5 out of 5 eggsPowerful machine.

Pros: - Fast 4th gen CPU
- Dual GeForce 750m GPU's (SLI)
- Beautiful Full HD Anti-glare (Matte) screen
- Speakers are very loud and the sound quality is excellent
- Comfortable back-lit keyboard
- Easy hardware access (replacing HDD/RAM takes 5 minutes)

Cons: - Low battery life ( Obviously it consumes a lot of power with this powerful hardware)
- Build quality could be better but considering the price and the specs I can't complain

Other Thoughts: I have upgraded from the 5400 rpm 1tb HDD to a Samsung 840 Pro SSD to maximize performance,I have also installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
This laptop can run almost any game on Ultra high settings in Full HD resolution.

1 out of 5 eggsWas not as great as reviews said.

Pros: The laptop looks great and feels great and light impressive specs for a laptop.

Cons: Windows 8
My driver kept crashing everyday sometimes 2-5 times a day. Had to system restore to factory settings worked great for about 2 days then again driver kept crashing. So i Google what could be causing problem seem like not only me but many ppl had problems with lenovos crashing and freezing. I was upset but kept looking for solution. Found none just diff methods to try see if it would fix the issues but none worked. I couldn't return it right away bc I use it for school and work. So my experience with Lenovo is bad maybe I was the one who got a defective laptop but for me never buying lenovo again. Worst laptop I have had now im hoping to get my money back from new egg.

Other Thoughts: It worked great for awhile but to many crashes and freezing also on start up it would freeze and the disc usage would be at 100% All i can say is lenovo caused way to many problems for me. Windows 8 didn't help. My thoughts and suggestions get a different laptop save ur time and stay away from lenovo. But that is just me. Hope my reviews helps you guys out.
Also for any programing or gaming that you do on this laptop you need to have the power adaptor in at all times or it would chop up the games or programs.

5 out of 5 eggsOverall win

Pros: Quick Implementation of new Haswell Chips
Solid Construction
Speaker Fidelity (for a laptop, be reasonable)
Screen Quality
badace red backlit keyboard

Cons: Battery Life, Num Lock button, sharp front edge, strange partitioning

Other Thoughts: This is a great machine at a really solid price, the ultrabay and general construction also offers a really high level of fixability and customization options compared to other laptops out there. The construction is great, really solid great brushed metal finish, cool lighting, great machine spec and for the visual visceral satisfaction it offers.

On the downside - and these are really preference based but still, that front edge is sharp, I used it on the train, on battery for 3+ hours without really noticing, but it sort of feels like it would be an issue. Top bezel, why so huge? weird, but by no means a deal breaker.

Now - the drive thing, I actually really appreciate the one touch bios/recovery option, its great for those of us who actually WANT access to our machines kernel innerds, however the way they have the partitions set up I'm sure makes some sense, but they're not very clear about what those partitions are doing. I'd like to understand whats for backup, whats for caching, etc. Also why didnt it come with a physical windows install disk? weird. I'll be in touch with Lenovo tech support soon, and will update after with they're up front-ness about these things. Also you can request a windows 8 recovery with full license, so its not an issue, just an annoyance.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding lightweight Gaming Powerhouse

Pros: This laptop is outstanding. While not a FPS gamer I do enjoy RTS and adventure games like Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2. Most can play on the highest settings. I ditched the 1TB 5400rpm HDD and put in a Samsung 840 500GB SSD. It takes just under 8 seconds to boot and everything flies. I wiped and formatted the 24GB SSD that came in the system. It's some new form factor (not mSATA) and had some proprietary format so I have no idea what was on it. Doesn't matter since I already installed a blazing fast SSD. Now I have an extra 24GB SSD. The system is so much lighter and quieter than my Alienware but the fans do crank up during intense gaming sessions.

Cons: The AC Adapter is huge but I guess it has to be in order to accommodate the SLI GPUs. Windows 8 is a pain but I've adjusted. Too much bloatware but it uninstalls easily (McAfee took two reboots to fully excise).

Other Thoughts: I use an external keyboard and mouse so I have no idea whether the the issues people had with the Y500 trackpad are fixed here. I only use this for playing games so I never use it on battery but w/o battery there is no way to run the GPUs at a decent clock and I think one is disabled so gaming really doesn't seem possible on battery. Note: probably shows discontinued because after the initial run Lenovo switched to the lower voltage Intel 4702QM CPU which clocks in at 2.2 b4 boost vs the 2.4 of the 4700QM that was included with this model. I'd keep an eye out for that model sometime in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome piece of harware

Pros: 4th gen Haswell CPU.
Dual GT 750M's in SLI
Plenty of RAM
Nice screen
Backlit keybord
Good speakers
Amazing price for the hardware

Cons: The track pack could be a little better but it's not the end of the world
5400RPM HDD, would have liked it better if it was 7200RPM, but it's not to huge a deal
Not being available with Windows 7, again not huge, I've already gotten used to Windows 8.

