4 out of 5 eggsSony eReader

Pros: The Sony eReader is extremely useful as a student on the go. The product allows for pdf files to be uploaded and used as a book. Although it does function mainly as an electronic book, my main purpose is for presentations and information I need to take with me as study material. The eReader is also extremely easy to use as I just plug it into my computer and its software is similar to that of iTunes. The eReader also has great battery life, as it is in grayscale and therefore is not drained by unnecessary colors. It is also convenient because several textbooks I need can be purchased at a fraction of the price and take up little room in my bag. Not to mention I have never had any serious issues with Sony products, which liter my desk and room. Also there is a bookmark functions, which is excellent for keeping track of important pages without having to search through the file for specific information. My father also has one and takes it with him on his travels for both business

Cons: There are few cons that go along with the eReader. Although the grayscale saves battery life, the images seem a bit distorted in my opinion. Also it did take a bit to get used to the functions of the buttons. Although I have great eye sight, I am not sure how straining it could be to the user, but over time all books are anyways.

Other Thoughts: Other thoughts on the product would be on who to get the product for. If you have someone that is constantly on the go this is a great product. It is light weight and easy to maintain, as the screen is protected and fits safely in my bag. For passionate readers I could also see this product being a great buy, as digital text is cheaper than the printed form.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat e-book reader

Pros: Small, sleek. Accepts SD cards and can thus be upgraded to huge memory capacities. Screen is incredible; easy to read, just like paper. This product feels "finished" - the kinks have been worked out and it is solid in just about every metric. Device is recognized as removable storage on any computer and thus is universally compatible when it comes to file transfers.

Cons: Cannot read HTML files. Support for PDF files is limited to PDF files in which the text is recognized as such (ie, you will have problems with scanned PDFs unless they have been run through OCR).

Other Thoughts: If you are using this device with a Linux distribution, check out the open source Calibre e-book library manager. It is only a g00g)e search away.
