1 out of 5 eggsStay away, 80% failure rate.

Pros: If you get a functioning product it works as advertised, but... (see Cons)

Cons: Out of 5 laptops ordered, 4 of them have fan issues where they won't boot. You can get around this by replacing the fan, but totally uncool for MetroPC Systems to be shipping these out without fan replacements especially where Lenovo has issued a bulletin to dealers about this on 06/30/11 about this particular issued effecting the T410s.

Other Thoughts: While I like this particular brand and model of laptop, I don't recommend purchasing.

4 out of 5 eggsNo complaints

Pros: Solid design, great keyboard, matte display, ssd, machine in good condition

Cons: lower resolution display than most of today's laptops

Other Thoughts: I had read several reviews of this machine online, and was a little bit nervous about the number of people who said that they received a machine that was in terrible shape. The machine that I received was in the shape that one could expect. There were hardly any physical blemishes on the machine, there were little specks inside the right speaker grill but I'm sure I'll get them out at some point, there is also a little plastic piece missing that covers the screws to remove the display. On the lid, there are two squares of adhesive from stickers that were on the machine from the past owner. The system also came with absolutely no additional software installed. There was no Lenovo software installed either. Also worth noting that this machine has integrated graphics, this is not the t410 with NVIDIA graphics.

The bottom line: This machine contains all of the specs that were referenced on the product page and is in good condition. I am satisfied with my purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsNOW AS ADVERTISED

Pros: I write this to make up for my previous review (as promised). It was, after returning the first unit, just as advertised.

Cons: The little Thinkpad sticker was missing from the keyboard area and the keys were a little shiny. Plus maybe a couple minor nicks on the casing.

Otherwise wonderful.

Other Thoughts: My lady needed a new laptop for school, and this really foot the bill (and budget). I don't know, for sure, how she feels about it, but I'm absolutely in love.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid at all costs

Pros: 1.The listed specs are nice, even though I never had the chance to experience them.
2. Some of the separate parts of the computer would make excellent scrap parts for use in other machines.
3. The computer would hold down papers very effectively if placed on top of them.

Cons: The first machine I received from this company had several gouges in the screen, a keyboard whose keys would stick down for 5 seconds or more when pressed, and would not actually boot to windows. I returned it to them, and 2 weeks later got back another machine with no power cord. After calling them 15 times until I could get a person instead of a machine, they send a power cord. When I could finally plug this machine in, it started sluggishly before greeting me with a fatal hard drive error, rendering the computer unusable. Attempting to return this total failure and get my money back, but the IRON EGG GUARANTEE isn't really any kind of actual guarantee, it has no actual meaning, as the product only has a return for replacement option. Which isn't really an option if it leaves you without a working machine over one month after the first dud arrived.

Other Thoughts: Metro Business Systems doesn't even run a basic level of diagnostics on their machines before sending them out, which can lead to a herculean headache when all you want is a computer that works.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: Great condition
No Bloatware
SSD is fast
Keyboard is comfortable and responsive for a laptop
Great mouse pad
I prefer Win 7 to Win 8
easy set up
very fast delivery (2 Days)

Cons: No Bluetooth
No HDMI port
No auto (DC) power supply

Other Thoughts: I have had this machine for a month and I have ordered 8GB of ram to upgrade from the installed 4GB. I am also looking into what cards are available for installation in the Mini PCI Express slot (HDMI port, additional SSD, Bluetooth, etc). This looks like it may become one of my favorite travelling machines.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat buy after the initial problems were worked through

Pros: Great laptop once I got it fixed. Metropc was GREAT at getting me a replacement. I called them up, spoke with a gentleman, and received the parts next day (UPS 1-day delivery window).

Parts received: keyboard and battery (6 cell with 4-6 hours of charge!)

Cons: I received the laptop on in the box. It would not shut down using the power button. Afterword, it wouldn't turn on. I noticed the microphone mute button would light when I tried pressing the power button.

I noticed the yellow DC power plug was loose in the case, so I took to fully disassembled and clean the machine using Lenovo's instructions on their website, as these are very serviceable machines. After an extensive cleaning using a tooth brush on the fan, ports, and vents, I reassembled the machine. Still no dice.

