Yes.  The CPU and wireless card come pre-installed.  You will need to purchase a laptop hard drive and RAM.

No this unit does not come with a Hard drive or Memory. You must purchase a 2.5" SDD drive as well as specific type of memory. It has to be 1.35V DDR3 SO-DIMM.

Question 3

We currently install IP cameras for security, and need a pc to view camera feeds on monitor. I am not clear on how these mini pcs work regarding system software... do they have an operating system installed? Can you install software (eg. IP Camera monitoring software) on these?  This pc ONLY is used to connect to the internet and local network for viewing camera feeds... Thanks!

hi there rick, this computer is a barebone- means it only have motherboard, cpu(intel), wifi, bluetooth. you still have to purchase addition to this a " ram , and hard drive or SSD ". once you install your HD or SSD. you can choice to install Windows 7/8/xp, or linux on it, it will not work for mac-os-x. so its almost like having a regular pc. the ip camera your using is just software, but the input would have to be in usb , as this computer will only receive usb 2.0/3.0 . you can connect to the internet via ethernet - or wifi . if your ip camera can be plug in to the ethernet hub than you can probably access it from there. w/o direct connections to the NUC. the pro of this is you can run this 24/7 and it draws only 35watts on full power. hope this helps. good luck

i may have wrong ram i did use 1.35 v ddr3l and still won't boot no video signal?

Are you getting a power light without it blinking? I tried two different monitors and could not get into the BIOS or even see anything on the screen. It was not until I hooked it up to a TV that I saw the F2, F7, F10 screen, but even then when I hit any of those keys it would not react. I went ahead and let it boot to a USB drive with Win8 on it and installed to internal SSD then within Win8 I flashed to the latest.
As long as the power light is on and not flashing try hooking up to as many monitors or TV's that you can. The older BIOS that ships with these NUC's needs a display that is a certain format. The newer BIOS fixed that so you just need to get past that point.

No, it's a "Barebone" system.  It consists of the chassis, motherboard, CPU and power supply.

You must provide RAM, Hard drive and OS.

It comes with a CPU and (integrated GPU) but not memory.  You have to supply memory and some form of storage (probably a 2.5" SATA drive).  Wireless is included, but I upgraded mine to 802.11ac.
