4 out of 5 eggsUpdate to previous review

Pros: Still a good phone for the price but I'm dropping it an egg for having to do a full reset to restore the sound.

Cons: I purchased mid-December and mid-March it suddenly had no audio, in or out, no matter what I tried. I even tried the Windows Phone Restore Tool to no avail. I ended up doing a hard reset on the phone. That did restore the sound but I lost some of the apps that came with it.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully I will be able to reinstall all the apps I liked and didn't lose too much data. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. I do still enjoy the phone.

5 out of 5 eggsGood little phones

Pros: Great price, nice little speakers. I bought one for myself because I wanted to try a Windows phone and ended up buying another for my godson. We both are enjoying them very much. I wish the little speaker case allowed you to mute the music or adjust the volume but, hey, it was a freebee. :-)

Cons: It doesn't actually turn off. I try to turn it off at night and it ends up turning itself back on. Not a big deal because it has a feature to tell it when you want quiet time but still kind of annoying. There are some Android features that I miss, like being able to listen to each ringtone when I am choosing a new one but I probably just haven't figured out how it works yet. (I haven't spent hardly any time learning the phone.)

Other Thoughts: A very good deal if you are curious about Windows 8 phones but aren't ready to commit to spending more than $100 on the curiosity. It might even last quite a while; we'll see.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good deal for price

Pros: Very pleased for the phone. It works very well, as expected. It works, has good battery length, price is right. I would buy another if I wanted a Windows phone.

Cons: None

2 out of 5 eggsNot good at making calls

Pros: cheap, good looking phone.

Cons: Not good at making calls. Sometimes works, most of the time not. Piece of junk for basic function which is making calls.

Other Thoughts: I hope that new Windows 8.1 software will fix phone problem.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: You can read the specifications provided from Nokia, but they won't display the power and connectivity this phone provides for entry level smart phone users. With Android and iOS dominating the market, there isn't much room for Windows Mobile, however, Nokia's Lumia 521 seems to change the game a bit. My experience using Windows Mobile 8.0 has been flawless, for the most part. The phone's functionality provides me all my basic needs. I can even tether the phone to my laptop without much trouble. Although the phone does not have 4g/LTE support, the speeds I attained with T-mobile 3G network have surprised me. HSPA+ has a maximum of 21Mbit and 5.8Mbit on T-mobile's 3G network in domestic areas. I managed to sustain half that available bandwidth consistently, which is pretty amazing. Phone calls were loud and clear. Webpages loaded quickly, and GPS coordination is flawless, especially when the maps are downloaded to the phone. The rear camera does an excellent job taking pictures and works quite well when the side button is mapped to it. Pictures were clear and crisp under ideal lighting. Audio playback, surprisingly, was louder than my iPhone 5s. The phone is very durable and flush. I wouldn't hesitate if I were to drop the phone accidentally.

Cons: No front camera support. No flash. Windows Mobile 8.1 deployment has been delayed consistently. The lack of 4g/LTE antennas will limit the coverage and connectivity of this device. SDHC performance decreases with larger SD card sizes. Software connectivity is difficult on MacOSX. In windows, the media player will take care of content management.

Other Thoughts: If you need a phone for a decent price, and are willing to try Windows Mobile, this is definitely the phone you should start with. A sim card is also included with the packaging in case you'd like to start a new plan with T-mobile. The phone can be carrier unlocked after 2 months of service.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat phone for the price

Cons: no front-facing camera.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Mid-Range Phone

Pros: *easy to use interface
*good performance, lags less than my android phone
*Windows 8 interface w/ recent/upcoming updates has made this phone an excellent option
*phone itself survives the kids usage, has decent uptime, and easy to use

Cons: *windows phone app store has a smaller (but ever increasing) app selection the iOS or Android

Other Thoughts: We bought this as a family phone after my wife used the Nokia Lumia 920 for over a year. I currently have a Galaxy S4. Despite being a tech guy that likes to play with the android OS, since seeing how well the 920 and 521 work, I will likely get a Windows Phone as my next device!

4 out of 5 eggsGood phone - sllloooooww shiping

Pros: Phone is exactly what I hoped for - reliable, easy to use, good call quality, relatively fast. I got it as a first phone for my daughter. Plenty of oomph and features for a tween and still cheap enough on the pocket that if she loses or breaks it you aren't out a $600 iPhone!

Cons: Picks up fingerprints like it's a magnet! Hopefully I will solve that with a screen protector. Also the phone is entirely plastic, so buy a good rugged case to protect it from drops. The volume almost can be to loud - some concern about kid using earphones with this phone - it is really loud! Took one egg for the plastic feel and the screen being a fingerprint magnet.

Other Thoughts: Was supposed to be 4-7 business days for shipping - actually didn't even leave the warehouse until the 7th day! Then it got delayed - all total it took 3 weeks to show up! I know it's a bit out of Neweggs control, but I have never had that issue with any other Newegg orders in the past.

1 out of 5 eggslumia

Pros: none

Cons: What a piece of garbage. The Windows platform doesn't allow for swyping and a whole host of other apps one can use with an android device. This is the worst product I've ever purchased from Newegg.

Other Thoughts: Going to request an RMA

5 out of 5 eggsgreat starter/first smart phone

Pros: -price
-voice quality

Cons: -screen resolution
-no photo flash
-no forward facing camera
-plastic case scratches easily.

Other Thoughts: in the age when phones get 1080p screens 800x480 is already generation behind. while no one should expect huge screen on under $100 dollar phone it nevertheless a gripe you would have to deal with everyday especially if you read off your phone a lot.

speaker it comes with is marginally better than phone speaker itself. it is however heavy when loaded with 3 AA batteries. It also seems like it doesn't actually have much of amplification despite being powered by x3 batteries. I had to really crank up my phone volume to make it volume levels as you would expect speakers to have, but even then it's laughable. Car charger is a good thing though.

i would highly recommend to get a case and screen protector for this phone since it scratches really easily.
