1 out of 5 eggsGood - Until It's Not

Pros: Relatively fast, runs most of the games I play decently (Team Fortress 2, Borderlands 2, Garry's Mod, runs Rust with minimum graphics and grass turned off)
High quality screen
Doesn't burn your lap when in use

Cons: Short battery life (must be put in power saver mode with lowest brightness to last more than 4 hours, while playing games battery may only last 2 hours)
Graphics card sometimes doesn't even register as existing until using an air duster to blow out the computer
Randomly runs into issues and has to restart, desktop icons move positions when rebooted (likely a resolution change caused by graphics card failure)
Right after booting up, random vertical lines appear and make it hard to see, they go away after about 1 minute
Screws come loose often, the back right corner starts to bend apart when opening up the laptop until the screws are tightened. I watched, not knowing how to fix the problem, as a friend's lenovo computer destroyed the motherboard because the hinge broke the power connector :(
Ethernet outright doesn't work at all. It used to, but stopped after several months.
Wi-Fi goes to "limited" connection quite often (pretty much disconnecting you, nothing works), sometimes once a minute >:( and the only solution I have found is disconnecting and reconnecting to the current Wi-Fi
Some printers refuse to work via Wi-Fi connection
Driver stopped internet from working on some connections, it had to be replaced with an older version (before the driver stopped working, I still had to disconnect and reconnect to the internet, this problem just arose when updating to windows 8.1, then I fixed it.)

Other Thoughts: I bought this laptop for gaming, and it started failing after a little while of use. My main issue is the internet problems, because when playing an online game, I have to alt+tab out of the game, disconnect from the internet, reconnect, go back to the game, and continue. By then, I'm probably dead because I've been standing still for so long. Also, for some reason it only seems to restart when I'm not looking, but when it restarts I have to start all my programs back up. If this laptop wasn't faulty for me, it would be fine, because I mainly play TF2, which it runs fine. But the internet problems... ugh.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I was a bit nervous buying a new laptop, but I'm really glad I had. It runs so much nicer compared to my Toshiba that was about two years old.
-The sound is clear and can get pretty loud compared to other laptops I've had.
-Runs a lot of games nicely, but the graphics card can get pretty warm at times. I'm able to run Fallout 3, Guild Wars 2, and Far Cry 3 with no problems.
-Fan runs very quietly (Other laptops I've had sounded like an airplane).
-Screen is very bright, quite large.
-Has very good battery life, thought I'm sure that'll diminish as time goes on.
-I at least like the metallic-y finish on it, although it's clearly plastic.
-Adapter on the charging cord stays usually stays cool.

Cons: -The touchpad isn't very sensitive. Sometimes I'd play games using wasd and touchpad, however the touchpad doesn't work when pressing any other key at the same time. No big deal though, I started using a mouse anyways.
-Windows 8 really isn't that great, but that's not the computer's fault. I downloaded several items to disable parts of Windows 8, so it's running more similar to 7 now.
-Computer also came with a lot of bloatware.
-Microphone isn't great, and it's located right under the keyboard which is kind of weird for me.
-Charging cord is a bit smaller than what I was used to.

Other Thoughts: I bought this computer once I opened up my older Toshiba and found the screen had a huge crack in the middle. I use that now mainly for back up.
It's a very nice computer for the price, and I'm very happy with my purchase!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy!

Pros: Value! The Specs on this machine are great for the price.

Cons: The case is kind of flimsy and worried me at first, but I plan on taking care of my machine and do expect any problems.

Other Thoughts: I've seen concern about Windows 8 as well as the graphics card.

On Windows 8: It's an operating system that is new so of course everyone hates it at first. It is definitely more tablet based, but there are some great features to it and I enjoy learning this new system.

On the graphics: When pulling up the diagnostics, the computer displays Intel HD 4000 as the primary but if you plug it in it uses the dedicated card. This is a good thing for battery life and don't be concerned about performance! You can choose which program you want the dedicated card to turn on for, which is nice for saving power.

I run League of Legends with Medium to High settings at an average of 150 FPS. No problems there. I haven't tried streaming yet but I do not anticipate any problems.

You will certainly enjoy this machine if you purchase it. There is just too much value in it for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsMake sure to run diagnostics...

