Will it work w/ iPad??

If you can get the speaker to line up with the line on the top it should.  definitely works using the aux port.  I know it works with the iphone and many android phones, even tried with a windows phone.  If a phone is in a heavy case like an otterbox it is not so good.  The aux port does sound better than just setting it on top of the unit.  It is only mono when you set it on top.  It is stereo and a cleaner sound.  Either way for a $15 device you are not getting high quality sound like the bluetooth units from beats or bose.  It is nice for quick an easy music that does play louder than the built in device speaker and the novelty of how it works.

Question 2

How does it REALLY work? Is it NFC? Or actually induction, so I can use anything with a speaker with this?

Sound is great, the speaker no need to pair with your iPhone or any smart phone. You just put your smart phone over the top, but your smartphone bottom speaker must close and over the grey line on top of the speaker to make it works. You can use it for listen music or for speaker phone to talk or phone ringing .Once you have full charged and it last around 5.5 hours. I already order the other one black & red. I hope it help.