Other Thoughts: Much to my surprise, I discovered that it came with a 24GB SSD instead of the advertised 8GB. I am definitely not complaining about that.

5 out of 5 eggsLots of Bang for your buck

Pros: Screen is Matte 1080P and fantastic

Backlit keyboard is a nice touch

very well engineered body/chassis. i wanted something that wasn't the same wedge chassis they have been recycling for the last years

it IS for a FACT running GDDR5 (just ran GPU-Z to be sure)
1TB 5400RM with 24GB SSD hybrid

is several hundred dollars less than anything with comparable features

Can dun Diablo 3 maxed out at about 40-50 FPS, can run Borderlands 2 with medium textures, ambient occlusion off, physx on medium at a solid 60FPS try doing that with ANY laptop in this price range with a 1080P screen

Also, Remarkably good sound out of the onboard speakers, bear in mind, im not an audiophile, so what i think sounds good, might not get such a warm reception from someone else

Cons: as others have said, the front edge is a bit sharp, but i also wanted a laptop that didn't look like a wedge, so thats sort of a hazard to the design

it gets hot in a hurry, an hour or so of diablo 3 or borderlands 2 will get the chips up to about 60ºC which then focuses that heat in the top left corner of the keyboard (around the "1-2-Q" area) the heat dissipates very quickly as well, within in 10 minutes you wouldn't know you were gaming

the battery life is abysmal, its physically tiny for a fairly large and powerful Machine,, don't expect more than 4 hours of light use

Has graphics card driver issues- Currently on nvidia's site, there are NO available drivers for any 700m card, its running 311.41 drivers, which are good, but i know some of my games would run much better with optimised drivers, even the "Geforce experience" cant locate drivers. so if you were to decide to install a different OS, you're stuck with no drivers, and the cooked ones online don't really work either. i'm sure this will be corrected in the future, but at the time of this writing, these are the facts

SSD drive doesn't appear to be used, not even for smartcaching.. so i'm not sure what its doing, but i don't want to wipe it out, because there are like 5 partitions on this drive, and it could have something important on it

also, the BIOS seems to be locked out. so, good luck installing a new OS

uni-bottom construction, makes for a clean line, but means you have to undo whole bottom of laptop to change hard drive

Other Thoughts: Touchpad is neither a pro or a con, it works, but i feel like i'm sticking my finger halfway through my laptop to click on something

Bezel around the screen seems bit fat on top, think it would be more aesthetically pleasing, if the bezel ws uniform

5 out of 5 eggs24GB SSD

Pros: I have not opened the box since it is a graduation gift for my son, but I wanted anyone else reading these reviews to know that the box indicates it has a 24GB SSD and not the 8GB NewEgg has specified.

Cons: None yet since it will not be opened until the end of next week .

Other Thoughts: It was shipped fast

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Gaming Computer

Pros: The display is excellent. I do not recall it advertising a matte screen but I can sit with the sun shining into the window at my back and still see the screen clearly.

The keyboard layout is great. The shift keys and backspace key are smaller than normal, but I got used to that after a couple of hours of using it. They did an excellent job at properly fitting a full keyboard with a number pad on such a small area. I can type very well with it.

I bought this primarily to play games and it has been able to run everything that I have thrown at it flawlessly. For the first time in my life, I have been able to run programs on high quality and not have worry about it skipping around or freezing the entire time.

The speakers are incredible. They are crystal clear and they are LOUD.

I also like that they give me a slot to put whatever I feel I need in it. I intend to put a larger SSD drive in it at a later time. You can also get another HHD, fan, GPU, or CD drive if you choose to.

Cons: The webcam isn't the great, but it is no worse than any of the other webcams that you find built into the laptop.

The edge at the front of the computer is slightly bothersome, due to how sharp of a corner it is.

The power adapter is huge. I estimate is to be about 7 x 3 x 2.

There is no indication on whether caps, scroll, or number locks are on. This is slightly annoying but certainly workable.

When researching what computer I wanted, I saw that this computer had GDDR3 ram instead of GDDR5. I read that GDDR5 was considerably faster than GDDR3, but I have not noticed anything wrong with using GDDR3 so far.

Other Thoughts: This laptop is an excellent value considering what you get for the price you pay. If you are looking for an affordable gaming laptop, this is perfect for you. None of the cons are deal breakers, just things you need to know about when ordering. I believe anyone who orders this laptop will be extremely satisfied.

2 out of 5 eggsScreen coming apart...

Pros: Great looking machine.
Very fast.

Incredibly fast shipping!

Cons: The machine arrived to me with the screen coming apart at the top. I tried to snap it back together a couple of times, but every time I close the screen down, it pops apart.

I love it when I get a defective product...

Other Thoughts: Review subject to change once I get a replacement machine.
