Good but not Great
- Pros: I actually got mine from a retail store where I could test this unit side by side with other players in the price range. This was by far the loudest and had the most full sound.
Rechargeable battery and FM radio makes it great for travel / camping.
- Cons: Not really a con - If you want great sound you need to go with a Bose docking station or something similair. For the price this a great unit but if you want the best docking audio out there you will need to pay. Do not buy this thinking you will get Bose quality for half the price!
- Other Thoughts: The unit has a "Subwoofer out" jack. Currently AL does NOT sell a stand alone subwoofer that is compatable with this unit. It is rumoured that certain subs included in AL computer speaker sets will work but I don't think AL supports anything.
Great buy
- Pros: The sound on this little system is great. I only have to turn it up about halfway and it echoes through my three bedroom apartment. And the size is what gets me. It's so small. And I love that it's portable. It sounds just as good on battery. Plus, it has a jack for a sub, not that it really needs one. The bass sounds great anyway. The only other similar setup I would considering buying over this would be the Bose dock system but this is considerably cheaper and as far as I know the Bose system isn't portable.
- Cons: Remote control seems kind of cheap.
- Other Thoughts: I hear people complain about Altec Lansing but I've got some pc speakers that have been rockin' it out for a few years now. I prefer AL over any other desktop speakers I've found so far. And you really can't beat the price. I think my desktop speakers were around $13 and they beat out my old dell and soundblaster speakers. I'd recommend them to anybody inquiring.

Great when it worked!
- Pros: Simple design. User friendly. Pretty. Decent sound despite lack of subwoofer (a little tinny, but ok overall). Works with 3rd gen Nano. Didn't buy it at Newegg. Prolly shouda?
- Cons: Dock stopped working suddenly. Ipod will work through aux, but no fun in that. Won't read or charge when docked - nada. Haven't heard good things about customer support, so we will probably just return it.
- Other Thoughts: Bummed, but not surprised. Got it through a 'deal' at a big box wholesaler in November. Probably a reason they had an overstock. Never been impressed by Altec Lansing to begin with. PC speakers and subs always seem to die before the computer does.
Video review? Of what? The thing not working? Whatev. Oh yeah - been in love with the egg for years!
