5 out of 5 eggsDo not upgrade to Jelly Bean

Pros: I love my tablet. Never leave the house without it. This is my third tablet. i successfully rooted my first so i know a little bit about Android. the tablet came with Ice Screen Sandwich. i waited months before i upgraded knowing that JB didn't support flash. I finally upgraded thinking that maybe any bugs would have been worked out i was tired of seeing the update notification. i am sorry that i upgraded. the tablet now freezes up and lags even when reading a book. i have to hit the power button, swipe the home screen and then i am good to go. but it happens often. i have even done a cold boot a couple of times and that has not helped. I just keep hoping that an update to JB is coming soon. Looking at android forums, others are having the same problems. Even while typing this, i had to hit the power button because the incorrect letters were popping up as i typed. I would not let this keep you from buying this wonderful tablet. Just keep ice cream sandwich on it. Maybe Asus will release a firmware update to enable Jelly Bean to work like it is supposed.

Cons: No cons just Jelly Bean

Cons: Cost more than most tablets....But its the KING of the hill!!! So thats not really A con....But you need to spent the extra bucks to have the Cutting Edge!!!!

Other Thoughts: 1. A Screen Protector Is A Must and a TouchScreen Stylus does a great job at makeing your life easy!

2. Will get ASUS TF700T-DOCK-GR Tablet Docking Station - Gray, BECAUSE it adds 4.5 Hours for a total of 14 Hours of battery life....Plus 1 USB Port and a SD Card Reader

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I use this tablet for everything, from watching HD video, streaming music from Google's cloud, playing games and streaming my desktops. The 1.6 GHZ Tegra 3 does everything I need it to do and more, it's gaming performance is the best that I have seen on a tablet. The 1920x1200 IPS screen displays images beautifully, everything is nice and crisp and very bright, colour calibration seems to be spot on too. Developer options are nice, I have 4x MSAA forced and GPU rendering always on. Gorilla glass is a must have for me too, the tabled has fallen once already, it landed on it's face from a 4 foot drop and is perfectly fine.
The optional dock is cool.

Cons: Mine doesn't seem to run as smooth as it should and restarts randomly, not sure exactly why as this is my first android device so I'm still figuring everything out, maybe I got a dud. It's not really a big deal though.
The proprietary charging port is kind of lame, I don't mind it all that much but I would love to also have the option to charge through some form of standard USB.
It doesn't have all of the fancy motion sensors that the Nexus 10 has and is lacking NFC.
It charges through data so if you lose the charger you get the joy of trickle charging from a USB port until you buy a new one.

Other Thoughts: Even with its flaws I would pick this tablet over any of its competitors any day.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what it says

Pros: Tegra 3 CPU does a good job. I never have to worry about the battery dying it still holds a charge all day (used fir over a year now). with the dock it goes for days. If you ever want to try it ubuntu runs great on the TF700T. It is also very thin and light weight.

Cons: Volume buttons are cheap plastic and don't always respond well. My biggest complaint is that on the dock the locking tabs that hold the tablet in broke one day and now it doesn't lock but it still works well. Lastly what is up with the color its like a dark boring purple hardly grey. So you have two options depressing purple or champagne which I have yet to see in person.

Other Thoughts: Asus is quite slow to update the firmware and thast really disappointing. Within like a month of the release of Jb there were custom roms for the tf700t but asus took like a year...

5 out of 5 eggsI had to write this review.

Pros: This is my first tablet. I had never even considered a tablet due to the fact that my phone is android and my computer is a gaming beast. What's the point?

This is a beautiful piece of technology. Coupled with the docking station (a necessity) this really is a transformer, laptop and tablet. As a laptop, on the same home network, it outperforms my fiance's $1500 Sony Vaio in speed and screen resolution.

This tablet is as fluid as water and as powerful as a mid-range off the shelf pc.

Cons: Onboard speaker is not really impressive. So I put on headphones and played Amnesia, streaming it from my PC. The tablet could replicate 7.1 surround fairly well.

