2 out of 5 eggsToo Much 4 Too Little

Pros: Nice screen, Not too heavy.

Cons: Cost!!! I got another i7 A--s for half as much. Power plug is loose, touchpad is a bit flakey.

Other Thoughts: This is my second Lenovo, both had problems.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat purchase

Pros: i7
Graphic switch
touch key
USB 3.0

Cons: Fan got a bit noisy when gaming

Other Thoughts: Have been using it for about 3+ months from now, it is a great purchase at this price. I do some of the 3D editing and rendering some 3D image and video, it is way better than my old Atom laptop and much faster, I can say it more than 10x faster (thanks to i7). Gaming is great too, I tried crysis 2 in ultra setting, although there was some little laggy but in all very high setting it is playable enough for me as a normal gamer. Touch key is a great feature for me because it is a short cut of have to press fn key on other laptop. It is lighter than I expected and compare with some other laptop in some store.

I would recommend for someone who seeking for a normal gaming, fast working laptop at low price. I haven't use the speaker that much but it is good enough when you are not plugging in any external one.

4 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: Fast CPU and Graphics option for the low price. Nice mousepad.

Cons: Cooling issues (some say there is no GPU fan). This has not seemed to cause me much issues other than BF3, slow HD (5400rpm). USB connections in front section can get in way of external mouse use...but this isnt a show stopper.

Other Thoughts: When i got was $150 cheaper on Newegg than ANYWHERE cant complain much. But Lenovo is working the cooling issues I read. Cannnot beat the combo for a laptop for CPU/GPU for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Gaming laptop

Pros: Nvidia GT 555M
Core i7
6gb ram
Switchable graphics
Great for gaming
Thermal management "button"

Cons: Bloatware
The "AccuType" keyboard was something I was not expecting. Somewhat noisy depending on the location you are at and how much you need to type.
Fan gets somewhat noisy when playing games, but not noticeable when playing in areas with constant noise.

Randomly stopped responding on me when I first got it while installing, probably due to the slow hdd speed.
The 0 on the keypad is too small, I always press the right arrow key instead of the 0 key as I think it is a regular keyboard.

The trackpad, oh man the trackpad.... its just like the other reviews said. Sometimes it works properly, other times it just assumes you're holding down 2 fingers on the trackpad so it zooms in on everything, which is annoying. Probably due to the textured trackpad.

The Graphical Interface when you push the volume, screen brightness, one-touch theatre, and thermal management buttons sometimes minimizes some applications if it is running in full-screen.

Other Thoughts: Could be more efficient with the fan in the laptop while playing games or anything that would need to increase the temperature of the laptop to make the fan run quieter.

This was significantly better than what I had originally bought as it can do everything else that I wanted that the other could not.
Mostly bought this for gaming and for Battlefield 3 when it gets released as it seems like it would run it pretty fine on average settings.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: - No stutter
- Handles anything I've thrown at it very well
- Plays TF2, Rift, and League of Legends on max settings, and hopefully *fingers crossed* will handle Skyrim on max or high settings
- The buttons above the keyboard (volume, video/sound settings, and fan speed) are very useful, especially the fan speed button.

Cons: As others have said, the 1366x768 display isn't the best, but it's not terrible either.

The HDD is a tad slow when loading games, but it's nothing too bad.

This thing does get pretty hot when gaming (70-75 C), so a laptop cooler is definitely recommended.

Other Thoughts: I've had it for a month and am very happy with it. It arrived with a small dent in the corner that hasn't interfered with anything, but is a tad ugly. It was probably UPS...

