The model I received has a display resolution of 1280*800. Subjectively speaking, the display seems relatively crisp given the panel PPI and my average viewing distance (about arm's length.)

what is the battery size -6 cell, 9 cell- and what is  the batteries condition: used or new?

9-cell has 2-4 hrs life so probably used. Mine came in great condition. keys have a light shine like they have been used but other than that no hint of usage. the windows they installed had no bloatware.

A lot of the reviews seem to have problems with exterior damage and the third-party seller. 
- What is the "refurbished" status? Is it just a recycled "used' computer or has it actually been refurbished?
- Is the unit being sold through newegg or another third-party seller? The page is clear on the seller (newegg) but the reviews suggest otherwise.

My laptop came looking virtually brand new, a little shine around the edges, nothing that can't be over looked.
It has been used. The battery is presumably dying which kind of sucked.
The refurbisher is metropc but newegg is the provider of said computer.

What is the warranty on this laptop ?

They provide no warranty on the used computer.  They will exchange and that is all.If you are thinking this computer has been refurbished you will be very disappointed. It is a used computer that has been wiped off. The operating system has been reinstalled but has not been updated. After the first two days I watched about 300 plus upgades go on the computer. Now that all the upgrades have been installed the computer works fine. I like the computer but would not purchase from newegg. These guys know nothing or pretend to know nothing. I was told they just sell.
