5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely perfect

This review is from: Cooler Master NotePal U3 - Laptop Cooling Pad with Three 80 mm Configurable Fans

Pros: Light, fans are very quiet, craftsmanship solid, 3 fans a plus, keep notebook cool, fan level is adjustable, adjustable fan placement with ease. So far the best fan set up I have bougnt. I have had many fans and this one blown then out of the water. Thanks Cool Master and Newegg!

Cons: Clip could grab

Other Thoughts: Since I picked up my new notebook that cost me $1000, it was only right to protect my investment. I have no doubt this fan set up will keep my notebook And for those who are saying the fans are not quiet turn it down.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master NotePal U3 - Laptop Cooling Pad with Three 80 mm Configurable Fans

Pros: Cheaper than my old cooling pad; fans are quiet and easily adjustable.

Cons: Fans don't seem too powerful.
Rubber holders don't seem to grip the laptop too well at some heights.

Other Thoughts: A good deal for what you get. The metal seems quite sturdy to me and the fans are easily adjustable. Like I said, the fans don't seem too strong even at the highest level, but it's still better than not having them.

5 out of 5 eggsStellar design!

This review is from: Cooler Master NotePal U3 - Laptop Cooling Pad with Three 80 mm Configurable Fans

Pros: I've owned a high performance laptop since Easter of 2013 and it always served me very faithfully. I'd noticed that the fan speed would kick up quite high and the exhaust was far hotter than I was used to feeling from a notebook exhaust. In the last two months I'd installed core temp used in tandem with a widget and found that under a heavy load my computer was sustaining 210 degrees, just two degrees under it's critical auto-shutdown temperature of 212 degrees. I had it set to alert me when it got to 188 degrees, which I'd set when I first got the machine and it had never had to alert me.

It was giving me this alert nearly constantly and one night the machine did an emergency thermal self shutdown.

It alerted me to this fact upon restart and as soon as I found this out, I researched cooling pads and loved the configurable design of this pad as well as the aluminum construction.

What was a BASE temp of 160-170 degrees had dropped to a base temp of 98-105 degrees with the fans at 25% power. I positively love this cooling pad and I think it was superbly designed. This is a 15'' screen though and I bought the 19'' capacity model cooling pad (with the three fans) and I cannot envision a 19'' machine fitting atop this in any way that wouldn't cause it to overhang.

The rubber feet do very well to keep the pad firmly in place, even on a non solid surface.

Other than that...I really cannot find anything wrong with this cooling pad. It is solidly built and newegg.com stands behind their products, so if something DOES go wrong within the warranty period, I'm sure it will be taken care of straight away.

Even with the fans running at their utmost, you have to literally place your ear close enough for ones hair to get sucked in to hear much of anything. But they move an impressive amount of air!

Well done, team! Well done indeed!

Cons: The only con that I can see is that it might be a little heavy for some people. But that is a good thing! It is built to last!

The band that is designed to keep the notebook and pad together works fairly well although since my notebook charges from the side (like most) and not the rear...it has to be placed on a bit awkwardly. In such a fashion that it actually partially blocks the primary exhaust port on my notebook and has to be scrunched against the AC plug in.

3 out of 5 eggsI don't recommend this.

This review is from: Cooler Master NotePal U3 - Laptop Cooling Pad with Three 80 mm Configurable Fans

Pros: It dose cool your laptop. The configurable fans are nice.

Cons: Flimsy design. The metal mesh bends easily. This is not that big a deal because you can just bend it back into place. However, there are little plastic clips that hold the fans in place that break very easily. I only moved the fans once and I broke one of them. I work in IT and I am well aware that IT hardware can be delicate but these are ridiculously easy to break.

4 out of 5 eggsOne of the better laptop coolers we've tried

This review is from: Cooler Master NotePal U3 - Laptop Cooling Pad with Three 80 mm Configurable Fans

Pros: The construction of the cooler itself is solid. It's made from a thick piece of aluminum with rubber feet which dampen vibration on your table or desk. The configurable fans let you snap them into place under the laptop so they can blow into the right spots on the bottom of your laptop to cool the cpu or memory, hard drive, etc, depending on your laptop. The way the fans are mounted makes them easy to clean as well (as opposed to other coolers where the fans are buried in a plastic cage of sorts and hard to get at).

Cons: A few cons but take these with a grain of salt. We've used this cooler for over a year and it's been pretty solid overall. One of the fans has started getting noisy upon startup. Once the fan gets going for a few minutes, it quiets down to nearly silent. The only other con is the usb connector itself which plugs into the laptop. It's pretty large with a male connector on one side and female on the other side so it stick out quite a bit from the side of the laptop. This makes it vulnerable to being bumped and broken off. Be careful with that. Other than these things, no other problems. It's lasted longer than any other cooler we've had.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome, but handle with care

This review is from: Cooler Master NotePal U3 - Laptop Cooling Pad with Three 80 mm Configurable Fans

Pros: This is one of the best cooling devices I ever had. Three powerful fans take care of a massive heat producing gaming laptop with ease. Being made of aluminum, it is lightweight, and if your carrying case can handle its size, highly portable. I run the fans at its lowest speed, and they are able to handle the toughest job with a barely noticeable hum, and the noise level doesn't increase by much when running them at full speed.

Cons: The edges are sharp! On the first days of use, I got many micro cuts in my hands from just picking it up or adjusting its position, since there are no viewing angle adjustments on the pad itself. Lighter and smaller laptops tend to move around on this pad - specially when typing - and even slip off (I fixed this by attaching 2 thin strips of rubber across the length of the pad itself)

Other Thoughts: After I learned to handle this cooling pad with more care, I am happy with it.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap Plug = Easily Broken / Defective

This review is from: Cooler Master NotePal U3 - Laptop Cooling Pad with Three 80 mm Configurable Fans

Pros: 1 - Keeps laptop cool during semi-heavy gaming
2 - Movable fans easily help cool any laptop

Cons: 1 - Rubber grips are constantly falling out of place, needing realigned
2 - Very uncomfortable
3 - The USB cord is flimsy and looks cheap. The wiring didn't cover the red/black undercovers near the usb connection end and therefore when the laptop and cooler was rested it's easy to rest on the cord. After about 2 days of this and maybe 2-3 times it was rested on the cord (albeit very briefly) the left fan stopped working due to wire fray.

Other Thoughts: Does a great job but it's terrible design and poor cord protection means after a few rests, if you're not careful in how you rest the fan the cord will break itself.

I bought this after a $3 cooling pad from Boscov's. That pad lasted 2 months before breaking. This lasted 2 days.

You'll probably find a better buy elsewhere.
