5 out of 5 eggsVERY GOOD

Pros: WORKS PERFECTLY, You guys need to go to the DisplayLink website to download updated drivers to prevent freezing, although I never had the freezing problem. It is also nice and compact. Includes all the ports you need.

Cons: No audio ports on the back, they are on the front, If your laptop has internal speakers and you have no speakers attached to the dynadock, disable the dynadock's audio device in the audio settings.

Other Thoughts: If you have prooblems, go to and install their drivers, do not install the drivers from the cd

2 out of 5 eggsFull of Surprises

Pros: It works - kind of...

Cons: Sending DVI/Ethernet/Multiple USBs across one USB 2.0 instead of each interface through it's own connection on the motherboard (Hint: Just plug each one into your laptop).

Other Thoughts: Fun fact - this unit has memory in it. How do I know this might you ask? Well... for one thing the external display freezes all the time (using DVI; don't know about VGA), and the only way to fix it is to turn the Dynadock off and on again (unplug the thing).

If you are not technically inclined - this will cause you more headaches than it's worth. If you're a system administrator, users with this will cause you headaches.

I don't recommend buying this product unless you don't have a choice... like me. If you don't have a choice, teach the users how to unplug this thing.

1 out of 5 eggsFreezes Win 7 Pro 64, hangs at shutdown

Pros: Worked great on my XP system. Just got a new 7 Pro 64 and this worked without the Toshiba Dynadock drivers. 7 Pro installed it's own drivers and things were going well for about a week or so, until....

My system would not boot, froze the mouse and key when it did boot and would hang on shutdown until it bluescreened. Unplugged all USB devices and found this to be the culprit.

Not sure what happened in the week or so it was working.

Cons: Does not seem to work (anymore?) with Win 7 Pro 64 even after updating the driver from Toshiba's website.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your time.

Pros: It's small and looks nice.

Cons: Doesn't give the user Gigabit Ethernet
Display Feature Blue Screened or froze my entire laptop

Other Thoughts: I just bought a Dell XPS15 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit and wanted a docking solution. I installed this and followed the directions. First boot - blue screen. Second boot - hung at login. Third and remaining boots - froze and login or coming out of sleep mode after login. As soon as I removed the USB cable, my laptop returned to normal. There is nothing on this laptop other than Office 2010, Microsoft Security Essentials (disabled during install as directed), and a few minor applications. Very disappointed.

2 out of 5 eggsAvoid this product if you use W7

Pros: Price

Cons: Very unreliable. Several hard hangs a day in W7 requiring a power reset to recover. During operation the mouse pointer often stalls and stutters. Video is OK except some Window's updates require you to go back and reconfigure the resolutions and or remote monitor settings. Buy the real docking station and save yourself the frustrations.

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible video lag/artifacts

Pros: Installation is mostly plug-and-play on Windows 7, with many drivers automatically installed from Windows Update (newer versions than those included on the CD, in some cases). Ethernet and USB ports function as expected.

Cons: Video suffers from noticeable color banding and weird compression artifacts (mostly flickering vertical lines). Worse than that, though, is the ridiculously low framerate. Even moving the mouse cursor across a blank white browser window is a herky-jerky affair, and if it's anything more visually complex than that, forget it. The framerate is so terrible that everything lags behind your actions noticeably, forcing you to slow down; this is irritating, to say the least. Actual *video* is completely out of the question: You'll be lucky if you get 5fps from a 360p YouTube video. The driver does have an "Optimize for video" toggle that improves the framerate, but at the cost of dramatically cutting down the effective resolution, making everything so blocky and pixelated that it's barely even worth it. And in my experience, the feature often simply failed to enable, with no error message or explanation.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my parents, who have a *much* higher tolerance for lag/framerate issues than I do, and even they complained about it. Toshiba's own documentation blames these problems on the limited speed of the USB interface and basically says "Deal with it", which makes me wary of trying any similar products in the future. Without usable video, this product is nothing more than a really expensive powered USB hub.

5 out of 5 eggsDYNADOCK

Pros: EASY set up if you follow the instructions, connected to my new HP Pavillion lap top, Dell widescreen and Wireless key board with ease all running win 7 pro 64bit. Installed in less than 5 min. Good price I shopped around and found this to be the best for the price. It has a small foot print on my desk at home helping to reduce the clutter. read other docking stations had trouble with win 7 even with the patches, not this, no conflicks found so far and min lag drag just adjusted the mouse speed to compensate for it. Video driver works good for HD and Gaming.

Cons: Would like power for Lap top to run off the dock.
place the speaker jack in the back of the unit and add one more usb port.

1 out of 5 eggsNot for Windows 7

Pros: Work great until they freeze.

Cons: OK, so as it stands at this date in time these docks are not Windows 7 compatible. I know the product info says they are but they DisplayLink software that comes with them has constant issues under Windows 7. We ordered 6 of these units originally and had problems within hours of deployment. The docks will freeze up and it takes unplugging them from the laptop, which results in the last image still being shown on the external monitor, and then unpleasing the unit itself to reboot the unit. This is will not go away with new driver or any amount of tweaking in the registry or anything else. We relieved 6 replacements from Toshiba that had the same issue and we are returning them and buying a Toshiba TV instead. Please do your research as of the status of this problem before buying these docks for a Windows 7 environment.

4 out of 5 eggsNICE IDEA

Pros: Weighted base, USB cable included, lots of USB ports, increased screen resolution if you want it, syncs well with windows.

Cons: no power switch - you cant just turn it off you have to unplug the unit.

Other Thoughts: i am using this with a Sony VAIO. I would like to find out how this thing transfer all this data across one USB cable, just seem like it would be a "bottleneck"
