2 out of 5 eggspower hungry

Pros: non

Cons: 1- The power consumption is really high. You need to change the battery frequently. 2- With that price you can buy better sound recorder/mp3 player/mpeg player with larger memory size 3- there is nothing particular about the quality of recorder sound in this unit. Most MP3 players provide the same quality

Other Thoughts: Get something which has more functionality, more memory and rechargeable battery

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: 1) can plug a 1/8" stereo lapel mic (or other)
2) unit has on/off 'switch'. Can't accidentally turn on or off.
3) unit has 'lock' switch. When engaged, all buttons on the unit are disabled... so you won't accidentally erase or stop recording if the buttons are touched.
4) Records in windows media audio...smaller file size
5) Easy file transfer. Just snap the the unit apart to expose the USB end and plug right into your computer USB port. Drag and drop. Less than 30 sec. to transfer 4 hrs. of audio.
6)price... one of these units, essentially replaces a $600 wireless lapel mic system for my application.
7)really compact & light.
8) hi and lo sensitity settings. Hi you hear everything...but not relly clearly becuase of background noise being picked up. However, lo sensitivity it works great for my application and will pick up vocals very nice and clean within about a 4-6 foot area.

Cons: 1) wma audio. Not quite the most ideal situation for videography. However, I ran the recordings through Adobe Audition and applied two quick filters and resample as wav files @ 48,000 kb. This took less than two minutes and the resulting audio is more than acceptable to add to a video production.
2) In the videography realm we tend to have a lust or need to monitor every bit of audio and video we capture. That can't be done with this unit because you drop it in the subject's pocket and get what you get... there is no feed to a head set or mic mixer. But, I've found that as long as the batteries in the unit are good, everything is good. However, there is a risk we assume using these units for this application... if one were to fail at the wrong time, we could be in a bind . It's a risk I'm willing to take...but I'll pick my spots.
2) Others may have a problem with the recording time in HQ mode, but for my application 4 hours is way more than enough.

Other Thoughts: Unbelieveable. I'm a videographer. When doing shoots in which there are several subjects in multiple locations within a room or church that you need to get clear audio from, I usually use multiple wireless lavalier mics and a mic mixer or extra camera. This not only is expensive because a single low end Sennheiser wireless lapel system runs $600/copy. Not only that, the camera is laden with recievers plus the mic mixer, etc. Believe me, this is a huge amount of work.

I looked into the Samsung voice recorder in an attempt to lighten up the amount of equipment and setup time as well as post production time. Well, this far exceeded my expectations, and I'm going to get 3 more.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very portable and indiscrete.

Cons: Memory is somewhat lacking if recording in high quality.

Other Thoughts: Buttons are small, but so is the unit so it's understandable.

3 out of 5 eggsFun Gadget

Pros: Cool looking, works well, requires that you purchase separate lapel mic as it picks up everything when in your pocket or around your neck.

Cons: buttons seem, well kinda chincy

Other Thoughts: I would forgo this and get the Creative Zen Vision: M as it does this with 30 Gigs and only costs 3 times as much. The contrast here is that this unit only has 64 megs of ram.

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: semi-compact, looks cool on lanyard

Cons: buttons ridiculously small, but workable, comes with no case and needs one. Paint starts to come off a tad.
Main con? Small memory/wma support

Other Thoughts: For as cheap as flash memory is, it is ridiculous to pay this much for any device that only has a 64 meg card in it. End of story.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Comments: I purchased this voice recorder to record my college math classes so that I would be able to hear part of a lecture another time if needed. This recorder is awesome! Its recorded audio quality is great, and I am able to hear my teacher anywhere in the room clearly on the recordings. Also, there is no need to have a USB cable with this model because the recorder pulls apart to expose a USB outlet...fast transfer too. I highly recommend this recorder!

5 out of 5 eggsGood quality for the price

Comments: I got this recorder to record my college History class lectures. After my first recording I was initially disappointed because when I played it back on the recorders speaker, it sounded terrible. I plugged in some headphones in the jack though and was blown away by the sound quality! There were 2 in-window air conditioners running in the room and I could still hear the professor perfectly! In fact, I posted them on my website so my classmates could take advantage of my good fortune. Their tape recorders couldnt even come close to the quality of sound this thing put out!