I used the following procedure to boot the machine successfully:
1) unplug CMOS battery (this was to alleviate the ESD issue on my machine, it may not be required if you experience a similar issue)
2) remove battery
3) unplug AC adapter
4) press and hold power button for several seconds
5) plug in AC adapter
6) press power button
7) optionally, replace battery

Upon booting into Windows, I noticed my keyboard space bar, 'n', and various other keys would not work. In addition, I found the supplied battery was worthless (it lasted 5 minutes on a full charge).

It was fairly obvious that this machine was wiped and ghosted with a copy of the Windows 7 for Refurbished Computers, then sealed in a box.

I used the included paperwork contact information for the refurbisher. After my second attempt calling them (voicemail on the first), I got a helpful rep that simply asked for my address and what parts I required; I did not need to email them the invoice either!

Other Thoughts: 1 egg removed for a "used" versus refurbished laptop.

2 out of 5 eggsFan Error

Pros: Boots quick. No bloatware. Installed MS Office 2013 no problem, but...

it didn't last long enough to fully explore features.

Cons: 4 days after receiving the ThinkPad it began showing a "Fan Error" during boot up and would shut back down immediately. Hasn't started up since.

Just talked to NewEgg and I will be sending it back for a replacement. The unfortunate part is that the computer lived just long enough to eat my 1 product key for Microsoft Office. Now I get to have a conversation with them about transferring Office to my new laptop when it arrives. Joy!

1 out of 5 eggsUsed laptop

Pros: Good laptop. Fast bootup. Decent speakers. Decent resolution. DVDRW included. Came in relatively good condition, but...

Cons: No HDMI output. This is clearly a "used" laptop that had no refurbishment done to it whatsoever. The case and keyboard show signs of wear and have never been replaced. The laptop just came in a brown box with the WRONG charger. The OS didn't even work. No software came with it. Luckily I was able to restore it from the boot partition. You're out of luck if you don't know how to do this.

Other Thoughts: There is a BIG difference between refurbished and used. This item was clearly used and I returned it. I'm not sure if I'll buy another "refurbished" product from this seller again. It looks like they just take a used laptop, put it in a brown box and ship it without even wiping down. At least the customer service is good after being on hold for 10 minutes and they do what it takes to make it right.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat bang for buck

Pros: Looks and works New- If I didn't know it was refurbished I would have thought it was new

Really fast- I took it out of the box and plugged it in. Windows loaded without a hitch. Inserted product key and it was good to go.

No Bloatware- I hate unnecessary software. This came with none of that.

Audio Video- Reviews knocked it but with that in mind the audio was decent and video good.

Mouse design- I usually don't like laptop mouses but this one was great. It has a nice texture that doesn't leave fingerprints and allows your finger to glide on it without resistance

Cons: I looked at many reviews and cons that they listed I was expecting however I was pleasantly surprised and they were not issues. One mentioned the fan is loud. This laptop has been very quiet for me.

Other Thoughts: If you need higher volume than it can produce I recommend Breakaway audio enhancer. Its free to install and after 30 days you can pay for it continue to use it free but every 30 minutes it bypasses it and you have to press a button to turn it back on and then it has a small popup thanking you for using it and asking you to please buy it. I use this at work since the HP units have low audio.

1 out of 5 eggsByer beware!!!!

Pros: The laptop's cosmetics appeared to be in shape. It didn't smell.

Cons: Out of the box, the laptop would not post. I thought the battery could be dead. I let the battery charge for 2 hours and tried again. Nothing!! No mb error beeps, no video, and no lights. I would like to think that nobody would knowingly sell and ship a bad laptop. But it didn't even try to power up (see other thoughts).

Other Thoughts: I thought I was purchasing this laptop through Newegg? Apparently its a company called "Metropc". I called the Metropc warranty support and got an answering machine. Then tried a different extension, explained my situation to a support person. He transferred me to another support person. All I have to do is forward my invoice to them and they would respond with a shipping label and replace the laptop. I did just that. Forwarded my invoice in an email with a brief description of the problem. So far I have not herd back and still await their response. I tried calling several times today after the email and no one answered the phone.

I've been shopping at Newegg for years now. And have even purchased two refurbished laptops prior with NO problems.
