Yes, it will work with Windows 7 Professional as that is the operating system that we are using.  I had no problems installing the hardware for this HP Scanjet 5590 Digital Flatbed Scanner and I am enjoying using it without any problems.

I don't know. We run Windows 7 and installed software that came in box. Software works fine. I want to return scanner. The document feeder would not work Jammed on first sheet, every time. Very frustrating, since that was feature most important to me.

Does this scanner scan to laptop in PDF file?

Accepted Answer

Any scanner can digitize a document into PDF format.  However, this scanner (which I currently have) has multi page reliability problems. The feeder does not work properly.  Check out the feedback for this model scanner on google.

Can this unit fax as well as just scan?

If you have an additional fax service, like faxitnice, I'm sure you could set up a fax workflow which scans a doc and uploads it to one of many various fax services.
