5 out of 5 eggsVery Happy..

This review is from: LG G Pad 8.3 Tablet - Quad-Core 2GB RAM 16GB Flash 8.3" Full HD Display Android 4.2, Black (LGV500.AUSABK)

Pros: I recently obtained this tablet on a 199.99 special for a refurbished model on another seller and I have to say I am impressed for 200$.

-Snapdragon 600 (1.7Ghz). This is a snappy little thing. On par with something like an Galaxy S4 or an HTC One (M7). It's one of the top mobile CPUs today. This will be the Note 8 and the Nexus 7 (yes the 2013 refresh) in terms of overall performance.

-2GB of ram. Awesome. Multitasks like a beast, swaps between apps fast.

-11GB of Storage + microSD slot. It's worth noting that 4.4.2 bring some mSD write issues. These issues can be fixed if you are rooted and edit the platform.xml file under ect/permissions/platform.xml with any file explorer that has root support.

It's literally a single line you add under WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE.
<group gid="media_rw" /> and your SD card should work for everything.

-Awesome DPI. It's nice to see tablet makers pushing their 7/8 inch tablets past the terrible 1280x800, up a notch. This device comes in at a very health 272PPI and gives me a very crisp image. Great for watching HD videos, and text looks very clear.

Cons: -Camera(S). Both of them are pretty mediocre. I don't use my tablet camera, I assume most people don't either, but it would be nice to see some effort on this part. Even for skype I found the front facing one to be a little fuzzy.

-Bloatware. While I found some of the features like Knock-on/off and Qpair to be really handy, there was a good bit of bloatware to clear out via Titanium-Backup. I really hate that device makers pre-install this junk and it's a trend that should really stop. At the very least make it so normal users can uninstall it without rooting their device.

-Software. I'm also not a fan of LG's skin and bloated software. I'm still trying to find a rom I really like for this device, CM11 doesn't really do it for me.

-Speaker Placement. After using a HTC One for the past year, any device without front facing speakers really sucks. While I don't use the speakers that often, I feel no android device should have rear-facing speakers in this day in age.

-Battery Life. I'm not sure what I expected, but I get a subpar 6hrs while watching videos. I was hoping for something a little better, but I may just opt for a backup battery. With low brightness and all off the extras (wifi/bt) turned off, I do get a solid 9+ hours of reading though.

Other Thoughts: All-in-All, at a ~200$ price point, this is an amazing buy. But if you are buying at MSRP, there are better options out there and better things on the way.

4 out of 5 eggsLG. heading in the right direction

This review is from: LG G Pad 8.3 Tablet - Quad-Core 2GB RAM 16GB Flash 8.3" Full HD Display Android 4.2, Black (LGV500.AUSABK)

Pros: -quad core(1.7ghz)

-reasonably decent DPI for a resolution of 1920X1200

-will properly root.

-Battery life was reasonable, 6+ hours gaming, watching videos.

-Both camera's work, slightly noticeable sound while it tries to refocus but not a prob for most people.

-2GB ram? wish more tab's came with this much.

-11GB user storage+ SD card slot for more space

-IR blaster worked like it should.

Cons: -LG's software (switched to CM11 instead)

-Likely prone to breaking, more padding internally could help.

-Didn't have a camera flash, wasn't expecting one though.

-No extensive testing on using SD card for apps, doesn't seem to want to let you.

-speaker placement, how about front facing speakers LG? (one of the reasons for poor sound quality IMO)

Other Thoughts: Given it's small drawbacks here and there, this tablet has held up fairly well to my everyday use. I'd recommend anyone getting this also get a cover for it, i may be resistant to scratches somewhat, but it's not immune to them. also, microfiber cloth works well to keep fingerprints off of it.

a decent tablet, held up well to the abuse it's been through. a bit expensive perhaps?

5 out of 5 eggsMore than enough for a tablet

This review is from: LG G Pad 8.3 Tablet - Quad-Core 2GB RAM 16GB Flash 8.3" Full HD Display Android 4.2, Black (LGV500.AUSABK)

Pros: Knock on, Knock off feature, Quality of construction and price (If you get it on a New Egg sale for < $250). I dont think an average user (business and personal) needs a tablet beyond what the LG G Pad 8.3 offers. People over emphasize on processor, display blah blah blah. I am pretty sure this is plenty enough even if you are a geek.