Some of the included software is useful, but most is just annoying. If you plan on using the OneKey backup software, DO NOT MESS WITH THE PARTITIONS! Even resizing them messes with the software. It ticked me off that I couldn't set my own partitions with the software, and I ended up having to restore to the factory default and reset the disk to its original partitions because of my tinkering. It's a minor issue, but still annoying.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good for the price

Pros: i7 2630QM
6gig dd3 ram
nvidia gt 555m w/optimus
full sized keyboard
good speakers for a laptop
$800 pricetag

Cons: 5400rpm drive
1366x768 on 15.6" (14" with a 1920x1080 would be nice... but the cheapest such laptop I've seen with otherwise comparable specs was over $1.2k)

Other Thoughts: Out of what I saw this was probably the best for the price as a desktop replacement (everything else below $1k was generally worse in terms of power)

The description specifies a 48Wh battery but the one I received was 62Wh. I don't know if the specs are just inaccurate or newegg messed up and sent me the wrong battery... (everything else seems correct)

battery runs for up to 6hrs or so if you're just reading/editing text on lowest settings

4 out of 5 eggsReally great laptop

Pros: -Really awesome design and lightweight
-EPEAT Energy Saver and Battery saver programs
-Switching between graphics is convenient and saves battery when not gaming
-Price on Newegg is a steal

Cons: -A LOT of crapware
-RIC Utility makes songs skip (common problem among Ideapad models)
-The gloss finish makes it a magnet for dust
-Screen does not support 1080p resolution, but it isn't noticeable

Other Thoughts: This laptop is a serious step up from my 2009 Toshiba Satellite A665. It's GeForce 555M rips through any game I put up on it and it's i7 processor can handle a ton of work. Simply put, this laptop is a monster, in a good way. Once you clear out the useless programs and turn on that GPU to power and performance, this thing really shines. It isn't that bad on the wallet either for a laptop of this caliber. It doesn't come with 8GB RAM or one of the higher level graphics cards but it still manages to DO WORK.

P.S Get rid of RIC asap! It tends to skip songs and make enjoying media a hassle.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: This laptop is amazing, I bought it for gaming and school but mostly for gamin, when I play starcraft 2 I play on high settings and get over 80 frames, and never lag. Also the feature to switch on and off for a dedicated graphics card is nice as well.
The speakers are really nice, and this is the loudest laptop i've used.

Cons: The battery life is extremely short.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good for the Price

Pros: Very powerful and fast.

Plays games very well on high settings with the graphics card switched on. I mean most modern games on high settings. May have an issue with games on high settings that are coming out in the future. Really a small amount of bloatware compared to other new laptops. Lenovo is getting better and better.

Its true, its the best price for the power it provides. There's nothing else comparable on newegg. Take a look as of 10/5/2011.

Cons: Screen is low quality. I'm not sure why. Can't lie about it. Although its not as good as other laptops screens, it shouldn't deter you from purchasing this laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: 2nd Gen i7 with Optimus
Nvidia 555m (96 cores)
6Gb ram (2 ddr3 slots - a 4Gb and 2Gb stick)
USB3.0 AND eSata :)
Full sized keyboard
Mousepad is responsive and easy to use

Approximately 4 hours battery life while playing with word, pdfs, and circuit design programs on the setting "Super Energy Saver"

Disassembly is easy - there is a panel with a bunch of screws to remove and then you can get at all the components immediately

Cons: Only 4Gb of the ram are running in dual channel
For some reason they placed the hard drive next to the audio out ports - this causes EMI which forces you to use the higher impedance Line Out over the lower impedance headphone port

Other Thoughts: The 555m is integrated into the motherboard. So if it goes bad shortly after the warranty, replacing it will not be an option unless you know how to solder really well

This is a good option for those that don't feel it's worth it to shell out more money for more pixels on the screen.

When I opened it up, I found there is one giant heatsink used for the CPU (and HD3000), NB, and Nvidia GPU; although the Nvidia GPU has its own heatpipe.

PSU is a reasonable size and connects firmly into the laptop. It's rate at 19.5v, 6.15A, approximately 120watts output. So I'm not sure how much power that leaves for usb devices when the computer is under full power load.

I recommend buying a portable surge protector if you plan on plugging this in somewhere like a school library. My last laptop was hit by a lightning surge, unprotected.