Pros: Runs fast, great feel on keyboard, looks nice, large screen, runs cool.

Cons: a pretty good amount of bloatware, and came with an already failing hard disk evidently...and windows 8 is odd to get used to, but that's not exactly a con.

Other Thoughts: I recently suffered heart ache when my unfortunate toshiba finally died, with of course nothing backed up anywhere. So, I turned to NewEgg and purchased this laptop, quite excitedly. I was pumped about the dedicated graphics (which I haven't gotten the opportunity to use, thanks to being in the middle of my final semester of undergrad).

For the past two months, I have been in love. Everything about it was great.

Every so often, the lenovo diagnostics would pop up and have some annoying message, which I usually ignored. This time, I decided to run the diagnostics test, just to see, as it had been two months and it was showing that there was a "critical system error".

Sure enough, it said that my hard disk had failed not one, but three tests: targeted read test, SMART short self test, and SMART drive self test.

I did some googling, and the general consensus of the internet is that my harddrive is most certainly going to fail in the future. I've only had it for two months, and have been using it for relatively mundane purposes. Hardly anything has been downloaded.

I still rated it four stars because I loved everything else about it, and I really didn't notice anything out of the ordinary until I ran the diagnostics.

I will try Lenovo support, as it does have a year warranty, and we will see where that gets me.

Quite sad. :( I hate mailing things...

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Full keyboard, large screen, and dedicated graphics

Cons: The touchpad is awkwardly offset to the left, but the biggest issue with it is that if you touch the pad too far right and want to slide left then you will bring up the Windows 8 charms screen. This is really annoying and happens frequently. I had this laptop for 1 week and already had it shut down twice because of BSOD issues. And finally, for some reason I keep losing my internet connection. I have to hit disconnect, then reconnect. I have another laptop and desktop with a wireless card and have not had any issue with them. I tried to get a refund on this but Newegg doesn't offer one so I am trying for a replacement.

3 out of 5 eggsSpecs don't reflect the experience

Pros: Across the board great specs

Cons: This chassis LOVES fingerprints and smudges. Want to display your unique identifier to all your friends? Get this laptop! The monitor feels flimsy and flexes with little pressure.

3 out of 5 eggsWhy!!!!!!!

Pros: Great price point for a laptop with dedicated GPU card. Nice look to the overall package and it played games well.

Cons: switching from Ethernet to Wi-Fi has been problematic first it couldn't recognize wireless connection. I called their tech line in India i'm assuming. uninstalled drivers and reinstalled. All was well until I went from wi-fi to ethernet now it doesn't recognize an ethernet connection, called support again. Conclusion It is a hardware issue. Now I have to pay to ship something I have used for 5 days to a repair depot where Lenovo is not responsible for any damages that may occur.
Also disappointing you don't get a hard copy of win8 or a key.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: The Graphics can handle alot. the system it self is great. I have a lenovo y500 i ordered and paid more for. and this was for my wife. she loves it.

Cons: The Keyboard is still something to get used too. as well as win 8

Other Thoughts: I had no doubts that would like the device.. but even though there is a learning curve with win 8 and the keyboard is different this is still worth the price.. dont let the cons get in the way of the purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsG780 review

Pros: -Very fast
-Nvidia GPU
-Very bright screen

Overall this laptop is very good. It is good for everything from internet browsing to PC gaming. The Nvidia chipset doesn't run all the time, at least according to my observations, and instead it uses an intel GMA4000 for desktop applications. This may help the battery life which is quite good.

Cons: There are only a few bad things I can find about this laptop. The first thing is that it has windows 8, and if you are not used to it the operating system is horrible. Things are close to 7, but different in baffling ways.
The second problem with this computer is the touchpad. Windows 8 is trying to do too much with it. If you slide in from the right side of the trackpad this annoying search thing pops up. Other things happen if you track in from other sides. It also seems to hang every once in a while and not accept input till you take your finger off and try to move again.

The final, and most disappointing thing that is bad about the laptop is the fact that there is a dead pixel. It is only 1, but it is right in the middle of the screen. Lenovos policy states that there have to be three dead pixels to warrant a replacement.

Other Thoughts: I recommend this laptop for anyone. Its got enough power that it will be a good lasting investment.
