  • newegg Dual NF-P14/NF-P12 PWM fan setup The NH-D14 sports a premium quality dual PWM fan setup consisting of Noctua’s award-winning NF-P12 (120mm) and NF-P14 (140mm) fans. 5 out of 5 eggsJumping Jehosafat!!

Pros: Quiet, works great, nicely engineered to clear ram, etc.
Even overclocking and stress testing my I7 six core at 4.5GHz, it's quiet and kept the processor cool.

Cons: It's huge. I mean, check the dimensions! I have a 4U case and either I need a different case or hood scoop!

Other Thoughts: I cannot hear it run, pretty sure I could remove fan #2, but it fits and helps other components stay cool

5 out of 5 eggsHuge, but cool

Pros: Cools very well, no cooling issues after the first 6 months

Cons: FREAKING HUGE!!!!! requires a large amount of space in the case just to exist. Also kinda hard to get those screws into the mobo.

Other Thoughts: This cooler taught me to always check the dimensions of the device that I'm ordering before I order it. I had no idea how FREAKING HUGE this thing was. The included screwdriver was absolutely necessary to attach it to the mobo, but it took me several attempts to get that second screw in. The first one went in without too much issue, and the last two were easy, but that second screw, well, I just couldn't get it to catch the groove on the mobo. After 30+ minutes I finally got it in. I took a break after that ordeal. That's when I realized that I should've put the RAM in first, since it covered almost half of the slots, including the one I needed. Fortunately I was able to get it in without having to take of the cooler, but I'm going to be hating life if I need more than 16 GB of RAM. Anyway, after all was said and done, I haven't had to touch this cooler since June of 2014. I've had not a single heating issue since installation, and I'm pretty happy with that. Makes all the work to install it worth it. That is, until I need to upgrade my RAM in a couple of years.

5 out of 5 eggsEffective cooler

Pros: Cools well w/ med high overclock. Quiet. Clearance for GSkill Ripjaws ram on Gigabyte x99 Gaming G1.
Clears 1st gpu slot if turned 90 degrees from the common mounting position. This works well for my cooling setup, drawing air over the power phase capacitors and blowing toward the rear of the video card

Cons: Ram probably would be difficult to remove if the mobo was still mounted in a case

4 out of 5 eggsGiant and quiet

Pros: This thing run silent!! This computer sits in a recording studio and wanted the lowest dB fan I could find.

Cons: It is so big that it completely covers the ram slots. Changing ram will require removing and reinstalling fan.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat performance but caveat for tall RAM/small case

Pros: Core i7-3930K, running at 99.6%-100% 24x7. Intel liquid cooler kept it at ~59C. This no-liquid cooler has it at 52C. I could even overclock... amazing performance and by far the best heatsink/fan CPU cooler I have ever owned.

Cons: I did have to get new RAM; as has been noted large heatsinks may prevent this unit from seating properly.I found DIMMs under 5cm in height total will fit. But this was made clear enough beforehand. This is a large and heavy unit; it requires a full-sized or oversized case so I may rubberband the heat sink to the case roof so that it isn't putting stress on the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: When my liquid cooler' warranty ran out, I decided to move off liquid, not wanting to risk the three top-of-the-line video cards I've added in the interim being leaked on (makers I have seen only compensate a small fraction of damage caused by their coolers leaking... if more people knew about this I would imagine the popularity of liquid wouldn't be so high.)

5 out of 5 eggsNoctua super cooling!

Pros: Noctua has my Intel i7 3930K 12 core CPU running at 34 Celcius! Extremely happy with quality and Newegg's fast shipping.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Would recommend this over a water cooler. The benchmarks speak for themselves. Will also last longer.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's heavy!

Pros: 1. Quality
2. Nice design
3. Easy to install

Cons: 1. Quite heavy

Other Thoughts: I'm worried that this heatsink will warp my motherboard given how heavy it is.

5 out of 5 eggsBig. Works perfectly.

Pros: Includes good heatsink grease.
Silent at lowest settings.

Cons: If there was a con it would be that it is huge but I expected that.

Other Thoughts: Fits in NZXT H440 case (was a little afraid it wouldn't)

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing cooler, but very very large

Pros: This fan is a beast. I am using it with an overclocked 5820k running at 3.9 ghz. Idles are around 23C-27C, and under load rarely goes over 54C (on an overclocked CPU). When the 5820k was at stock (3.30ghz), I was getting idles of 19-21C! While idle and under load it is almost silent. The dual fan and heatsink setup create a great airflow, in conjunction with a front case intake fan and a rear exhaust fan its amazing.

Fan is very easy and intuitive to install. No back plate, the new X-99 boards handle cooler attachment very well. You just screw mounting brackets in, then 2 plates on top, secure those and fan gets attached right on. Easiest after-market high end cooler install I have had in years.

Cons: Only con is SIZE. The cooler is massive, literally 1/2 the size width wise of a full atx motherboard. It completely eclipses all the memory slots. If your memory is extra tall, you might have issues.

Other Thoughts: Luckily they are very open about this and their site even provides guides and compatibility with boards and memory. Before buying make sure you are diligent about its height, motherboard compatibility in relation to its size, and if it will be able to fit in your case with side closed. Trust me if you are not a fan of water-cooling this is the next best thing and is worth the time to check if it will fit!
