4 out of 5 eggsNot worth the money

Pros: Really fun to use. Really easy to use too.

Cons: No legal thrid party apps available. More difficult to use while driving than classic iPods. Should have bit the bullet and gotten an iPhone instead since iPod Touches are bound to WiFi

Other Thoughts: Basically, the iPod Touch will be awesome when the app store is released soon. At the moment, in order to use any third party apps on the iPod, you have to have an internet connection. If the app store weren't coming out soon, i'd have given this a 3

3 out of 5 eggsGood looks, mediocre performance

Pros: The interface is easily the best in the business as far as I am concerned. It is a very slick device that is so user friendly that nothing even comes close. It is the perfect size for playing short videos or showing off pictures of your kids. Built in wi-fi is awesome and the built in features are a good start to keep you interested for a couple of months. Overall it is a solid physical device.

Cons: Sound quality of the MP3 player is mediocre at best. I get a lot of noise from the device when I adjust the volume control while it is playing. At $480+ the price is ridiculous. 16 gigs sounds like a lot and it used to be a lot but once you start loading up videos/pics of the kids and a decent music collection you see big chunks of storage go bye-bye.

Did I mention that the worst thing about this product is Apple's Gestapo approach to business? If you want to store and show photos only you need to load iTunes (not just a photo utility) to view the photos on the iTouch. Apple has to put their grimy little hands on every aspect of the media. It is ridiculous. And while the iTouch interface is awesome, iTunes leaves much to be desired.

And if you are one of the few people who discovered MP3's before iPod, you have a lot of work to do to get your MP3s onto your iTouch. iTunes does not pull the album artwork unless you use iTunes to rip the CD from the start.

Other Thoughts: For a long term product, the same old gadgets get stale pretty quickly. Apple needs to cut the product loose and let real programmers create some content for the device. Apple will Nickel and Dime you until you ask yourself why you didn't choose a simple MP3 player that you don't have to keep pouring money into.

4 out of 5 eggsIPOD Touch

Pros: The world's in my back pocket. Truly an amazing device.

Cons: Newegg isn't selling the latest version. Touches manufactured before the first of the year don't have the mail client and require a purchase. Feel it's overly dependent on itunes software. itunes must be installed on a pc and the Touch plugged in and accessed before use.

Other Thoughts: Wish it were possible to view plain text or html documents directly on the Touch so I could use it as a book reader.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great Product, Have had great battery life, It does its job very well as an Ipod player, a webbrowser, movie player. I would expect nothing more for it to do.

With that said the first thing i did was jailbreak the phone with ziphone. and installed all sorts of games and extra applications to make this a very usefull item in my every day life, the one thing your mising is the phone part to make it an iphone, but dont let they slow you down with a mic adapter and some know how you can use voip to talk over the phone just aslong as you have an internet connection.

Cons: lack of games from manufacturer & cost for minor updates it should come with the original purchase. but not a problem once the itouch is jailbroken

Other Thoughts: Fast shipment. Well packed, Good job newegg

5 out of 5 eggsiPod Touch - better yet ...

Pros: Simply stated - ease of use; very clear responsive video; usable web browser, contact directory & e-mail apps (efficient & effective); lots of free web apps are available; 16 GB is plenty of space for everyday users . . . and did I mention how easy it is to use.

Cons: Very minor issues - scratches easily; battery life is great for the music only function, but it's merely average for video and app features.

Other Thoughts: This is my third iPod and quite frankly this is the best one. I love my iPod Touch - period! Unfortunately I now have all these "I wish it also did this or that moments," which in turn has increased my desire for the iPhone and the other desirable features the iPhone comes with. It's getting to the point where WiFi doesn't cut it anymore. I want to be online whenever I want; I want to do my work in real time no matter where I am . . . this is an indication that I use my iPod all the time and I don't just use it for the music.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Sleek, great web browsing, and very intuitive. I don't know what some people are talking about no homebrew, because the ipod touch is all about homebrew via Intaller or Cydia. You can play hundreds of games while listening to music. There is also a plugin for Safari that allows you to read doc and pdf files along with a bunch of other formats. Check out emulators such as SNES on the touch too, or take them along with you where ever you go. Very user friendly and has great potential as a handheld device.

Cons: none, zero, nada

Other Thoughts: Homebrew requires some googling, and make sure you know what to do before you do it. It isn't hard though.

5 out of 5 eggsiPod Touch

Pros: This is my first mp3 player, but I think it would have been hard to find a better one. Videos are amazing on it, really bright and clear. The two finger zoom makes text plenty big enough to read. Internet is faster than many computers. Havn't tried iTunes yet, but it looks good. Pictures look
great on it, especially with the zoom and accelerometer. Auto brightness works well. The ear buds seem to work fine for me, but I'm not trying to get crystal clear sound or anything. I can type almost as fast as on a full sized keyboard, thanks to the auto correcting thing. Coverflow looks cool. iTunes, although it could be better, works well. Everyone thinks its an iPhone.

Cons: The wifi seems a little weak, but then I'm used to my olpc laptop with its "rabbit ears" and my dell laptop with wifi catcher. I wish it had a camera and a mic. Doesn't include Jan. update, but since its $50 less than Apple I can buy the update and still save $30. Apple should be ashamed of its self for making you pay for updates. Apple doesn't include a wall charger, but Newegg gave me one. I wish they had made it a little more durable, I'm afraid I'll scratch it.

Other Thoughts: This is, as I've said, my first mp3 player. I did NOT want to go along with everyone else and get an iPod but this was just simply the best. I wanted wifi like a PDA, but I also wanted more than 128MBs of storage space! Mine is actually an 8GB model, but I couldn't find it any more. This is also my first time to get anything from Newegg and so far I'm quite satasfied. Overall a five "eggs" product. Thanks Newegg!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat iPod + Tips

Pros: EXCELLENT music player, web, youtube, etc. Coverflow, movies, tilt, beautiful design. Battery life is fine for me. Get this music player, it's wonderful, and the touch screen is amazing, with a ton of functionality, you just have to know all the features.

Cons: Smudges and/or gets marked up easily. GET A CASE! I recommend, very cool designs and not bulky or ugly. PRICE IS HORRIBLE! I couldn't believe I paid $400 for 16GB, that's a tremendously disappointing price from apple, who is offering a 160GB Classic for around $350.

Other Thoughts: First of all, if you're complaining about having to go back to the music through the homepage to change the song you're wrong. I discovered that if you tap the home key twice, it will bring up basic music controls including track skipping, volume, and pause/play. I haven't had any battery issues with my iPod, but to get the best battery life you have to charge it with your computer, much better results; I browsed the internet for about an hour and only got down to around 75% battery, maybe it's just my iPod though.

4 out of 5 eggsWaiting for the next few steps

Pros: I'm not a device convergence fanatic -- I'd expect an iPod to play music, and improve by refining music playback quality -- but it's almost unfair to call this an iPod. Combining wireless net integration and a software SDK means universal remote for, well, almost anything I can plug into my LAN. Anticipating additional software, it's cheap for such a flexible device.

Cons: Expensive for an audio player, and a mundane set of bundled app's. Waiting for the dev community to make good use of the SDK.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't this make a nice controller for an Apple TV that plays only music on a good stereo? No comparison to alternative products, but it can Google Map too.
