5 out of 5 eggsGreat little computer

Pros: Bought it for my wife 2 years ago. This thing is great! It's had fantastic battery life and produces little heat. Surprisingly fast for a netbook; the second core makes a huge difference!

Cons: keyboard is a bit small, and there isn't a way to reinstall windows if the hard drive breaks or you want to replace it.

4 out of 5 eggsKeyboard could be better

Pros: Price, size, weight, battery life.

Cons: Keyboard: some of the keys, namely the left shift and the forward slash ("/") don't work when you press them off center. They work fine if you hit them dead center though.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent netbook until battery died

Pros: Portable and great battery life. Worked well for school.

Cons: Processor had issues at times, mainly when streaming video. Asus bloatware...

And finally, the battery just died. I've only had it for 9 months.

4 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 Starter is hell

Pros: Great battery life easily 6 hours using it nonstop (ive watched 3 movies on netflix in a row before even thinking about charging it). Portable and reliable. It is actually much easier to type on the keyboard than a lot of bigger laptops.

Cons: Windows 7 starter is a real PITA. It seems to be a memory hog and like most have commented, is probably best to get rid of and put XP on. There is some bloatware but nothing that is not manageable. I am removing one egg because of windows 7 starter.

Other Thoughts: Get it if you want something that can be taken everywhere and you dont want to worry about the battery.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent Netbook

Pros: Sturdy, professional-looking, and the battery life is amazing, even without the ASUS power-saving software.
My first experience with a netbook, and performance is definitely slower, but it does what I need. Even plays video well up to 480p, though the integrated graphics are noticeably weak.
Native resolution is fine, I put the taskbar on the left and set it to auto-hide, so about 10% more vertical space. (Hate the Ribbon in Office 2010, though - takes up way too much space on this little screen)
Keyboard feels good, I can type almost as fast as on a full-size.
Popped in a 2GB stick of Crucial RAM and it works just fine.
Lots of useful ports, but 2 of the 3 USB ports are USB 3.0 - so my mouse and thumbdrive have to take turns on the one 2.0 port.

Cons: Atom dual-core is as slow as an old Pentium 4.
Does not save screen adjustments in the Intel GMA Driver, every time it goes off (which is a lot, I have it turn off after 2 minutes on battery) it pops back on with the default settings. This may be an issue with Win7 Starter, I don't know.
GMA 3150 cannot hide/unhide the taskbar without stuttering.
ASUS bloatware. 2 days to get everything updated with current drivers and BIOS, and everything unnecessary removed.
IMO the power-saving software isn't worth it because with Power Saving selected, performance slows to an unacceptable crawl, and the battery does fine without it. Still get 8 hours on average - plenty for taking it to work with me and leaving the power cord at home.
The right Shift key is too small, and using Home and End requires holding the Fn key.
The top 20% of the touchpad is not that sensitive, and two-finger scrolling requires separating your fingertips a decent amount.
But, you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: COME ON people. The mouse is "jumping everywhere" when you type because your thumbs are hitting the touchpad. Just disable tap-to-click in the mouse control panel. Shame on ASUS support for not immediately knowing the problem and solution.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Everything is perfect in this netbook. Nothing else is needed.

Cons: None that I know of yet.

Other Thoughts: Upgrade to Win7 Home premium and the ram. After this you will find this machine as good as a real laptop.

4 out of 5 eggsKeyboard glitches

Pros: What everyone has stated - size, battery life, overall convenient and fairly fast.

Cons: Keyboard glitches

Other Thoughts: Tried several things with ASUS customer support, which, I must say, seems very helpful and easily accessible. Cursor (as I type) is still acting crazy jumping from field to field. We tried hard reset and driver updates so far. I think next step is product replacement, not sure what else to do to fix this issue.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome replacement!

Pros: Everything that is stated about this netbook and its true capabilities is almost near true. Battery life is AMAZING, I was working on a project for school from 5pm-midnight and this little guy still had roughly 25% battery life left. This was using wifi, bluetooth, and the screen. After that the laptop lasted me one full day at school and needed recharging. I like the color of the laptop also. Much more importantly, performance. Dual core (with 2 more theoretical cores) make this little guy a powerhouse even for its size. Don't get me wrong, it cannot go and play video games but for everyday tasks it does what it is supposed to do and is extremely efficient. This netbook did not come with that much bloatware which is a pro for me because that means less uninstalling of useless programs :P

Cons: There are 3 main complaints I have about this laptop but nothing that i was not aware of before i purchased it and nothing that would make me want to dock an egg.
First thing, is the shift key on the right side of the keyboard. It is ridiculously small and very hard to get used to, so i would end up hitting either the up arrow or even the side arrow instead of shift.
Second thing is even though this thing is matte black it still attracts fingerprints like any other eee pc. I previously owned a glossy black eee pc and the figerprints were more obvious but easier to rub off. With the matte black color it seems as though the fingerprint is "stuck" unless you use some cleaning product. But in all this does not affect the performance of this netbook just aesthetics.
Third thing is the hinge on the screen when closed is not very tight when closed completely. By this i mean if you were to take the laptop and shake it up and down the lid would fly up and smack onto the netbook itself.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this netbook lives up to its predecessor which unfortunately died on me after almost 2 years. I will always love netbooks purely because i have a desktop at home to do all the heavy lifting. The only thing I am interested in is portability and battery life. I know ahead of time buying a netbook i am not getting the most powerful thing, but this netbook is plenty for the on the go college student who writes papers, takes notes, and needs to make it through the day on one charge of the battery.
BUY IT! You will not be disappointed!

4 out of 5 eggsStill good but keyboard issues

Pros: Still a great solution for somebody who can't use company internet at work for personal use. Get a "pocket modem", plug it in and forget it.

Cons: Keyboard is acting goofy. I'd like for manufacturer to provide some input as to why. I don't think this is a mechanical problem - very random typing glitches, where cursor reappears in a different part of typing field, very frustrating.

Other Thoughts: Absolutely upgrade to 2gb RAM for around $13.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's a netbook

Pros: Cheap.
Good battery life.

Cons: Windows 7 Starter.
1 GB RAM (2GB Max)
Bloatware, lots of it.
It's a netbook.
Poor support.

Other Thoughts: There's hardly anything for 64bit Windows. You have to rely almost entirely on 32bit drivers and apps. To get the function keys working, you need the 32bit app along with the 64bit driver (meaning you have to download both versions of the driver).

I never got ASUS Live Update working in Win 7 64bit. I'm probably better off without though. The EEE Dock gets old fast.

Be prepared to lose wireless access when doing a clean install.

Upgrading to 2GB of RAM is recommended.

For $250, it was a pretty good deal. If I didn't need it for work, I wouldn't get it. I prefer desktops.
