4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Not bad and it exceeds my expectation. Night view is okay with its infrared LEDs, works great in typical size room, won't see far or clear in a very large room.

Cons: Can access all the functions in Firefox, must use IE with ActiveX installed.

Time and event server options require actual IP addresses, won't work with just domain names.
For NTP server near you, check http://tf.nist.gov/tf-cgi/servers.cgi

Other Thoughts: Finding the right resolution and frame rate for smooth remote monitor can be a bit time consuming.

I read from some of the reviews here that wireless connection may be lost and require physical reset, so far I didn't see this type of problem with mine. I use static DHCP, wireless filter etc. in the tomato firmware for my router to make sure the wireless camera can stay connected at the same address. There is Schedule Profile that can be played around with in the camera settings. If all these measures won't help, I think a programmable timer that automatically turn off and on camera every couple days should help.

5 out of 5 eggsMotion Detection

Pros: Finally got around to setting up motion recording, got it working utilizing the Securview software, still working on settng up recording to FTP/NAS device via the camera web interface. Motion recording works great with the ability to fine tune motion detection which will trigger the start of recording. The unit also supports scheduled recordings. Playback was a bit tricky and locating codec that wil allow playback with audio. Wound up using Nero player for playback.
Also configured the RTSP streaming which works on a HTC Touch Pro II (2 years old), looking forward to configuring on wifes Blackberry and friends iPhones!

Cons: Camera becomes unaccessible 'every now and then and requires a reboot to become accessible again. Firmware update may resolve this though.

Other Thoughts: Have yet to install the latest firmware, hopefully the new firmware will intail additional functionality; currently running 1.1.0 build 77.

4 out of 5 eggsLove it, thanks new egg!!

Pros: This Camera is pretty amazing (indoors). As others have said, out doors is like looking directly into the sun, can't see anything. Initial set up is a breeze, the manual is pretty easy to follow along. Night vision or as the button is labeled "night time" is pretty good. I LOVE the website interface, how ever the app for the phone is mediocre. The voice is pretty crisp and the picture quality is not too shabby.

Cons: As I said, the App for Droid and Iphone (we have both) are O.K. At least TreNdnet provides it to you for free, and its not in the manual, I just happened to spot it on the box (securview), I dont know why they left out the E lol. It's O.K. because you can utilize the preset angles as you can on the website interface, so it takes for ever to move the camera around.

Another major challenge I encountered was setting up the camera to access it outside my WIFI. You have to set up Port Forwarding, and If you don't have a TreNdnet router, their tech support is as useless as dried up vomit.

I have ATT Uverse, which they wanted to charge me for that "level" of tech support. So be prepared to Google for a few hours if you plan on doing it yourself.

Other Thoughts: TrenDnet, Please Please Please add the preset buttons to the phone apps. That's the only missing egg.

5 out of 5 eggsGood so far

Pros: Got this as a spy camera for my kids' room to replace an aging baby cam.

* Connects to my Wireless N network
* Supports up to 1.3 MP images, which look rather sharp (@ only 15fps)
* Security - seems secure enough fundamentally, requiring a user name and password. You have the ability to specify additional users as well, with two user levels.
* Comes with a good quality (optional) metal armature mount whose pieces fit together very well.
* Allows the image to be flipped vertically, horizontally or rotated 180* (for mounting upside down on ceiling - which I have done)
* Can view and control the camera (Pan and Tilt) with any browser (limitations in "Cons") or a free IP Camera viewer app for your smartphone. I've got an Android phone and have used IP Cam Viewer Lite with success, though there are others to choose from.
* Can hook up an external speaker to become the voice of your chosen Deity ("Stop hitting your brother!")
* Can specify and name 9 preset positions

Cons: Only supports MJPEG in non-Internet Explorer browsers...no sound. Looking for a workaround for my OpenSUSE laptop...
Otherwise, supports H.264 and MPEG4.

The camera's movement is in fixed degree increments, so the option to fine-tune doesn't appear to exist...though this may be common with surveillance cameras at this price point in general.

