4 out of 5 eggsyou know...

Pros: I am happy with the sensitivity of the touch pad.

Cons: You know... I assumed that buying a business computer, with Win 7 Pro would mean that I would have Office. Apparently not. Comes loaded with "limited features starter of Word and Excel." [This includes advertisements on the screen and a 2.5" side bar that wont go away.] Maybe I should have known the price was too good to be true, but as someone starting a small business, I thought I was buying a business computer and never fathomed that it would not come with Office, and that I would have to squeeze that purchase, unexpectedly into my start up budget.

Other Thoughts: I am decidedly annoyed. I wish that there was something on the main product description page that alerted a person to what other programs the computer does or doesn't have- other than the version of Windows.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lightweight, feels durable. Fingerprint scanner works great. A good light work computer. Dropped an 8GB g.skill kit in it the same day.

Cons: Intel HD Graphics are horrible, but I knew that so I won't remove an egg.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: I wanted the i5 for the Turbo Boost. I wanted the win7 Premium for the XP virtual machine but after reading about it I'm just going to install Virtual Box for XP and Linux. I like the keyboard. There is space around the keys. Pressing F1-F12 initiates special functions printed on each key. This can be changed back to traditional, temporarily or permanently. I like the touch pad. I especially like the pinch-zoom. It's touchy but very useful. I like the matte screen. The screen size took a little getting used to. It is 16:9. The 34mm Express Card slot will come in handy for expansion if I ever need it, like USB 3. I like the 7200 rpm HDD. The AC adapter stays cool unlike my previous HP (dv6000) that got so hot I thought it was going to melt.

Cons: None so far. Minor (until you wish you had it) - No keyboard light.

Other Thoughts: These comments are 'first impression' as I have only had this a few weeks. I was looking for solid build quality as the two other laptops I have owned (Dell and HP) fell apart after three years. I have read three years is about average for a laptop. Mine never travel, just sit on a table. Unlike the HP and Dell even after it's been on for several hours I don't feel any heat radiating off it. On Lenovo's site the Edge models are listed as meeting 'military specs' whatever that means. I don't think it's bullet proof. First thing I did was buy another 4G of RAM. Find the detailed spec sheet pdf and user manual on Lenovo's site. They show an extra mini PCIe slot under the back cover that will accept an 80 gig mini solid state HDD. This is very exciting but the boss won't let me. Yet. The external SATA will go nicely with my external drive for backups. As usual Newegg's service is a step above the others. I really appreciate that they put the laptop box into another box.