Cons: LG's sloppy software update roll out and display. However, I overcame both the cons by rooting the tablet and installing Kit Kat OS on my own. I used to have my display at 70% with the LG Skin Android 4.1. After I got Kit Kat on mine, I use the display at 50 - 55% only.

Other Thoughts: LG G Pad 8.3 tablet is the best that <$250 could buy for. Do not go for a product just for its brand name and all the fancy terms they throw around and waste your money. Do your research and make your hard earned money work hard for you.

3 out of 5 eggsDDR2 ra,

This review is from: LG G Pad 8.3 Tablet - Quad-Core 2GB RAM 16GB Flash 8.3" Full HD Display Android 4.2, Black (LGV500.AUSABK)

Pros: It's the only 8.3" that is AAA brand and at 7" tablet price point.

Cons: This thing comes with DDR2 ram... This definitely takes away from batter life..

Other Thoughts: my gf has the 7" kindle fire hdx and it's hardware smokes this 1 in every way. Why use DDR2 ram LG? What were they thinking. The nature of dd2 will zap battery life more than hinder overall speed since tablets are still on the slow side to begin with.

5 out of 5 eggsPurchased 2 of them

This review is from: LG G Pad 8.3 Tablet - Quad-Core 2GB RAM 16GB Flash 8.3" Full HD Display Android 4.2, Black (LGV500.AUSABK)

Pros: Best tablet out there at 249. Great screen, runs cool, fast, and lightweight. Although this tablet is not perfect-I did buy a second one because i was so pleased with the first one. My first tablet did have a small blemish on the screen, but was not bad enough to wade through Newegg's not-so-friendy return policy......

Cons: Lg remote app is too limited. All tablets should have front facing speakers. Aluminum body makes for a slippery tablet.

Other Thoughts: I am a big fan of pure android(my s3 is running cyanogenmod kit kat), but I really LG's skin...especially the knock on/off feature.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat 8" Tablet

This review is from: LG G Pad 8.3 Tablet - Quad-Core 2GB RAM 16GB Flash 8.3" Full HD Display Android 4.2, Black (LGV500.AUSABK)

Pros: -Great PPI (for a tablet) 1920x1200/273ppi
-Micro SD Card Slot - New 128GB confirmed working
-Fast Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 cpu
-IR Blaster
-KnockOn/Tap to Wake
-Other awesome LG specific features (Multitasking with optional transparent and/or windowed apps, etc...)
-Great Developer Support! Customs ROMS (Including CM11), Kernels, etc...

Cons: -Gets slightly warm during use
-Battery is only ok, my 3 year old ipad 2 easily lasts twice as long.

Other Thoughts: -Purchased and using the Verizon LG Quick Cover with this wifi only model. Wake/Sleep with screen opening and closing works perfectly. Volume and Power buttons line up perfectly, IR blaster is not centered in the case cutout, but is not covered, and works correctly. The headphone jack is also not perfectly aligned, but is usable when the case is on. Link below:

3 out of 5 eggsHorrible Battery Life

This review is from: LG G Pad 8.3 Tablet - Quad-Core 2GB RAM 16GB Flash 8.3" Full HD Display Android 4.2, Black (LGV500.AUSABK)

Pros: The device is well put together, and feels great in the hands. The black version is the best color to get, looks sleek.

Cons: I use an LG G Flex, and it is blazing fast, and the OS overlay by LG is fantastic. However, this tablet runs completely different. It is horrible, and feels clunky. Its very sluggish, and battery life is horribly bad. Which is why I would tell you to pass on this tablet. I paid only $249, and after using it for a while it's still not worth that.

Other Thoughts: Don't get this, lol sorry. There combination of processor, and overlay jusy doesn't work.

5 out of 5 eggsFANTASTIC

This review is from: LG G Pad 8.3 Tablet - Quad-Core 2GB RAM 16GB Flash 8.3" Full HD Display Android 4.2, Black (LGV500.AUSABK)

Pros: Absolutely fantastic in every way. Perfect form factor. East to hold. Excellent, clear and bright display. Perfect form factor... much better than 7 inch screens but not so bulky like 10 inch. Extremely fast, great price. This tablet is underrated.

Cons: My local Best Buy did not have a sample on display. If they did, it would out sell every other product! I bought this just based on reviews and couldnt be happier!

Other Thoughts: I just cant believe this tablet isnt more popular. Ive had a lot of tabletss over the years and this is by far the best!
