as it should for a netbook. - Small and handy.

Cons: -Not great battery life. -Can get hot on lap. -Comes loaded with some bloat-ware (though not tough to remove)

Other Thoughts: The battery life was a bit disappointing, but it's the only net book i've owned. I got a laptop "pad" with fans which fixes all heat issues. When i got it almost a year ago it was about $90 more, and is still just slightly overpriced knowing you can get an ipad for not much more (?). Can play a few games (football manager...etc.).

3 out of 5 eggscrazy mouse pad/non functioning mouse pad

Pros: I am a true avid user for Asus products and love the laptop. Very well balanced laptop power consumption to battery life. Great laptop to travel with, good weight.

Cons: Come to find out there is a short between the mouse pad and the internal metal shielding. This causes the mouse to not work or just go crazy.

Other Thoughts: If it where not for the grounding issue i would give it 5 egg. From the research I did on the web shows this to be common a problem with this model.

Good luck all.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat netbook

Pros: Great netbook for pretty much everything ...

Cons: except for gaming since the graphics card is obviously not good enough to handle any large games.

Other Thoughts: Great netbook but I'd go with a cheaper model since they'll do about the same overall

5 out of 5 eggsawesome!

Pros: Very powerful, runs anything i throw at it. Plays WoW and Rift just fine. Streams 1080p videos great.

Cons: wish it had more ram ><

Other Thoughts: Buy an extra stick of ram for this bad boy. :D

5 out of 5 eggsgreat netbook

Pros: - great screen
- fast dual core processor
- comes with windows 7 home premium and not the lame starter
- plays 720p movies connected to my HDTV

Cons: - came with 48 programs installed. after a couple hours of bloatware removal I got it down to 14 programs. And am now back up to around 30 programs after installing all my stuff.
- I have had the netbook for a couple months and the power plug is still in good condition, but just looking at it makes me shudder
- can't play 1080p without tweaking

Other Thoughts: Common practice is to use a netbook as a complimentary computer for people who have a desktop or and more powerful notebook. The 1215N is powerful enough to serve as a person's one and only computer (unless you're a gamer).

4 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: * A lot of power in a tiny package
* Great battery life
* Very portable yet still has a comfortable keyboard

Cons: * No built bluetooth (I know, I'm spoiled)
* Wi-fi switch is tied to a function key and not a switch on the side - this makes it tricky if you're on an airplane.
* Had to RMA the first unit because the power button didn't work. In order to turn off the computer I had to unplug the AC adapter and pull out the battery. Newegg got me the replacement right away. Good job!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome HD .mp4 player

Pros: Plays BD's converted to .mp4 and AVCHD perfectly. Doubles as a small laptop. Very portable.
Wi-Fi rocks. 3 USB ports. Upgradable RAM.
SDHC slot, HDMI, switchable graphics...
Nice little unit as long as you understand it is not a Gaming Laptop.

Cons: Wanted to install SSD but am not after reading reviews. Without that, I can't justify upping the RAM to 4GB or installing a 64-bit OS.
Newegg has been out of the leather 12.1" Envoy case for weeks.
Power plug IS wimpy.

Other Thoughts: I am hoping to eventually see a custom shock resistant sleeve, leather carrying bag, heavy-duty battery, and techniques for replacing HDD.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat portable laptop for the money

Pros: Great screen. Awesome HDMI and video playback (although it has trouble with a 4.5GB mp4 video and skips every few minutes) I have tried a few games, battlefield 2 works great, age of empires 3 works. I have ubuntu running in a virtual machine- works great for everyday tasks. Laptop does not get very warm as my previous netbooks had. Battery life has been from 4.5-6 hrs with moderate use. Overall great bang for buck.

Cons: Keyboard. Bends and flexes when you press on the keys. I got used to it quickly, but it takes away from the sturdiness of the laptop. From what I have seen, this is the only drawback.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Good keyboard. Fast. Long battery life.

Cons: Weak web cam, but that's standard for these netbooks.

Other Thoughts: The 2 gigs of ram come as separate 1 gig sticks. So if you want to upgrade to 4 gigs, you'll need to replace the lot.

4 out of 5 eggsNo Bluetooth

Pros: Large screen for a netbook. Nice styling. Very attractive.

Cons: Pre-installed junk. No bluetooth, inspite of the fact that bluetooth software is pre-installed. Not as snappy as expected.

Other Thoughts: I've come to expect bluetooth in just about every laptop on the market, and would not have bought this had I known it wasn't there, but I'll get a BT dongle and plug it in when I need to use it. It's primary function is to watch videos on the go, and for that it works fine. I had to uninstall most of the Asus apps & trialware because I don't see myself ever using them. Still a lot of junk on there that I'll probably uninstall after I figure out what they do/don't do. Everything else, though, is a plus!
