4 out of 5 eggsA good computer, but...

Pros: A good gaming PC for your dollar, with some good sound and a nice look to it.

Cons: Has a little fuzz to it, and the specifics of the computers vary.

Other Thoughts: There are 2 versions that come with nvidia graphics cards (that are not very powerful but can run certain games decently, such as Diablo and WoW) but a little ordeal happened with my brothers computer. His came with a 630M, which was not on Lenovo's product list and made me wonder what happened.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price!

Pros: -Hardware-switchable graphics are a plus.
-Core i5 handles everything I can throw at it and more. The 6GB of RAM also attribute to this.
-Great battery life, somewhere between 2 and 4 hours on average under load.
-Extremely durable; I can throw it around a little and it stays intact. Lenovo quality!
-Great sized keyboard. The right-hand number pad is awesome and well-used. Happy with the volume buttons.
-Screen looks good at all viewing angles.
-Sound is excellent, better than on most other laptops I've had.

Cons: -CD drive is a little touchy. Sometimes it feels like I can just touch the button and it will open.
-Required a BIOS update before I could put an OS other than Windows on it, causing hours of frustration. Can't really knock an egg off for that though.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'm extremely happy with this machine. It does everything that I want it to and can handle everything that I throw at it.

One note, though; If you're going to (or think you ever might) try to use Lenovo One-Key Recovery (or the recovery disks), DO NOT MODIFY THE PARTITION SCHEME. Or, write down the exact number of MB each partition is before you start. I made this mistake, and as a result I can never truly reset this computer to factory-specs (at least not until I can figure out these numbers myself).

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Amazing laptop, Has been handling all games I've thrown at it.
The keyboard is very nice, and a full numpad is much appreciated

Cons: A very minor complaint, the CD tray eject button is very sensitive, not worth taking an egg off

Other Thoughts: I love this laptop, it's proven very useful for me

3 out of 5 eggsMotherboard died after 1 month

Pros: It's about what I expected as a machine and capability.

Cons: The motherboard died, no power up whatsoever after 1 month while I was traveling. I called tech support which initiated the repair order. I mailed it to Texas for repair and got it back about a month later (very little communication in between).

Case color is not 'gunmetal grey'. It's got a pink tint to it. Good thing I'm not in the military.

Hangs on boot-up with anything plugged into the HDMI port. Makes using any kind of docking station useless if I have to unplug it every time I reboot.

Other Thoughts: I have yet to test the VPU switch on the front of the machine since the last time I hit that switch was when the power died. I see no benefit to switching the VPU anyway.

It's too bad this machine isn't offered by newegg anymore, since that means anything I've written here isn't likely to be read by anyone.

4 out of 5 eggsReally happy with this.

Pros: - Light and solid widescreen.

- Enjoying the keyboard. I'm a developer and didn't want spongy keys. These feel great, solid, take very light pressure, and spring back satisfyingly, for those who type a lot. Keys are slightly separated enough that I don't find myself miskeying. Like a thin ThinkPad.

- Stays cool. Even when games warm up the Nvidia chip and I'm pushing it, it doesn't get uncomfortable on the lap.

- The stock Windows 7 was just fine for my needs, and hasn't annoyed me as much as I thought it would.

- Surprisingly, speakers sound really nice - but don't take much bass, of course.

- Haven't really tested how many hours I can go on a full charge, but it seems to be in the 3-4 hours range, working with a full load of apps (text editors, IDEs, Photoshop, browsers, mail app, etc.).

- Games run fine on it - the Nvidia chip kicks in when needed, and have gotten pretty smooth performance at medium settings for most games.

Cons: - Easy for your thumbs or palms to slide into the trackpad when your hands at the home keys. Probably a common problem on laptops, and still training myself to elevate a bit.

- Angle viewing leaves a little to be desired. Side to side is passable, but the vertical has to be dead-on. Lots of gamma and color shifting if screen isn't angled perfectly towards my eyes. Again, might be a common laptop issue.

- Video on Hulu and Netflix doesn't have the best FPS, when trying to stream on HD. But it's passable.

Otherwise, seriously, nothing to complain about.

Other Thoughts: This is my first laptop ever, unbelievably - and I work in tech - but I did a bunch of research first, and picked this on NewEgg without ever touching one. Did spend a lot of time at stores and other places, trying to find one that was comfortable typing on, etc, and they all bothered me one way or another.

Love it. Spending more time on it than my desktop now.

1 out of 5 eggsQuestionable piece of hardware

Pros: No idea

Cons: Dead on Arrival. After research, apparently this is very common with these computers. My favorite part is that suctomer support told me that can sometimes be fixed by removing the power cable and battery, pushing the power button 10 times, then holding down for 30 seconds on the 11th push. To quote "There can be a buildup of static on the motherboard during shipping. Doing this can help discharge the static".

No matter how you take it, that is a terrible, terrible thing.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Dedicated graphics, 6 GB memory, keyboard and touch pad.

Cons: Haven't found one yet.

Other Thoughts: Keyboard has a nice "feel" for me. I also like the texture of the touch pad and the sensitivity of it. Until this lap top I used a mouse all the time because I didn't like the touch pads or found them cumbersome. Face recognition is quick and the LED display is crisp. Not too much bloatware. Speakers are so much better than my previous laptop (ASUS). Think I got a good bang for the buck with this. Newegg is our vendor of choice for all computer products in our family.

5 out of 5 eggsMore than happy!!

Pros: - This thing smokes, lightning fast! It doesn't have any issue with anything.
- I was a little worried about the GPU running Civ V, but it runs it on moderately high settings without any issues.
- Brilliant display!
- Lightweight!
- Very LITTLE bloatware. Love that Chrome was pre-installed.
- You WILL NOT find a better laptop for $629.

Cons: - I have 1 dead pixel in the middle of the screen, but doesn't effect us enough to RMA.
- Sometimes, my left hand's palm accidently rests on the mouse pad and the screen ends up zooming, and I don't have huge hands.
- Slightly purple, which is the color of my Alma Mater's rival (GO COUGS!)

Other Thoughts: I love this thing and couldn't be happier. The battery is awesome, it's lightweight and brilliant. I love the number keypad that is built in. The Delete key is above the backspace, which is going to take some time to get used to. The Win Exp Index is 4.5, however that's with it recognizing the integrated graphics rather than the dedicated GX 520M. Take this out and we have a 5.9 based on the HDD, and 6.5 based on gamin graphics. What a wonderful little machine.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Laptop

Pros: My Secret Santa sent this to me from Newegg as a gift.
I can say this is a very good Laptop and being a gift made it more good. It is fast and works very good. I give it 6 eggs. :)

Cons: None for now.

Other Thoughts: This was a very good gift to get. Due to this was a gift I did try not to look at the cost of it. I just come to do a review but I seen the cost and I can say This is the laptop you need if you need a good one for under $700

Thanks Secret Santa

5 out of 5 eggsgreat computer

Pros: Great feature set at the price, quick speeds, limited bloatware, start up from box, wireless connectivity, and aesthetically pleasing.

Cons: No bluetooth, no USB 3.0

Other Thoughts: So far so good, no issues at all. I get around 5 hours on the battery, which is nice. It does have a slight purplish tint to it, which could be an issue for some.