Other Thoughts: Simply amazing. I am excited to see what such portable computing power will bring to our day to day lives once this portability becomes mainstream.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy ASUS

Pros: Android, Screen Resolution

Cons: My biggest issues are with the non standard poorly designed power connector and ASUS's policy of sticking it to their customer. I had a problem with the pins on the power connector coming loose and the power cords not fitting well. I called ASUS, they told me I would have to pay $250 because I unlocked the software and they would not honor their warranty (obviously unlocking the software broke the power connector). Candidly, if I wanted a product that the manufacturer played games by locking open source software and creating proprietary connectors, I should have bought an Apple. At least I could have it fixed locally. I recommend you buy something else.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy from a company that is not willing to support their warranty.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear about your broken power connector. Unfortunately, since the device is unlocked, the warranty has been voided. The unit is taken in as a whole for warranty purposes and although the port has nothing to do with the unlocking, the whole warranty was forfeited when it was unlocked. There is a huge disclaimer stating this before you unlock the tablet. If it was not unlocked, we certainly would have been able to fix it for you. We are not the only company that uses a propriety connector and we do understand things like it breaking can happen. We are also not the only manufacture to lock their devices and void the warranty if it is unlocked, rooted, flashed, ect. If you have any further comments or feedback, please feel free to e-mail me at

5 out of 5 eggsLaptops are doomed....

Pros: Best laptop replacement that's come along in a long time, with apps that can emulate or match full programs like MS Office, Games, editing and more, given time Android will overrun the OS market.

Cons: Almost a laptop replacement, darn close, and we're not far away from that point. If you're not used to android yet, get busy, ... you'll need to learn it.

Other Thoughts: Hooks up to my Celestron SE telescope via Sky Safari Pro app, super awesome combo.

Pros: Dont know doesnt work.

Cons: Plugged it in to charge like directions say. NVIDIA screen came up. The tablet went black and has not powered on since. I have to RMA it through ASUS

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsSimply Incredible!

Pros: I have been in the market for my first tablet for over a year and heavily researched what was out there. I kept coming back to the Asus TF700T as it appeared to do what I needed.
I was hoping to be able to use this for display of the shots I was taking with my Nikon D7000 (also a
purchase) and have discovered I can easily do that with an eye-fi class 10 card installed in the Nikon.
I have built 6 or 7 PCs over the years, 3 for friends and the rest for myself. I used Asus boards in them all and have never had a problem with them. That's one of the main things that pushed me toward the TF700T.
The Gorilla Glass II looks to be super resistant to scratches and breakage as well.
I haven't been able to come up with anything I want to do that this tablet either can't handle right out of the box or there's an app to do it with!
I would heartily recommend this to anyone wanting a top notch tablet. It totally rocks!
If you get one, do get the keyboard. That gives you about 4 extra hours between charges with it's battery and sometimes a keyboard can be a bit handier. It also gives you a slot for USB and a full size SD card.

Cons: It was a bit pricey, but all in all, worth it. Newegg's delivery time was a bit slow for them, but in fairness, I did order it on Black Friday!

Other Thoughts: The workmanship on the tablet is really top notch, as would be expected from Asus.
The built in camera does and excellent job for a tablet, as well.
I like that I can gain full access to my pc and all the programs in it with the Transformer.
With the Android operating system the TF700T reminds me of a cross between my smartphone and my wife's laptop, except it has a few tricks her laptop can't do.
I'm sure I'll not regret buying this tablet and I don't think you will either, should you decide to take the plunge!

5 out of 5 eggsNice Tablet

Pros: Equipped, not stripped.
Fast cpu and faster graphics.
Ability to hookup a keyboard/aux battery/usb device(s)/ SD card for a fair price with external keyboard.
Light and Sturdy
Jelly Bean Android OS

Cons: Could use a mini usb port, power coming into the base not too well thought out. (again-could use that mini usb port) Stereo speakers would have been nice. Power coming in through the base assumes you are going to buy a keyboard/dock.

Other Thoughts: I let out a sigh of relief the minute I saw what my hard earned dollars had bought. It's a magnificent tablet definitely among the top 3 being made right now. Fruity fanboys will drool over this pad. Almost everything is perfect including the finish. I don't regret a thing about this purchase and I will have it for quite awhile. Buy a keyboard on that famous auction site if they are out of them here. It's worth it's weight in gold.
