4 out of 5 eggsLenovo G580

Pros: Very good laptop for gerneral use (internet, email, word processing..)
Keyboard is wonderful
Decent battery life usually lasts me all day.
Clean screen

Cons: Track pad is very touchy at first, i had to download the Elan driver to fix, but since that it has been usable.

Other Thoughts: Make sure to get the trackpad driver or use a mouse

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's runs smooth. It even plays games better than my last laptop that I paid more than double the price for. Civ 5 and Sims 3 can be slightly slow but by and large run completely fine. It runs very smoothly, and being slow is only somewhat noticeable when playing games. Also a great price.

Cons: That trackpad. It's awful. It only works at specific angles. It will often jump around when trying to click a smaller button. To be fair I do use it, and only put the mouse on for game, but that is only because I am usually sitting on my bed, not a desk. It is a constant frusteration

3 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: It's cheap. It works fairly well for paper pushing and internet browsing. Resolution is fair. The keyboard is responsive and easy to type with. It is very quiet and doesn't feel too heavy in a backpack.

Cons: First off, since this computer is so cheap, there are things they had to compromise. The battery is horrible. Just typing and internet browsing will wear the battery down in less than 3 hours and maybe even within 2 hours. I haven't timed it but it seems fairly short. The touchpad is pretty bad. The touchpad will stop working for 20 seconds randomly. The touchpad is also poorly made and is hard to use.
The headphone jack is wonky. Mine goes way deeper than a normal 1/8" and I have to put the headphones in just the right amount to get the whole spectrum of a song or video. Sometimes it is impossible to find the sweet spot.
The computer takes a long time to load everything. It will turn on fairly quickly but I cant use the internet or any apps for about a minute after the computer is on the tiles. But I have an SSD in my home computer so it might not seem as slow to others and I have yet to get rid of bloatware.
The wireless card is weird as well. At home, I can get 2 bars of connectivity but at my college I can get full bars. I guess it just depends on the wireless.
Also windows 8 without a touchscreen.

Other Thoughts: Overall it is a decent computer with some improvements needed. If you need a computer for around $400 I think this is your best bet but if I had more money I would get something a little more solid with better battery, better touchpad and better WLAN card.

1 out of 5 eggsMaybe a Manufacturers Defect, but Newegg support wasn't very helpful

Pros: Very great budget laptop with the power and speed to complete daily tasks.

Cons: The keyboard feels cheap, but then again you get what you pay for. The main problem for me is that the VGA port on the computer was defective upon receiving.

My job requires me to be able to test Audio and Video equipment and since the computer lacks an HDMI port the VGA port is the only route to go. The port was placed too high so that it touched the top of the laptop casing making it impossible for a VGA cable to fit into the port.

When I asked customer support if anyone else has complained about this problem, they told me that it wasn't there problem and that I should call Lenovo Customer support to see if it was a manufacturers defect. I've been on the phone for over an hour now and am still trying to figure this problem out.

Other Thoughts: I've been ordering from newegg for a couple of years now and there products have always satisfied my needs. This is the first time I have ever contacted Newegg support and it was underwhelming in the information they can provide me.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Budget Laptop

Pros: First off, I purchased this laptop for a customer of mine whose previous HP Pavilion 6000 series bit the dust. They wanted a budget friendly laptop that they would be using mostly for business type deals (i.e Word,Powerpoint, Web browsing etc.) and nothing more. This was a perfect fit. Fast processor, simple yet elegant deisgn as well as great performance.

Cons: The touch pad on this laptop is not good at all. It is made of some some type of material that sort of feels like fine grain sandpaper. It is very rough to work with especially if your fingers are moist. The audio jack is a 2 in 1 Mic and Headphone combination, which might be an inssue with some. There is also only one RAM slot available and you can upgrade the default 4GB to a MAX of 8GB. Windows 8, hehe.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a great budget friendly laptop with great performance. A great option for those who are looking for a reliable PC that is cheaply available but NOT cheaply made. If the above Cons are not too much of a factor for you then you will be content with this purchase just as my customer was.

5 out of 5 eggsDo not listen to D9 the guy below me

Pros: D9 does not know what he is talking about, max supported memory is 8gb so do not let him mislead you

Cons: having to read the painfully false reviews from wannabe techs

4 out of 5 eggsGood product - except for the touchpad

Pros: Good price/performance - and includes turbo-boost. Only two core - but if you're mostly single process limited, then that's not an issue. Supports two external monitors nicely with no lag (but I'm not a gamer).

Cons: As others have written, the touchpad is dreadful...almost impossible to work. Large hands easily bump it. And I'd say the rest is a driver issue...but it really is awful. I use an external mouse. How this product got released like this is beyond me.

No gigabit Ethernet (only 100Mbit).
Rather heavy...definitely not a notebook.

Other Thoughts: Others have commented that it only has on DIMM socket. Mine has two..just lucky I guess. so no problem upgrading to 16GB (8GBx2).