The camera's IP defaulted to 192.168.2.3 which is not my home IP base. I was unable to browse to the camera until I pulled out my old Windows laptop and installed their software to set its new IP. Then I was able to setup its wireless connection from any laptop/browser and everything has worked great so far.

The power cord is disappointingly short...perhaps 5 or 6 feet. There are ways around that too, though.

Other Thoughts: Great little camera, especially for the sale price of one hundred sixty-five.

Reminds me of my robotics days in college with Amatrol and Scorbot robotic arms.

We'll just have to see about longevity - or how it holds up to having monkey children flinging toys and...stuff at it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Camera-Finally solve the IP Problem

Pros: Connects easily to my Android Phone

Cons: Took awhile to figure that minor IP problem

Other Thoughts: Anyone who got this and had it disconnect with your router randomly, tighten the antenna another 1/2 turn with a piler. Tighten by hand isn't enough. If the camera loses your DCHP, it will try to connect with another one, then it would not be able to port forward the video with the one that was set up on your router.

I also set up a static ip on my camera just to be safe. The problem is the network tab in the camera setup won't let me do it. It just give me an error message.

Go to the info tab and copy your DCHP ip address, subnet mask, default gateway, and primary DNS once you got your camera setup in DCHP. Go to the setup wizard again and type info in for a static ip.

The camera work flawlessly for me so far the the last 3 week.

1 out of 5 eggsGood features - Poor quality

Pros: This camera has a lot of nice features, wireless, IP camera, easy to setup, rotates etc

Cons: The unit I received had very poor video quality. Setup the day I received and immediately noticed a red hue in the picture. Blue colors looked purple. Upgraded firmware and tried adjust setting but no luck.

Other Thoughts: RMA unit. Have bought a lot of equipment from NewEgg, first time I had to RMA. They were excellent!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -- Low price for the features.
-- Night mode works great.
-- Can use EXTERNAL speakers for 2-way communication.

Cons: -- No external mic jack.
-- No internal speakers.
-- It sometimes gets stuck in night mode, making the colors all weird pastels. The dark brown crib looks light lavender.
-- No autofocus. Must manually turn ring around lens.

Other Thoughts: I somehow missed that the little slots near the back of the camera weren't for the built-in speakers (as none exist). I would have loved even tiny speakers so that I could really just plug this thing in anywhere around my network and have it ready to roll.

Also, when it gets stuck in night mode, if I point it at the light on the ceiling, it resets. Oddly enough, the bright from the uncovered window isn't enough.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent camera for the price

Pros: Works well. No rebooting necessary so far (~30 days). Decent low light picture. Built-in web server software is adequate. Mainstream enough that plenty of unofficial configuration info can be found online. Third party software not necessary.

Cons: Poor documentation from TrendNET.
Email notification feature won't work with Gmail as far as I can tell.
(But it will work with an email address from your ISP.)

Other Thoughts: I did not install the software that came with it, but do use the software built into the camera.
I use IP Cam Viewer and a free DDNS service to have it available in real time on my (original MotoDroid) Android phone. CyanogenMod 7 (Gingerbread 2.3).
I like it enough that I'll probably purchase another sometime.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works regardless of browser or OS, good price and fast shipment coming from California all the way to Canada, less than a week.

Cons: full functionality only with IE due to ActiveX

Other Thoughts: I haven't used the included management software, as I have cameras from different vendors and using zoneminder on Linus is my preferred method of capture.

3 out of 5 eggsHalf baked

Pros: Most specs as stated.

Cons: What is with these people that write the manuals?!! This has the potential of a great product and "Start-up" was well along until the very last but then the double-talk started. The steps were great but no mention of ActiveX and Internet Explorer until the really neat stuff won't work. IE give you such a hard time! I'm still going in circles trying to get Active X installed. Firefox makes it work to about half capablilyty.

Other Thoughts: There seems to be a problem with the brightness adjustment. I can't turn the lens to the out-of-doors without a brightness overload.
