The TomTom ONE XL-S gives you brilliant basic GPS navigation to make your day on the road easier! You can choose fastest or shortest route, bicycle or walking route, or limited speed routing to avoid freeways. ONE XL mounts quickly to your windshield with a simple heavy-duty suction cup mount, which is included.
The TomTom ONE XL-S comes with pre-installed maps for the U.S. and Canada, and a large database of POI (Points of Interest) which helps you find necessities like food and gas, and fun stuff like shopping and attractions. The turn-by-turn voice directions speak the street names to help you find your destination without having to take you eyes off the road.
With support for an optional traffic sensor (sold separately) and an “Avoid Roadblock” feature that lets you re-route around construction or other slow-downs, you can avoid burning gas unnecessarily while sitting in traffic. The TomTom ONE XL-S brings you everything you need to stay on time and out of traffic in one pocket-sized package!

Total Bang For The Buck!
- Pros: There's too much to tell. Other manufacturers' sat-nav units do not hold a candle to Tomtom's units. Incredibly intuitive User Interface (UI). It has the standard Tomtom interface, making it extremely easy to navigate and enter information like map share data, favorites and itineraries. The accompanying desktop software is really outstanding, and was a major selling point for me. Tomtom's app is full-featured for everything from customizing/updating you device to managing your Tomtom account. It even has a sat-nav emulator for their sat-nav untis which allows you to create/manage itineraries & favorites as well as change settings and more.
- Cons: * "GPS Quickfix" is the only way to achieve a quick lock-on when the device is powered up. Some may consider this a Con, so I listed it here. Personally, I think this is a non-issue since I use the PC software to update my maps via mapshare and setup my itineraries and favorites prior to departure.
* I really wish that the traffice antenna were internal or included. It is really a shame that this is not standard.
* I would like to have seen BT Address book sharing or some way to tranfer addresses from Google Maps to the XL-S (this unit is BT capable but ONLY for data features directly tied to your tomtom account.
- Other Thoughts: I have read some reviews about this model not shutting down when plugged in to the car charger socket once ignition is de-activated. If the unit is currently in navigation mode while the car is turned off, then it will stay on. If the route is cleared out from the XL-S, the unit will shut down automatically when the car is shut off.
Most sat-nav units have basically the same feature set, but in practice, the UI will make or break the unit. Tomtom has the most mature UI of any GPS I had played with, although you will pay through the nose for it.
TomTom One XL-S
- Pros: Purchased this device right before a road trip for the Thanksgiving Holiday season and I am very pleased with the value of this GPS. The luxury of a 4.3" screen w/text-to-speech functionality at a very reasonable price(Picked it up for $119.99 as a daily special). Downloaded all updates for it within minutes via usb connection, also grabbed some custom voices for the speech feature.
- Cons: Just one complaint and it was probably an oversight by the user(me), I could not get the temperature option to display.

no problems with the refurb unit
- Pros: Easy to use. Fun voice options. Lots of maps and features. They let you download the first map update for free. I highly recommend this unit. also, because it was refurbed, the price was very good. To me, it might as well be brand new because there's nothing wrong with it.
- Cons: With all new GPS, the maps are probably all outdated as soon as you buy it. Because this was a refurb unit, the free map download code was no longer valid. Had to make copies of documents and send it to customer service before they would give me the free map download. It's a minor con so im still giving this item 5 eggs.

- Pros: love it, went on vacation and it always got us to where we were going and back to out resort. very easy to operate.
