I see what appear to be charging cables (car and USB) for this unit but I don't see a charging cable that allows for real time traffic updates. Does this unit have some sort of internal capability to provide real time traffic updates or must I purchase a cable in addition to this unit?

I'm not sure what you mean by a special charging cable, but it has a car charging cable and I've had the unit say that there is "Traffic ahead". That's all I know regarding your question.

Does this Garmin show the speed limit for the rad you are on?

yes-however if there are work zone speed limits it may show the normal speed limit

Does this product include the accessories shown?

Includes car charger, usb cable to computer, quick start guide. Protective film was still on screen. All accessories appeared unused.

what connecting cord/s do I need to upgrade my maps as I received a message on the GARMIN?

It came WITH the Unit !!!!!!!!!!! In the box ! Try reading your instruction manual FIRST< next time !@
