Please read the product description carefully for all unlocked cell phones.

Some unlocked cell phones sold by Newegg may have previously been locked to a specific carrier. A carrier-locked cell phone may often have carrier-specific applications and branding. Some of these applications cannot be unlocked and/or may not function with a different carrier. Also, applications requiring a data plan may result in data usage charges from the original carrier.

In addition, the cell phone box may arrive unsealed and the cell phone may appear previously handled. The unlocking procedure requires unsealing the box and manually handling the cell phone. In this case, the cell phone should not be considered "tampered with" or "defective".

3 out of 5 eggsI liked it well enough for a while

Pros: It was fun for a while, and did the stuff I hoped for. But...

Cons: ... it started failing badly, hardware and software. Had to had USB port replaced, then it broke down again. And the app market was a desert. App support for what was there was poor, too. Google Maps never worked.

Other Thoughts: Perhaps if I could code Linux/Android I'd have been happier. As it is - it was an interesting experiment I don't regret but wouldn't repeat it now.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Linux Phone So Far

Pros: I've had this phone since it's release in November of 2009. When it first came to the market it was the best Smart Phone out there. Android's were no where, and Apple couldn't utter the word multitask. Unlike Android where companies provide updates for a limited time N900 was open, and a community formed that continues to update the OS; to this day. CSSU provides me updates once Nokia gave up.

Cons: It's only getting older, without a comparable modern phone in sight.

1 out of 5 eggsbad phone...good for multitasking

Pros: Lost IMEI after using for 4 weeks...my Nokia N900 phone suddenly popped up with the message -

„All telephony functions, including emergency calls, are disabled due to communication error. To recover, you might have to reboot the device” no solution for that ...

Cons: Perfect to have it like a pocket PC...

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely awesome

Pros: I've had this phone for a year and never grown bored with it. Being completed open OS allows for so many ways to customize. Multi-tasking capability is just awesome. Tons of free apps. Just about every form of communication available on a mobile device, wifi, IR, BT, FM.

Cons: Camera cover sliding mechanism is a bit cheaply made. Mine broke after several months of use. I've found that this is a common problem.

Other Thoughts: This phone is best suited for people that have a high level of tech knowledge. With the open OS, you can do so much if you are willing to figure out how to do it. Its really pretty fun. There is something new coming out just about every day

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing is amazing

Pros: -It can do virtually anything you need it to. Advertisements for the Iphone 4 say that it can do Skype video calls, I yawned! This phone can do that and more; in fact it is capable of running a full Debian OS, including all apps associated with it, within the limitations of the processor and memory of the device.

It is great for calls, organization, music, video, games, ebooks, texting, IMing, email, and of course web browsing.

The tethering capability of this, either wired or over blue tooth really give me mobility with my laptop. No longer am I dependent on finding the good WiFi spots wherever I go.

It has a great touch screen, very responsive and easy to use. the full 800x600 resolution screen presents a nice big viewing area too.

The four customizable desktops give the GUI plenty of real estate to work with, for all your application needs.

Maemo.org and Ovi store provide thousands of applications; anything you need, rivalling Iphone and Android.

Cons: This thing is a bit of a brick. Its big and heavy and somewhat thick in the pocket.

The battery life is also on the relatively short side. With normal, light use however, I don't have too much trouble and hardly ever need to charge more than once every evening.

Other Thoughts: If you want power, versatility, and usability in a phone, this thing is the item to get. It beats the pants off any other phone on the market. Your iphone will run and hide when this thing comes stomping by.

The n900 also has very high overclocking potential, with the use of a modified kernel that can be downloaded. the on-board 600mhz procesor can be oc'd to as much as 850 mhz, with no ill effects. Some people can even reliably use their phones with chips overclocked to 1000 mhz.

5 out of 5 eggsDebian on ARM

Pros: This "phone" essentially runs Debian on ARM. If you know what that means, this is the device for you ;)

- Root access out of the box (sudo gainroot)
- Built-in browser works well, as does fennec
- Camera is adequate, nothing to win an award over
- *Very* customizable, easy to install custom programs

Cons: - Keyboard layout is a little quirky
- Some GUI glitches here and there (black-on-black text in the VNC app for ex.)
- Some apps lack polish (see OKI Maps)

Other Thoughts: I really dig this "phone", but it's not for Grandma that's for sure :)

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Phone, Terrible Company

Pros: Very customizable
running mostly free, open-source software
Full mobile computer without restriction

Cons: None with the product, however Nokia has one of the most abusive repair policies. I purchased my phone 13 months ago, it is 1 month out of warranty. My GSM radio has quit and I want to pay to have the phone fixed. Nokia refuses to let me _pay_ them to fix my phone because it is company policy to not work on a phone that is out of warranty. I will never buy another Nokia device again.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat

Pros: This is an unbelievable phone.
I love multitasking. I love UPnP when I am at home, and shoutcasting when I am away. I love remote desktop (RDP) to my home computer. I adore being able to use Skype on the phone over wifi - no money from me to the greedy GSM providers.

Cons: I had to install a program to make it automatically connect when it loses connection to work Wifi, a WPA thing. GPS takes a long time to lock signal if it is nnot assisted by the Internet. i.e. when you don;t pay to the aforementioned greedy GSM providers.

Other Thoughts: I wish battery would hold for longer. I use the phone a lot and I can drain it in 3 hours, if wifi is lousy.
In the first year, I didn't have video skype, and even now it may take more than one attempt.
You will never know that it has an FM receiver, because Nokia did not write the software for it and you will never know you have to download it.
Too many apps are hidden in obscure repositories, instead of being screened by Nokia and listed on their Ovi store.
All in all, you have to do some extra work to make it work at its best.

5 out of 5 eggsThe best on the market

Pros: 64 Gb possibility. I use it instead of USB flash drive. Much more space. Incorporates Skype and other to make video calls, a flashlight, a good camera, Fm transmitter for music instead of wiring; Linux Meamo multi tasking; ability to see all sorts of film connected to the TV; illimited free applications; wi-fi etc

Cons: The Bluethoot disconnects the phone once and while
