4 out of 5 eggsHorrible shipping protection, works well.

This review is from: CyberPower AVR CP1500AVRT 1500 VA 900 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: (old)I received and plugged the battery in. Works as intended. Works as expected. I have yet to test its ability to keep my desktop and 2 monitors on when the power flickers off, which ironically has not happened since I purchased the battery. I will update this review when ever it happens.(old)

(NEW) - The power has gone out quite a few times since I live in an old neighborhood. This power supply has held strong all but one of those time (A total of about 20 times of it happening). Fortunately when the power goes out and my computer (and two monitors) stays on, even me in the middle of my video games, I stay online. The beeping can be turned off in the software which you can download from the website for free.

Cons: Shipping needs to be fixed. This product arrived in its measly store-shelf box. Meaning it has ZERO protection from the abuse of the shipping company. The box was shredded and beaten. The product had been opened and obviously taken out or had fallen out. The foam was nearly obliterated from shipping. I was afraid that from the condition the product arrived in, it may not have been functional. To the shipper, please for the life of it, add an extra dollar to the price tag and put this product inside of a proper shipping container with foam packaging.

(Update) I still stand firm on this. The shipping was frightening when it first arrived in a simple, beat up store box.

Other Thoughts: I'm glad I bought this battery. Some of the plug sockets can be tough to get a plug into the first or second time. It's heavy, so if you have bad hands like I do, be careful. I wouldn't put this thing on any shelf higher than 1 foot. It weighs more than my gaming rig :D

4 out of 5 eggsWorks but causes network issues

This review is from: CyberPower AVR CP1500AVRT 1500 VA 900 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Works out of the box (after charging for 16 hours)
My power has gone off a total of 3 times since I've had it. Worked great every time.

Cons: When the power goes out my internet drops to 6MBps. I have my computer ethernet connected to the device and when the power goes out and then comes back on my internet speed is reduced.

My speed came back after directly connecting my computer to my router.

So I cannot use the Ethernet port on this device. Removed one egg for this reason.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this a few weeks ago due to my neighborhood having terrible power issues. It's been working great except for the fact I cannot use the ethernet port.

It worked perfect up until I had my first outage. After the power came back my internet was reduced from 105MBps to 6MBps. No other device in my house had their speed reduced. Once I connected my ethernet cable directly into the router my speed went back to normal.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Impressive UPS

This review is from: CyberPower AVR CP1500AVRT 1500 VA 900 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: I purchased my UPS back in May 2007. After continuous use, it has just reached the point where I'm getting indications of a bad battery (overload light comes on).

Highly Recommended!

Cons: None except I wish it could order its own batteries!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

This review is from: CyberPower AVR CP1500AVRT 1500 VA 900 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Comes with nice software to view battery power and the ability to customize settings.
My power goes out when there's even a little thunderstorm, so this is nice to have.

Cons: Doesn't let me travel in time.

Other Thoughts: I was able to get a replacement when the first one was acting a a little iffy extremely fast. Newegg handled it really well.

3 out of 5 eggsBad Battery

This review is from: CyberPower AVR CP1500AVRT 1500 VA 900 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: The product looks nice and operated well after being removed from the package and installed. The sockets are very tight, which should help to prevent any power cables from randomly and inconveniently disconnecting. The software installs without issue on Windows 8.1 and offers useful information and functionality, like the self-test feature, which is quite useful; it mimics a power outage, allowing the owner to judge whether or not the UPS will function as intended in the event of a real one.

Cons: I believe I may have been unlucky enough to have a bad/dying battery in my unit. When my UPS first arrived, it seemed fine. The software that is shipped with it showed that the battery was remaining fully charged, and the self-test feature always returned positive results and, quite importantly, did not result in my connected devices losing power. Now, the software reads that the battery will not charge beyond ~60%, and whenever I initiate a self-test, the charge percentage plummets to anywhere between 13% and 32%, will proceed to charge to anywhere between 37% to 60%, and then cease charging again - and all connected devices lose power. (Note: The software always reads that the device is charging, even when the percentage readout does not change.)

It may be prudent to note that for a time, despite the low power draw I mention in the Other Thoughts section, the software displayed that the battery was almost constantly being used, but simultaneously showed that power was being supplied by my AC utility.

Other Thoughts: The software also shows total wattage draw by all devices currently connected to the battery-supplied outlets, which is neat, but I'm not sure of its accuracy. My power draw ranges from 135 watts at minimal computer load to 275 while playing any one of numerous maximized-graphics games. My connected devices include a PC tower, monitor, 2.1 speaker system, and an external HDD.

5 out of 5 eggsBuy it now before your system dies!

This review is from: CyberPower AVR CP1500AVRT 1500 VA 900 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Protects very expensive equipment. A whole lot cheaper than the cost and all the crying you will do when your system dies because you didn't buy it. Have never has a problem with anything hooked up to these.

Cons: Still a bit pricy. Haven't gotten past 3 years on the battery packs. This is the 5th UPS I have purchased. Will not operate my equipment without them. Utilities can not be trusted, brown outs, total failures, lightning strikes. Battery packs cost 50% of a new unit. They really need to lower this.

Other Thoughts: Do not put anything on these things like a fan or motor. A short will totally destroy the output MOSFETS.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is for CyberPower AVR Series CP1500AVRT 1500VA 900 Watts 4 x 5-15R Battery/Surge Protected 4 x 5-15R Surge Protected Outlets UPS

This review is from: CyberPower AVR CP1500AVRT 1500 VA 900 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: This CyberPower AVR Series CP1500AVRT 1500VA 900 Watts Looks nice plug and play. Works grate I ran a few tests and all works.

Cons: Heavy lol but hey it has a battery in it go figure. None so far I will update if thee is a change.

Other Thoughts: Ok side note it was shipped in it's on the shelf box , lets just say I was a little worried after reading some reviews before buying this, but even with the 800lb gorilla's at UPS got done with it, the box was a little roughed up but the CyberPowe Surge Protector came through with no problems.

4 out of 5 eggsOverall positive

This review is from: CyberPower AVR CP1500AVRT 1500 VA 900 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Easy to set up. Seems to do what it says it will do.

Cons: Newegg Shipping slapped a label on the retail box and shipped it. When it arrived, CD was broken in half, styrofoam destroyed, and box was torn open and had been retaped. UPS was OK though. I'm also disappointed with the data that the software gets from the RS232 port. Over USB, you can get power consumption (watts), estimated run time, and some other parameters. Over serial, you get charging or not, and that's it. I was hoping to put an ethernet to serial adapter on this and stick it in my attic, but the poor data over serial doesn't make it worth my time.

Other Thoughts: Newegg, these boxes are not shipping boxes. They are thin and barely glued together.
