1 out of 5 eggsBuyer be ware!

Pros: None

Cons: Terrible display, very slow, very unstable. Not any thing close to what they advertise on line. Hope you like dealing with Tech Support from India, and if you ask for someone who speaks English they will try to say that they ARE speaking English!

Other Thoughts: Save your money

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the TV-IP572PI. The camera has a fast Ethernet port which is more than sufficient to view the camera. If you are experiencing a slow image remotely, please note that you are limited by the upload speed provided by your ISP. You can adjust a profile on the Setup > Video / Audio page for remote viewing with lower requirements if this is the issue. We have not seen a stability issue with a hard wired camera before. If you could elaborate on the issue we would be more than happy to assist you. Please email and we will have someone assist you as soon as possible. Please include a link to this review.

2 out of 5 eggsdisappointed with motion detection

Pros: PoE, decent video quality at higher bitrates, easy setup, cheap. If you only use this for monitoring or full-time recording, I think this could be a good value - and the only reason I gave 2*.

Cons: The motion detection is awful, especially in lower-light situations. Obnoxiously high number of false positives (I have hours of "motion-triggered" videos where absolutely nothing is moving in frame), which would be slightly more excusable if there weren't false negatives - even at 100% sensitivity! There have been times when I or others have walked down a well-lit hallway and no activity even shows up in the logs.

Other Thoughts: This thing is cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for. It has been so frustrating trying to figure out what makes the motion detection 'tick', and no longer worth the hassle - will look for another solution.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Eric,

We are sorry to hear that you had an issue with the motion detection configuration. Adjusting the size and sensitivity of the motion detection are can typically produce the results you need. You can also use the TRENDnetVIEW Pro application and use the software motion detection option as well. If you need assistance with the camera please email and we will have someone assist you as soon as possible.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great, I have it running in an unheated barn with no issues.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is not a wide angle camera. This might restrict mounting locations.

4 out of 5 eggsGood but not perfect

Pros: PoE.... Good resolution.... PoE.... Decent management options, compatible with open source solutions.... PoE, on board SD card, decent night vision quality.

Cons: Tacky branding on the face of the camera sure to attract attention, Normal viewing angle not designed to accept aftermarket wide angle adapters, no way for automated or bulk collection of recordings from SD cards, h.264 compression is anything but quality.

Other Thoughts: Bought 3 for my office and I love the POE setup - very easy to deploy, access live feed and setup. The built-in management interface offers good options but suffers from some major omissions such as the ability to download stored recordings in bulk remotely. The other gripe I have (and this applies to most of the cameras out there) is that the lens can not accept any aftermarket adapters to broaden the field of view. While most of the time the default viewing angle is ok, mounting them in confined spaces (like a tiny storage room 10 x 6) gives you partial coverage. Finally, as mall gripe -- the branding on the front of the camera is annoying - tacky lettering instead of plain white shell that could blend with white ceilings. One word about the h.264 which I was expecting to give good results with higher resolutions... The onboard compression is sub-par in terms of quality and I ended up using the mpeg4 format for the recordings and even live viewing. And finally the motion recording scheduling -- well, it's not very flexible. If you're looking to allow motion triggered recording your options are: ALWAYS/NEVER, Mon - Sun with only one set of hours for all days (same hours every day) -- overall not very flexible setting.

But hopefully someone from trendnet will read this review and sneak a new set of schedules and the bulk download option into a firmware upgrade...

All that aside, it's a great product for the price - haven't seen one that did the job better for this price, and yes, I would buy one again, but I would buy one at a time to ensure that the lens coverage fits the solution.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well for the pricetag

Pros: This camera works very well with Zoneminder (a linux based surveillance system) and also seems to be rock solid so far.

The IR (night vision) works very well but the FPS drops by half which is totally normal due to the absence of light. The lens is easily adjusted by turning the outer front rim, and the mounting bracket is strong and easily adjusted.

Set at 1280x800 and 30fps, the picture is crisp clean and plenty fluid, enough to overload many surveillance systems.

The integrated firmware features (motion detection, recording, etc) makes the camera fully functional even standalone..

Cons: The FOV (Field of vision) or commonly called angle of sight is rather narrow. I'd say from a 20ft distance, you wont be able to see more than 30ft wide. From my living room's corner, I can barely capture the entire living room and its not a big house at all.

While I mentioned that the mounting bracket is strong and well built, it is LARGE!

Other Thoughts: Good overall surveillance camera, without any auxiliary surveillance system, the camera can perform very well on its own with a SD card.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat camera!

Pros: accurate colours, high reliability, good motion detection

Cons: requires installation of a plugin for browser view

Other Thoughts: Having previously played with other day/night IP cameras, I am impressed with accurate green colours on this camera. The greens would typically appear as washed-out purple on an IP camera with night view (infrared), but not on this one. Here, the greens are true. The configuration options are well organized and easy to understand. The motion detection function works very well and its configuration is pleasantly powerful and easy. The only thing I was not impressed about was the requirement to install a browser plugin. It looks like this plugin is only available for Windows users (I am a Linux user), but I have not tested it on a Mac and cannot tell if a Mac is supported.

5 out of 5 eggsA good cam!

Pros: Is a good cam and have several nice features like Night vision, web interface, PoE, small, cheap.
I connected it to my Rack's switch to monitor the room (security)
was working fine from the 1st day.
Easy to setup

Cons: Not linux software, I connected this cam to a Ubuntu server, but the provided software runs only on windows or Macs, the Android version works fine but have several issues (like unable to set a dynamic address, only static ips)

Other Thoughts: Even without Linux software the cam can be used with no problems using a web browser.

Other features not tested yet!
